So it's Thursday afternoon, and my manager suddenly says 'let's just go crazy and make everything 20% off for ozbargain'
"20%? That's better than our trade discounts" I say.
"Just make it happen".
And that's the story of how the coupon code 'ozbargain20' came to be.

About time - there is never a sale on rugs!
Edit: To be fair, they appear to be reasonably priced (I'm no expert though).
Hey Elmo,
The difference is that we don't 'over-rrp' our rugs and then constantly discount to bring rugs back down to what they're normally selling for.
If we do have a sale such as this, you'll actually be hard pressed to find cheaper. Maybe not totally impossible for a few specific rugs, but it shouldn't be too easy!
I've been looking for a shag rug for a while and been tempted with the likes of oo.com.au, dealsdirect, costco, Ikea etc as they have some nice 320cm x 230cm for under $600. What is the difference between these rugs and yours? I've always lived in carpeted places but my new place has wooden floors so the world of rugs is new to me.
Cymon,
I totally get that. Rugs seem pretty simple but once you actually start looking, you're presented with a whole range of different styles, materials, brands and prices so it can be a bit overwhelming.
In regards to comparisons it totally depends on the rug so it's hard to say without two exact rugs to compare.
The thing about CatwalkRugs is that we don't only sell cheap rugs - we cater to the luxury rug market as well with high end modern designer brands.
That's another reason why comparison can be difficult.
I can say that we've never had any returns or complaints based on the quality of our rugs for both the high end and low end range. Thanks for the informative reply. While I have your attention, what should I be looking for in a good quality rug?
Thanks! Was worried it was too much actually.
That's good question and I'll probably make a write up centered around that question today.
It's half answered here -
http://www.catwalkrugs.com.au/blog/polypropylene-rugs-vs-woo…The other half would be -
KPI (knots per inch) indicates how much work went into creating the rug if it's hand made (this is one reason why persian rugs can be so expensive). It's usually linked to durability and the skill of the artisan.
Pile height - If the height of the rug fibers is high (and isn't a shag rug) this is sometimes used to mask the fact that the weaving techniques were unskilled.
Materials used - Determining wool quality can be a bit difficult, but better wool usually = better rug. Good wool will have a certain look and feel, won't be brittle, and have a certain sheen.
Bad wool will be brittle and probably fall apart after awhile, and smell over time.I'll make a post about that today anyway as I'm sure a lot of people would like to know.
Thanks all who took advantage of this offer!
I'll be doing follow ups on all of your orders and your rugs should be arriving quite soon actually!
