    any deals on business class?

  • Anything that will get me to vietnam in September?

  • Firstly let me say I have no issue with the plane and air staff themselves but do with some of the services and communications that the support staff offer.

My warning is do not use scoot thru on these connecting flights - collect your own baggage and check it through.
    https://www.flyscoot.com/index.php/en/pre-flight/scoot-thru.…
The internet has many cases of scoot thru fail and even the ground staff at singapore said it was an issue.
Unfortunately, to save costs, scoot farm out the baggage handling to the cheapest bidder (SATS)

I paid the $80 sgd extra for this at scoots recommendation and the bag never arrived at the next destination.
About 2 hours were lost at the final destination filling out paperwork (Paper and carbon paper) with associated language issues and delay meant I missed my booked vehicle for the next 150klm leg so had to pay considerably more for a taxi.
The next couple of months on the trip seem to be spent trying to find clothes to fit a giant in a land of midgets (in comparison) and topping up sim cards for the endless back and forth to their baggage claim department in Singapore with repeated promises of call backs which never eventuated.

No "real" apology was given, no refund of $80sgd charged and as soon as they found out I had travel insurance they wiped their hands of the whole sorry saga.
To top it off, travel insurance which covered up to $25k in lost baggage refused to pay the $4000 odd dollars claimed because we couldn't provide receipts for clothes and bags, does anyone?
We had check through receipts, pics of bags on conveyor going through and a letter from baggage saying it was lost.
Instead they countered with a take it or leave it one off payment of $1000 which we ended up taking after several days on no replies to emails.

Long rant but you have been warned.

    • Wow. Just out of interest, which insurer did you use?

      • -1

        Southern Cross Travel

        • -1

yeah i've heard they are rubbish.

        • +1

@insular: yeah, I heard they were good and others are rubbish.
The internet lets see what you want to see.

    • wow looks like you got screwed badly by both scoot and the insurance company (not surprised)

      which insurance company?

even if you had receipts they would have claimed depreciation on your clothes and every item inside the bag. this is what is concerning, i've only ever had to make one insurance claim with ACE group (via work), and they covered everything (except an upgrade of iphone) without depreciation.

have u made any claims on travel insurance before? with this company?

      • -1

"have u made any claims on travel insurance before? with this company?"

10 years, multiple policies, never a claim

        • I've had TID before and they sorted things out fairly easy. AMEX travel insurance is pretty good too. Can recommend both.

    • Not saying Scoot Thru is any good but SATS handle almost all airlines at SIN airport.
      http://www.sats.com.sg/AboutUs/OurCustomers/Pages/OurCustome…

  • Prices shown here include CC/booking fees. Prices are good until sold out. So if i book direct with scoot and poli i pay no cc fees so i guess cheaper to go direct through them.

    • Yeah but maybe paying an extra $10 to 'I want that flight' is a fair tip for bringing flights to your attention…

      • $10 each way i think

    • I want that flight don't make bookings. If you use their site and click on the airfare links it just sends you to the airline website to book directly. They just list the CC fees as that's how most people pay. See here: http://iwantthatflight.com.au/General-AboutUs.aspx

    • +1

I you are going to pay by POLi, then it may be cheaper to go direct. I say may, because in some cases one of our suppliers will be cheaper than going to the airline direct. Eg, yesterday we had a Sydney to Singapore return flight for $240 which was not available on the Scoot site.

As Donga said, we list with CC fees as most people choose to pay that way. Some of our suppliers also accept POLi (and even bank transfer), which makes their fares cheaper, but most people do not pay using those methods.

    • +1

An example of it being cheaper through us than direct is Sydney to Hong Kong. We have lots of fares at $432 (inc CC fees), while the cheapest you will find on the Scoot website is $438 (paying by POLi, more if you pay by CC).
Sydney to Hong Kong 2/Oct ret 5/Oct $432
      http://iwantthatflight.com.au/flight.ashx?oc=SYD&dc=HKG&dd=0…
Same dates on Scoot, the airfare is $438.

Not a huge difference by any means, but an example.

  • Rep any deals for Syd-Singapore in July?

  • Hey rep any deals on Melb sin/ Bangkok (or any Asian destination)for early July? Seems like flights from Melb are so much more expensive…..and I wanna get out of the cold!

  • -3

Scoots a decent airline, i just can not for the life of me commute through singapore or malaysia anymore…..

    • +2

Why not? Both airports are much better than any Australian airports….

      • -1

hot and boring in my opinion, seen the joints too many times, i dunno, i have issues with these airports, be nice to go through japan or something for a change

        • +5

Are you willing to pay the $$$ ;)?

As to hot, I never felt that in the Singapore airport.

        • @gamechanger:

          Agree. Air-conditioning is fine there.

        • +1

@gamechanger: the airport is fine, what i am meaning is it would be nice to stop over for a night or two in another country, a new place to visit…a transit is ok.

        • +1

@unclesnake: Both SIN and KUL are great short stop over cities. Both have express trains to the city, both have very affordable 3/4/5 star hotels, both have great night markets for food and both have good shopping and nightlife.

          Am I missing something?

          :)

        • -1

@MrMaxwell: if u have been through it 50+ times, you will get sick of it too.

        • @unclesnake: Understood - you should've added that at the end of your original comment! :)

  • what are the dates for $337 HK from Melb?

  • Hi Rep. Any deal for Phuket from Sydeny between 15th Oct and 30th Oct. or to be more specific, I wanna travel to Phuket on 20th Oct and return on 25th Oct. Thanks.

  • Melbourne Singapore shows up at about $3000 per pax for me. I just clicked on the direct link above and also the deal link. Where do I access that sale price?

  • Hi, would anyone know how to add check-in luggage during checkout from Sydney to Singapore return? I don't seem to have the option to add check-in luggage :(

  • How long will this sale last?

  • Dam no sale on Taipei :(

  • Question for people in terms of scoot vs Air asia for flights return from Singapore to Sydney - I have two options:

    1. return via Scoot $500 direct - but I heard scoot is really bad and may have cancellations.

    2. return via Airasia - however there is a stopover for each leg of the journey at Kuala Lumpur for around 2 hours ish. is this enough time? I was worried that it might not be enough due to cancellations etc.

    Suggestions?

    • If you have through check-in with AirAsia you're covered for any delay of the connecting flight. But you're, in effect, adding 2 hours of to and fro flight-time plus 2 hours of waiting time. Can't comment on Scoot as I have not flown with them.

  • This deal was marked as expired (by a mod, I think) but it is still available.

    • ….And now it has expired…..
