  • +14

    what the… ITS IN STOCK!

    • +2

And plenty of them too! Checked quite a few postcodes and there's heaps around.

  • +5

    Nice and shiny device.

Sorry, I got mesmerized by the shiny device … What is this again?

    • Looks like brushed alloy, no shiny.

The Kingston is half the speed, at best. 81MB read, 17MB write. Some sites/tests even say half of that!

      But-yeah, cheaper & delivered.

    • Thanks for the ebay link. Can use my ebay code and cashrewards cashback :)

    • Your find was awesome , props to you.

    • Thanks U1. Wasn't aware of your comment in that post. Saw the offer here on the front page of OW web page. Cheers mate.

      • +1

No worries, surprised it wasn't posted earlier, but not sure whether those specs I posted match the one OW is selling.

        • not sure whether those specs I posted match the one OW is selling

You reckon it could be a different drive?

        • @tightarse: Yes I think so because the speeds I saw written on the packaging look different to those published on the website.

  • +1

I have one of this. Looks nice buts its all plastic and incredibly light.

    • Would it go on a keyring easily?

  • Anyone tested the read/write speed on these? Can't seem to find info online.

    • +1

      Details here (thanks to unity1).

      • +2

Thanks TA. I never trust the manufacturer's specs unless verified. But even if I believe it seems slowish to write but plenty fast to read. Still a bargain but I may pass.

    • Yeah can anyone who owns one test its 4K speed?

Seems have been this price since March 2015 at their ebay site.

  • Decent deal… But I already have the supersonic Sandisk 128gb usb.

  • +1

Any idea if these are 'Windows to go' configured? My Sandisk cruzer blade is near useless to me because of its inability to be used as a bootable drive….

  • All this effort to save $0.50?

    • +1

Yeh, exactly same size USB3, waste of time for anyone with a job unless your going in to officeworks for something else.

    • +1

That does look pretty good considering free post, since OW is 100km from me.
      Wonder how they compare. Anyone?

      • +1

100km wow, even 10km it's a waste, considering fuel cost, car usage and opportunity cost of time(unless going in for something else). Hard to evaluate a situation logically when all you see is positive votes and the feeling of glee when you have snapped up a product listed on the might Ozbargain :)

      • No idea how it runs to be honest.
But it's cheaper for anyone further than 2km away from an OW and doesnt need it immediately.

        • Yeah well OW is $5.95 for postage I think, so if I buy 3 it's about $12 each.
Might go with the Sandisk though as it's a bit cheaper, and I've had a great run with Sandisk in the past.

50 cents, a lot of money! you save 50cents here and maybe you go somewhere else, maybe you save another 50 cents. Then you have one dollar! Then you take your dollar, you go to one dollar store, and you buy something else. be a man!

    • +1

and with eBay comes the risk of non-genuine item, unless the seller is Dick Smith or Good Guys then I'd be very wary, even COTD got some counterfeit stock of toothbrush head.

      • And condoms

  • Does this USB have a LED indicator light?
Anyone know what colour it is?
    Thanks.

    • +1

      no light on mine :)

      • Thanks Babo :)

        • +1

Mine has a blue on in the middle of it

  • One of the slowest USB3 drives out there with a very s-l-o-w write speed.

    • +1

yeah I bought it using the ebay $10 voucher and picked it up about a week ago. It does write pretty slowly for usb 3.0 (~20MB/s write, ~100 MB/s read)

  • +1

I bought this 5 or 6 weeks ago same price from Office Works so it has been around this price for a while now.

    • I bought 3 of these more than 6 weeks before at the same price.

  • Do these have a loop so you could put it on a keyring / lanyard? Thanks

    • +4

yes they do. It has a rectangular hole with size of about 5mm x 2.5mm x 2mm

      • -1

        Thanks

    • I just drilled a hole through mine.

  • -6

    I wouldn't buy a 16GB drive .. Sorry not me

  • +19

So I walk up to the Officeworks counter with a handful of sticks and my new half-price Adidas outfit and the guy at the counter say, "Ozbargain?"

    • blank stare Huh? Nah it's not a bargain living in Oz.

    • +3

Haha that was me if it was in Auburn store.

      • +1

I knew you'd be on here soon. Thanks bro!

        • Lol that's hilarious, I did the same thing when I was a customer at msy to another customer buying the same sale item

  • Thanks. I just bought one.

  • are these compatible with Macs? according to the System Requirements, Mac isnt on the list

    • +4

All drives are compatible with macs

      • +2

but how many Mac owners know that?

      • Its not the drive thats not compatible, its the software these companies install onto the drives that Mac users get confused about. You know that "built in" backup all and crap they put on it?

  • good price for the speed.

i just got my $5 kingston dt 16gb usb2.0 from kogan, it writes at an excruciating ~3.3mb/s inside windows… the horror!

    • ya, its painfully slow…
      wonder how fast the 32Gb usb3 is…
They were out of stock so gave full refund and $10 voucher

  • Heaps in store at Rockhampton. For some reason, the packaging says Retractable Pro.

  • About 10-15 in castle hill OW

    • This SanDisk is USB2.

  • Merged from Toshiba Retractable Pro 16GB USB3 Flash Drive $9.97 @ Officeworks

One of the best value USB 3.0 Drive, Read Speed up to 140MB/s

Stock are back again, just got 1 from QV Officeworks (VIC), many stocks on the shelf

    ====================

The Toshiba 16 GB Dash Flash Drive lets you carry your documents, photos, videos and more in your pocket. It utilises plug and play technology so you can start sharing and backing up your data right away.

The stylish and compact design makes it easy to take your files with you.
It utilises USB 3.0 connectivity for ultra fast data transfers.

The flash drive is also backward compatible so you can still use it in devices with USB 2.0 hosts.

  • Does anyone actually have a read/write speed result for this? The manufacturer claims seem a bit fair fetched…

    • Got a couple on the weekend, first one out of the box tested @ 30MBs write, 140MBs read. Real world tests put it at 48MBs write!!

Oh, and price has gone back to $11..

  • Plenty in stock @ Office works subiaco.
