Well apparently an extra $55 gets you an 'ultra-thin' 11.6" Acer with LED screen, faster processor (Intel AtomZ520 1.33Ghz) and bigger hard drive, plus I think it's a much newer model and I'm not sure if you can still get those 8.9" Asus models:

i would say no, $244 can get u a lot of other cheap netbooks nowadays, or you could wait for the new CULVs coming out soon. you should probably be looking at around $200 mark for new ones.
