  • People actually pay for these? Who does AMD think they are kidding asking $250rrp for a card that struggles to do what a 7950 achieved 3 years ago?

The 270X is a slightly upgraded, rebadged 7870 GHz edition. Two of these in Crossfire will generally outperform a single GTX 970, and for less money.
In terms of performance, this card still meets the recommended specs for GTA V, and will be able to play most modern games on high settings.

Yeah I know what you mean. The sub $300 market these days is horrible compared to what we had for a while there with a good aussie dollar and the cheap 7870 and 7950s. I mean you could buy essentially the same card (7870) for this same price 2 years ago. I got a slightly faster card (7870XT) for $220 in February 2013… 7950s on sale were under $300 later that year. The market is what it is though I guess.

      • Good to know my 2 year old $230 card still performs like a $200 card today. 7870 for the win!

        • Unless you wanted a better gpu than your 2 year old card and wanted to spend ~$200. Then it ain't so good.

Cant live in the past folks. 2 or 3 years in computer speak is a lifetime. Couple that with a much weaker dollar over the same period, comparing what you could you buy back then is hardly relevant.

In today's market, this is actually a pretty good deal!

    Plus vote OP, thanks :).
