Good price from the Good Guys.
For some reason the white version is $1149.
Someone is going to mention OW PM - price will become $948.10.

They're copying Apple, right down to the pricing.
Apple are like the pretty girl.
The answer is because they can
Would not pay $1000 for a Samsung. They have really lost the plot. Features that attracted people to Samsung are no longer there like Affordability, Removable Battery, Expandable Storage, inbuilt FM Player.
Defies logic why they are taking these features away, the very thing that brought people from iphones to Samsung.
To add to that, Samsung's warranty support cannot be matched with Apple's and therefore cant really justify forking out $1K on Samsung Device. My previous 3 smart phone's have been Samsung but will be looking at LG/Asus now
I think I've mentioned this already in other places, but Australia, I think, is the only place that faces this kind of price increase (that puts the price in different digit from last year). The price increase is likely to be because of the exchange rate (around 25~30c increase from last year if you compare AUD against USD). In short, I think we are going to see prices like that more in future, unfortunately.
The 4 digit price tag is what drives sales these days. People are too busy 1-upping each other, value doesn't matter only social status.
BUT for some, $1000 + for "a phone" is just getting ridiculous.
I was a Galaxy S2 and then currently S4 user, but wouldn't get the phones straight away, wait for price to go down $100 or so. But I will have to now consider other models rather than the flagship, because even though I use my phone more and more (95% of screen time for me is now on my phone), I can't justify $1000+ for a phone.
What I'm trying to say is I think I've found my tipping point in this equation.
I only yesterday found out about the Samsung Galaxy A5 - metal body, removable memory, 5" screen, $500 price - something I would probably go for today if I needed a new phone.

Those may be features that attracted you to Samsung, but not everyone cares about a removable battery, expandable storage, or FM radio. Affordability is more important of course, but with the AUD so low, that's not surprising.
To add to that, Samsung's warranty support cannot be matched with Apple's
YMMV, but I've had good warranty experiences with several Samsung devices, all without having to set up an appointment with a store. They're much better than they were ~2 years ago.
My previous 3 smart phone's have been Samsung but will be looking at LG/Asus now
I've gone through quite a few brands. I came back to Samsung with the S6 thanks to its excellent camera. I'm a slightly heavy camera user, which makes it worth it for me.
just wait for 3~6 months then the price will be in $700~800 range. in 6 ~ 9 months, it will be around $600 ~700.
It's been this price at HN for a few weeks now hasn't it?
$1148 according to their page.
Samsung is the new Apple these days.
Does OW have this phone in their store if you want to price match or is it online only?
After paying $806 for an S5 in May last year with no sign of Lollipop, Samsung can stick their latest offering up their Cazaly. They have stolen from and abandoned their customers who purchased their last flagship in good faith.
I was with Samsung on the SGS2, 3 and 4 but was angry at them for the lack of respect for their (loyal) customers (not much improvement, yet the price is getting higher and higher).
I moved to LG G3 instead of SGS5 thinking that my relationship with Samsung could be mended post SGS5. And now look at their SGS6! Beautiful, yes. Powerful, yes. Fast, yes. But then, it is an iphone running on Android OS! Now that the LG G4 is not as fast as the SGS6, I don't know what my next phone would be…
Time to unexpire this deal - back to $998 until Sat 30 May 2015.
Im not looking forward to how long it will take the 64GB model to come down into $800~ range, Amazing how they want so much more for purely 32GB extra.
