Spotted this while looking for discounted stone or ceramic cookware. Friends have recommended to me stone over non-stick surface. Unfortunately no stock in my area and no delivery option for me. Hope this is useful for someone.

You might have luck with this pancake panalso for 10 bucks

TY - also out of stock within 20k LOL - Still, if I keep using the cast iron skillet, I'll at least know as soon as osteoporosis sets in..

These only stay non stick for a little while. We have had two both now stick

    • Did you have any experience with the stone pans?

      • I purchased a stone version from coles that seemed good quality, but it lost its no stick after about 6 months of daily use. Its not scratched, nor put in a dishwaher, but the centre is noticeably more dull. Still it was the best non stick up until then and i will buy another next time they are on special. Parents have the bluestone from the shopping channel, and they even changed colour from blue to black!

6 months is pretty poor - maybe you could take it back lol since its within 12 months.

I had the cheapo tefal $30 ones that at lasted 18 months before it lost its coating.

        • @voter1: Considering the coating may be carcinogenic (when detaches from pan) it may be worthwhile investing in these

        • @CandyMan:

when these stone pans lose their non stick surface - its the same thing?

          http://www.tefal.com.au/Guide_HealthEnvironment

these tefal ones also certify non carinogenic - and I would trust a multinational brand over some generic cheapo brand like this??

        • @voter1:

Isn't Teflon being phased out in the US, starting from this year?

        • @heyimsu: I think teflon is the whole family of coatings which cant/wont be phased out.

Its just the PFOA particular carcinogenic chemical being phased out.

from the tefal link above it says they use PFTE as the coating.

        • @voter1:

PTFE is the product, Teflon is the brand name.

      • I bought a classica diamond stone grill pan last year and it is as good as new. Nothing sticks. The best pan I ever bought. I like it so much that I have bought the 20 inch and 28 inch fry pans as well as the European saute pan.

Before these pans I bought a stone pan (I think that is what it was called) from Safeway. Cost about $60 or $70. It was lucky if it kept its non stick for a year. I have given it to my husband to use when he goes camping.

The classica are dearer but definately worth it. They are often half price at Harris Scarfe which brings them to around $30 to $55 depending on which pan you buy.

I should buy some and then invite some of the lawyers I met at court over for dinner. They all said to me they wish they could see me fry.

    • Congrats on the payout!
