I had this printer for a few months - it was terrible. The print quality was really poor. But so cheap.

I ended up getting a refund and buying the Brother HL-L2340 for about $100 - it has double sided printing, wireless, super easy to set-up, prints from smartphone etc. It's awesome.

I've owned & used SOOO many printers over the years.

For the price, this is unbeatable. Simple, CHEAP, and it WORKS.

2-3 years later, it's as good as the day I bought it.

The kids give it a flogging!

these are great little no nonsense units, honest and reliable.
they are NOT for picture quality, they are perfect for printing basic documents/spreadsheets etc and are great for single pc operation. Even as a spare as I have had for a while when the main printer plays up.

compatible toners are around 30-40 dollars online for 1000 pages or about 3-4 cents per page.
Toner has a 10,000 page life, again remanufactured toners are around 50 bucks.

a reminder though they are usb 2.0 only, no Ethernet or wifi capabilities…

  • Cheap but I hate the fact that the paper tray is out in the open. I rarely print so it would get covered in dust and crap.

    • Have you considered putting a simple cover on the paper tray?

      • Yeah maybe you're right.

I looked up the specs and the included cartridge is good for 700pages. So not bad.

I am still on the starter toner of my current Brother laser.
