maybe I'm crazy, but why would anyone pay $80 for this thing? let alone $180? lol.
The ZREX is meant for quickly cutting ropes and straps, for example safety belt…when the car is sinking in a lake…you would want to be able to cut and get out. Quick. So how much you value that is up to you.
I'd rather risk being trapped in my car and sinking to the bottom of the lake, than part with $80, thank you very much.
I agree with you to some extent if you're referring to people that will never use the tool. But if you consider how many little tools you're getting in one and the fact the it comes with a 25 year warranty it's not a bad deal at all - if you're going to use it. For example if you throw in the car and end up needing a tool on a camping trip then it's worth it. If you don't go camping and you don;t usually use tools then obviously it's a waste of money.
To be quite honest we sell a lot of this particular model (and if you speak to any Leatherman dealers they will confirm) - it's great value for money if you look at how many tools you're getting in one. Are Leatherman tools the cheapest? No way. Are they the best? Well you won't find many tools on the market in that price range that come with a 25 year guarantee.maybe because they are very well made tools that will last you a very long time?
I can't speak for this exact tool, but I have a leatherman charge tti that cost over $100 with bit kit. It's a multitool that can stay in my bag, has knives, pliers, all the most common driver bits and it will last. It's been used many times to do roadside work on my bike. I used it every day as a computer tech. Even now, as an office worker, it gets used to open boxes, mount monitors, etc.
If you use tools then a good multitool is definitely worth it.
tanabe88gg you're probably right but if you've finished opening letters here's what else is can be used for:

The wingman itself is only $48 at http://www.globaldirectshop.com.au/product_info.php?products…
Is it allowed to take either of these tools on to an airplane cabin ?
I'm pretty sure 90% of ozbargainers who buy this deal will use the z-rex for nothing more than opening parcels.
