650

Another awesome deal from Cebu Pacific. $157.51 all in return from Syd-Mnl. Not inclusive of baggage and meals of course, you have to buy them separately as this is a budget flight as most of us know.

Prices may vary. Tried July 18-Aug 1 and worked out to be $157.51

Sale period until May 28 or until sold out
Travel period July 15-Sept 30

Take note, departing from Mnl, you might need to pay what they call Philippine Travel Tax, which is around $50. http://www.tieza.gov.ph/index.php/travel-tax

  • Did they have any December deals last year? Not sure if I should book now or wait for a deal.

    • Wait for a deal!!! They run this kind of deals all year round so just be patient. :)

      • Thanks, I was thinking that, will keep looking

  • Argh already have my July trip booked and paid for. Paid more than that :(

    550 Philippine Peso equals
    15.616 Australian Dollar

hardly $50 departure tax. sometimes I wonder where you lot get this bullcrap information

    • +1

Why did he get neg'd for this? I have traveled to manila twice, and can confirm the tax is 550 pesos. He is saying this is a better deal that explained.

      • +2

NO terminal fee anymore, they got rid of it earlier this year - http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/669938/miaa-integrates-p550-ter…

I can confirm after two recent trips to Manila that this is indeed the case, the booth is still there but the guards will instruct you to go directly to immigration.

        • That's what the signs show as well in the airport. But when I was there on holidays with my wife, back in March, the fees still had to be paid. Confusing to be honest.

Or perhaps it's all gone now only recently.

        • +1

@plasmoske: Could be the case, both of these trips were in Apr/May.

No need for that kind of language here mate. Travel tax is different from terminal fee. It always nice to ask google. :) Terminal fee or what you call departure tax is 550php. Travel tax is newly implemented, just this year I think because I paid for it when I attended a wake a 3 months ago.

      • I paid the departure tax back in 2013. I don't think it's that new.

EDIT: Apparently I paid the Airport Fee, not a departure tax.

The Travel Tax is a levy imposed by the Philippine Government on persons who are leaving the country regardless of the country where the air ticket is issued and the form or place of payment, as provided for by Presidential Decree (PD) 1183, as amended. The Travel Tax must be paid by:

        • Citizens of the Philippines;

        • Foreigners holding a permanent resident visa Sec. 13 Quota or Preference Immigrant Visa

        • Foreign tourists or expatriates who have stayed in the Philippines for more than one (1) year.

        • +1

if this is the case just be alert for all foreign tourists. don't get trapped if you stay less than 1 year period, because you don't need to pay 'travel tax'

You get a neg from me for this statement:
"sometimes I wonder where you lot get this bullcrap information" - it's antagonistic and unhelpful. Statements like these taint great communities such as OzBargain.

      • Like your username, my son watches that show. :) obviously you do too. :)

      • +3

        It sounds like bullcrap

      • +1

        same goes here.

      • -3

it's helpful because the information was bullcrap

$15 departure tax for me, not $50

  • +3

Didn't pay anymore terminal fee when I traveled last month.
This is already included in the ticket price
if bought after 1st of Feb this year.

It says that "NOTE: Aside from the Travel Tax, a separate Airport Terminal Fee of PHP 750.00 is levied on all travelers departing the Philippines. No one is exempt from the Airport Terminal Fee."

    • Yeah,,that website might be outdated, it's only P550 Philippine pesos.

  • +1

750? Really? Was that from terminal 2? Only paid 550 from terminal 2 in Feb..

  • +3

Philippines travel tax is only applicable for Filipino Citizens and not for Foreign Passports.

    • include foreigners who stays more than a year. but if you don't know the rule they MIGHT charge you as well. just be informed

    • +1

I have an Australian passport but was still taxed. I was told I'm still a filipino. Haha joke time

Balakbayan tax - I've paid all sorts of strange taxes to men holding M16's…corruption is endemic and one of the the main reasons why such a great nation of beautiful people will never fulfil their potential

  • if there's any info about 100 peso tix like last time, share please

awesome just booked for Sept for 2 weeks! Hope it doesn't rain too much. might go watch Maroon 5 performing then.

    • Sorry Maroon 5 already sold out :(

  • do this airline even have pilots? wish they flew from gold coast

  • Fits in nicely with the second half of winter uni break.

Website was ridiculously slow for me, but the app worked marvellously. Surprisingly nice mobile app for an LCC.

  • Damn,no December deal :(

  • Does it cost more to add luggage later compared with including it with the initial ticket purchase? Can't find the price from their web site unless have already booked a ticket

    • Yes it's more expensive. Maybe use their mobile app, it's much easier.

  • My question is.. Im flying to manila next june and I will arrive to manila 7pm my next fly is going to hong kong at 10pm same terminal same airline, I just carrying my hand bag, so if I do web check (manila to hong kong)before depart from sydney to manila, do I need to exit the airport when I get there and then do the line to check my bag and go to hong kong? or could I just do a internal airport conexion with out leave the airport.

    cheers

    • It depends on your carrier.
Most budget airlines do point-to point, meaning that each leg is treated separately and you will need to pass through customs and immigration and then come back through again.

      Who are you flying with?

      • just me and my GF we've got 2 hours to get the next plane CEBU both trips sydney philipinas and philipinas beijin

  • I remember when my mother in law came here for a holiday 2 years ago,she didn't have enough money to pay the departure tax ? when leaving Manila,my wife, the kids and I were waiting at the Adelaide airport for her to arrive, but she wasn't on the scheduled flight… panic set in fast.

  • Book for an 8 day holiday in July. Now I need to apply for a visa. How I wish I could have an Australian passport ASAP.

Ah melbourne… When will you be having your direct flights!!!

  • What is there to do in Manila?

    • +1

Better to hop into another flight to boracay, beautiful place

      • Absolutely overrun with people when I went in March. Beautiful beaches nonetheless, but if you want a less crowded experience Camarines Sur is a good alternative.

Manila itself is just shopping, eating and drinking really.

I go to Philippines every month you only pay terminal fee from Manila 550 pesos but its 750 pesos if I leave via Cebu. Travel tax is for Philippine residents a corrupt government taking from poor people.

    • +1

I don't think poor people in Philippines could afford overseas travel though

      • +1

You would be surprised how many Filipinos are flying - around 10 percent of the population spend considerable time out of the country and return on a regular basis.
This is made up of Overseas Workers (live and work abroad, sending money home)
and Balikbayans (Filipinos who reside most of their time overseas having emigrated - but return for short stays [and to flash around their western wealth!])

      • The poor cannot, but many millions of Filipinos are middle-class/wealthy, and they certainly do travel overseas regularly — those same people enjoy a better lifestyle and standard of living to most Aussies, and can afford many luxuries that we can't.

  • Thanks for post will book a few more trips.

  • Wow so much confusion here regarding the tax!

The airport departure fee in Manila is now rolled into ticket prices so no more handing over pesos at the airport.

The departure tax is for filo residents only and should not apply to anyone here on OzB.

The traffic to and from the airport however is very real, and the Cebu-Pacific Sydney flight arrives into MNL at 17.30 - right in time for peak hour :(

    • Well it was supposed to be included from October last year but it was held up in court. My ticket shows no mention of terminal fee and my last few trips this year I had to pay the 550 terminal fee leaving Manila and 750 when I left from Cebu.

  • Bloody cheap as.

Are the seats squishy? old bloke from work is heading over on Cebu and he isn't a small feller so could be an interesting time for his seatmates.

    • Had bad luck on way home last trip I had a fat Korean guy next to me and he was over my side of the dam seat, we had elbow wrestle all the way home and his smaller gf was too selfish to move from the window seat. So these seats are made for smaller people.

      • That sucks, hopefully his flight isn't as full, the way back he will be right, he is going to bring his (15 year his junior) wife back so he will be all over her instead of others ;)

  • "$157.51 all in return from Syd-Mnl.
Not inclusive of baggage and meals"

Awesome price, budget airline, but your description contradicts.

  • I can't seem to find any discounted SYD to MNL flights?

How many PHP are people finding them for?

All the ones I find are from 12,000 PHP for just the flight….

  • Hi, can't seem to find $157 flights, is the deal over?

    • It's still on, just tried it now. But it's now up by $1
