  • these things aren't normally ~$5 ????

  • Does anyone have one of these? Thinking of getting one, would be great to hear some feedback/reviews.

    • Not much of a review but they cook the juiciest roast imaginable.

    • They are great. I have used one for years. They do the best baked potatoes.

    • Cheaper to run with Ozzie energy prices and easier to clean than a full size oven. Cooks fine once you get used to it.

      • Thanks for the replies guys, I think I'm sold! @kaneissik @Jay43 @flywire

    • Is that one halogen?

      • Apparently yes.

    • +1

I have had this one (kmart) for about 12 months.
Temp dial seems to become loose after a while but still works fine.
I am not sure if the temp is still correct but seems right.
Set the Temp and time (up to 60min) then eat from frozen.
Always use the extender ring or food may burn (needs room for air to circulate).

I could NOT do without one of these. Only use oven for pizza and lasagna now.
That is only because they don't fit in the cooker.

15min for frozen Chips at about 220 Celsius.
15min for frozen Chicken bits/fishfingers/etc at about 170 celsius.
30min for frozen Spring/Chicko Rolls at about 180 Celsius.

Also does whole frozen chickens/chops/etc and they taste great…AWESOME !!!

      Negs:
Bowl is easy to wash but metal rack is a bit harder and tends to rust :(
Bottom rack does NOT tend to get a great deal of heat.
Metal rack has three legs and is hard to remove when hot (no tool for this one).
Chips tend to fall through rack into bowl (load before placing into bowl).

  • We have one of the original easy cook branded ones for 10+ years and it hasn't missed a beat, although they cost a lot more so I'm not sure of the quality of this one.

  • I am not sure where the $5 that has been mentioned as come from, Just for confirmation it was $69 and now $49

I have a cheapie I bought from Catch of the Day - I think - about 3 years ago for around $15-20. Mine isn't halogen but uses a standard coil element which I think I prefer - I'd imagine the halogen element would be much more fragile. Having said that I reckon ours gets used a couple of times a week to cook virtually everything. I love it and will buy another when it dies.

  • Does anybody have any idea what the difference is between something like this and a Philips Airfryer style cooker? I've read all the specs and they seem to be very similar in what they do, except the glass bowl ones have a much larger capacity and take up more space.

I have an air-fryer style cooker which makes fantastic chips, nuggets, sausages, pies and the like, but it's a bit small if you're cooking for more than two people. I wouldn't mind replacing it with something like this, but just concerned it won't do the job. Need crispy chips and nuggets!
