      1) I agree with you: we've found that hardly anyone that uses our offers goes and upvotes.
      2) As mentioned, the comments in those offers may have useful feedback about our products to new-comers.

      • +2

Ah well, I always upvote you, and have an alert for your deals, and get your newsletters. I've placed three orders from you this year. The first one I don't think I even found about here. I think I just got an email from groupon or something like that and it had yours offering 2 packs of stokkies, so I thought I'd try it out (I'd never tried biltong before). I think it was around Valentines.

I hope you do well, and I'd personally recommend your stokkies to any jerky fan. I actually prefer it to jerky now. I will try the actual biltong this time. I do like it dry and lean though.

Oddly though you just have the one flavour for the biltong, unlike the stokkies.

      • +4

I think we just broke your upvote record.

I hope you keep posting deals.

  • +1

    Woo hoo!!!

Great stokkies. I will definitely try their actual biltong this time.

  • +1

    I like their biltong!

Is pickup from Brookvale available as an option?

    • +11

      Hi check

      That's a great question.

Thanks to your request, I have gone and implemented such an option. If you put your shipping address as within NSW, it will give you the shipping option to collect from the Brookvale Store for $0 shipping.

      Thanks!

This right here is customer service.

  • +2

Hi Rep, just as feedback, last time I purchased a few bags of the sliced dry biltong and found a bit of inconsistency in the saltiness. Not sure whether the bags came from different batches. I understand the product is supposed to be salty, but I found it to be too salty at times, which makes me a bit reluctant to purchase again.

    • +6

      Hi georgedn,
      Thanks for your feedback.
One possible reason is I believe your order was for 'dry' traditional biltong, which is more dehydrated, which concentrates the salt distribution in the product. We generally find the 'average-dryness' or wet will be less intense.
However, it's entirely plausible we added too much spice on that particular batch and the dryness exacerbated the saltiness. If you do order again you can add a note saying you found the dry last time to be too salty and request thicker pieces or pieces not too intensely spiced.

      • Hi, I've come across the same issue. My first order had both avg dryness and dry and found only the dry to be too salty. My last order I stuck to avg dryness but that was also too salty. The biltong I got from the time when it was not too salty was too damn good to pass up on so I will make sure to add a note this time. Cheers.

      • +2

Now that's what I call great customer service.
        Wish I had a spare $50 :(
Hopefully I'll bite on your next deal.

Any chance of doing a deal for 500gm & postage this time or next time?

      • Thanks Rep, I'll ask for less intensely spiced. I prefer the really thinly sliced pieces. I often found the really thick pieces (I assume these might have been the end pieces that were to small to continue slicing) to be have a lot of salt and spice attached to them.

    Yummy jerky time

    Bring back Chili Chutney!

    • +1

Oh wow I didn't realise it had disappeared. I got some in my last order.

  • +1

Dammit. I ordered about $70 worth just yesterday! :(

Edit: Actually, it doesn't seem to have shipped yet, or at least I don't have an email saying it has. Any chance I can cancel and reorder?

    • +65

I think yesterday is close enough. I've gone and refunded you 20%. Thanks :)

      • +4

        That was fast. Thank you!

You guys got me into dried beef with the Chatswood stall… excellent stuff.

  • +1

Damn I literally bought 1kg of biltong and 250g of stokkies 2 minutes ago as I got an email from you guys for 15% off.

Then I come on Ozb and see I missed out on an extra 5% off.

    FML

The biltong is fantastic btw, I bought a 500g bag last week to try and polished it off in 2 days.

    • +54

Let me know your order number or PM me your name and I will happily refund you the difference.
      Was it 55554?

      • +6

        55549

        Thanks rep!

^why the hell would someone down vote the rep for refunding me the difference, ridiculous.

        • +6

It's easy to hit the wrong button, maybe it was that

  • +8

Got to say too it is great how the price per gram for all size packs is the same. So you can easily order all varieties without worrying about losing out on value.

    • +4

Got to agree with this - I like ordering all flavours of a product to try them out, but pricing usually discourages this, especially when an item of half the weight costs only a marginal amount less.

To anyone interested, my order of 1.25kg came to a shipping cost of $9.09.

      • +1

If you look at the invoice, $9.09 is excl. GST, there is an item for $0.91 GST. Not sure why their invoicing is set out that way.
I bought 500g the other day I think shipping was $7. So shipping is capped at $10 as per title.
Anyway I think their prices are fantastic.
        I love biltong.

  • +3

I'll upvote this deal. I purchased 2kg last time so not sure if I'll put another order through just yet as I'm still making my way through it. For delivered biltong, it's a great price.

The quality is great - I got 1kg of biltong and 1kg of the dry woers. I find the dry woers a little fatty but very tasty. I'd probably order less of the dry woers next time and get stokkies instead. Definitely will get more biltong - I got average dryness last time.

OP - when does the deal end? I might buy more depending how my stash goes and when the deal ends.

    • Many thanks for that, I'll pass on the feedback about the dry wors.
The deal ends at the end of May.

  • +1

What's the difference between the biltong and dry woers?

    • +1

the biggest difference i would say is that the wors are a mince, not a nice slab of steak :D

    • +4

Dry Wors is an air-dried beef sausage, similar to Cabanossi but not spicy. It has elements of cloves, nutmeg and coriander.
Biltong is just the marinaded air-dried meat. We offer it in the form of:
      * thin dry strips
      * or in thicker slabs which you can customise
      ** by shredding/slicing them and
** choosing a dryness (wet, average or dry).

      • Do you know where I can look up the nutritional values? Can't seem to find it on the website

  • Anyone tried both the "average" and "dry" and can comment on them? Is dry as dry as stokkies or jerky, or not quite? Or in comparison to say Italian air dried meat like proscuitto or coppa which would be closer?

    • +2

I've tried both. Personally I prefer the 'average dryness' as it is softer and less salty. I tried the 'dry' a while ago and it was close to the stokkies if I remember correctly. Having the 'dry' come pre-sliced does make it easier on the jaw than the stokkies though. Average is definitely closer in texture to proscuitto, perhaps 'wet' may be even closer (though I haven't tried it in 'wet').

  • +7

Thanks for the good deal, but more than anything, handling customer service so well based on the above discounts applied for recent orders! Well done rep! :)

    • +7

Agreed. The way the rep handled those issues with aplomb tipped me over the edge for a 1.5kg stokkies & drywors order! :)

    • +1

Finally had a chance to place my order. Can't wait! :D

  • 1kg? Holy…..I don't think I dare to try it with 1kg (yes, I have no idea what it is and have never tried it).

    • +2

Once you try black jerky/Biltong, you will never go back, oh wait, wrong saying, lol.
You can buy small packs packs from most coles/woolies (jerky is more common) or Biltong from most deli's.
As most people say, there is a high chance you will get hooked.

  • +1

Hi rep, I'm heading to NZ soon, do you have any idea if I'll have problem bringing any sealed packs of your biltong with me?

    • +1

Make sure you bring some back and you'll be on Border Security..!

    • +6

For personal consignments you should be okay up to 20kg,
however the product must be sealed in its original commercial packaging (so if you decide to open some on the plane, they may confiscate the open ones at customs).
Please add a note with your order that we must package it for export to New Zealand as the package needs to contain certain details.
Also please let us know your deadline so we can get it there in time for your flight.

In the unlikely event that there is any issue, just let us know and we'll take care of you.

      • Great, thanks for the info.

      • +1

I bought some at the airport in South Africa but when I got into Australia they took it off me.

      • Hi, I put an order through last week (with note attached as advised) and am starting to get a little nervous now as I've not yet received shipping confirmation. I leave on Thursday morning and I live in Melbourne. Emailed you guys a couple of hours ago but haven't heard back yet. Could you please follow this up for me? I'm order #55956. Cheers.

        • +1

          Hi awesom-o

          Thanks for your order.
I have checked up on your order and replied to your email.
          Thanks for your patience

Hi Rep, I just brought 4 x 250g packs, my order number is 55592. Tomorrow is my birthday, any chance I can receive the order by tomorrow? I would like to share them with my friends. Thanks.

    • +9

Hi. Many thanks for your order. I have put the request through and I'll do my best for you. Once I have confirmation I will let you know.

      • Thank you so much.

        • +15

Lorraine is doing it for you now. We'll be shipping by Express Post which should get to you sometime on Tuesday.
          Have a great birthday! :)

        • @biltong2go:

Thank you for your efforts, really appreciated. Thank you!

        • @alwynpan:

So did you get it by your birthday? :)

  • +1

Thanks, Rep - I've been waiting for a discount so I can have a crack at the 4 different flavours of stokkies. Pity I just missed out on the chilli chutney…oh well, next time it comes around I'll be sure to get on it.

  • +2

Hi Rep. Is it possible to get 1kg of Traditional Biltong in the 3 different degrees of moistness? Would like to try some of each.

    • +1

i see what you did there, you're trying to trick them into giving you an extra 2g!

in all seriousness though just go 250+250+500, or maybe try another of their products, they all look worthy of trying to me :)

    • +4

While the website won't let you do that directly, you can just buy 1kg and send a note in with your request and we'll do it no problem.

  • +3

I have purchased from this company many times over many years. First came across them on ebay. Have always love the sliced biltong. I usually buy wet but this time I'm trying dry and also the chilli stokkies. Am a very satisfied customer. Postage has always been very quick for me (I'm in Brisbane).

  • +1

    Dry = More meat? 0.o

    • +4

Technically yes, more meat is used for 1kg of 'dry' traditional than for 1kg of 'average' or 'wet'.
However you are purchasing by dry-weight, not raw-weight, so it doesn't really make a difference in value. The dry biltong will have a very-slightly higher % of protein, but really you should buy according to your taste :)

  • How does this stuff compare to Jerky? It looks amazing.

    • +2

Stokkies are pretty similar to jerky in texture/dryness. But they are strips of meat cut along the grain and air dried, as opposed to jerky which is generally oven dried and usually cut across the grain. Stokkies are probably a little tougher to chew than jerky.

Biltong however is more like the Italian air dried meats like Proscuitto. I'm honeslty not sure how dry their dry grade biltong is though.

      • Hmm sounds pretty tasty! Thanks for the reply I'll have to give it a shot.

  • Where can I find the ingredients/Nutritional info?

    • All good - found your link above! Ordered 1kg - 55619

  • +3

    Thanks, I'll give it a (2kg) crack :-)

  • +1

Awesome, will give this a try!

  • Why are the stokkies more expensive per gram than the biltong? Is it because they are drier (less moisture weight)?
Are you ever going to make flavored biltong?

    • I expect it is more work to make, plus given the size difference would use significantly more spices per gram to produce. Plus less moisture like you said.

  • +5

wasn't going to order or comment because im too lazy to login, however the awesome clarification and customer service here moved me to do both. Ordered 2*500g and another +1 for the deal and service.
    cheers

  • I just bought 30x40g from Geronimo Jerky. Not sure if I should buy some biltong as well…

  • +1

Just ordered a little over 1kg of Biltong Snapsticks in smaller bags (mixture of flavours).

I like to have them in smaller separate bags so i wont be tempted to finish it all at once, hope that's okay. Also added a note saying the spicier the better!. Order no: 55656‏

    THANKS!

  • +1

Just ordered 1kg of Biltong and 1kg of Stokkies. Cheers for the deal :)

  • +1

I've been buying your sliced biltong from the markets for years and can't believe I've only just learnt that it's available whole. Takes me a while to get through a pack (with much restraint) and it tends to dry out a bit too much for my liking in paper and doesn't taste so good stored in plastic.

If I buy your biltong whole, what moistness should I be going for to have similar consistency as the markets?

    Thanks

    • +1

      Hi Roscoe99,
Indeed one of the advantages (or disadvantage) of having to cut the whole slabs of traditional biltong is that you get a slightly fresher product.
The day before the markets we take average and wet biltong and slice it up and then by the next day it has dried just a little bit and is usually 'average' dryness. Therefore I would recommend average dryness.

To solve the problem you have at the market, have you tried freezing it (in plastic)? That would lock in some moisture.
When not freezing you should keep it in a paper bag.
      Thanks!

      • Thanks. Haven't tried freezing.

Roughly how many pieces would you normally send out for 1kg of whole biltong?

  • +3

damn cant believe i just spent $80 on dried meat, damn you ozbargain!

hope its good, the Geronimo jerky was great.

  • what are the ingredients of the original jerky? was keen for some but am on a paleo diet at the moment so can't have anything nasty

  • +1

I love Jerky, so addictive! just ordered 1 kg BBQ Biltong Snapsticks

  • +5

    Ordered!

Happy to support a local business but what pushed me over the line to purchase here was the outstanding customer focus in your responses. Good stuff, keep it up!

  • +1

Geronimo was great, and this is even better value per kg, so very keen to try it!

  • +1

Hi Rep, I just ordered the biltong maker, but I don't understand why the GST was added to the price listed. Is tax only added to the inedible items?

  • +2

It would be good if you actually had some sample photos on your web site of the different dryness grades, sliced.

  • +1

    thanks, ordered a kilo ; )

  • +3

Was on the fence about ordering, but seeing the good customer service swayed me over.

  • +3

Ordered a kilo because rep is awesome! Looking forward to having my first biltong!

  • +5

Got to say I've been pretty impressed with the overall service! Not only did the rep reply to my questions promptly, but delivery is quick too. Made an order on the 25th around noon and it arrived this morning by Express Post.

One suggestion though, I reckon it would be great if you could put a sticker with the nutritional content for future packagings. :)

  • +1

Do you normally get notified if your order is shipped? I got the order confirmation 2 days ago but nothing after that.

    • +3

On my prior orders I did, typically the day after. It looked automated, but had the tracking number in it, and a link to Aus Post tracking.

I haven't ordered this round - will probably on the weekend. I've got plenty here still :P

Possibly they have been overwhelmed by the response. Given the prior posts got a dozen or so votes compared to this one.

    • +2

I received an email shipping confirmation yesterday with the tracking number.

    • I'm still waiting too… have emailed to ask the status

  • +1

Received my order today, really fast shipping as always. Thank you!

(Eating biltong while typing this comment)
