EVERDURE E2GO BBQ - Rays Outdoors - $99 down from $269

902

This is a solid portable BBQ and is a bloody good buy at this price, previous best price posted on here was $175.

Now that the majority of butane cookers have been banned this is the way to go. If i didn't already have my Weber Q 2200 I would definitely be jumping on this one! Still considering it….

Had a quick look online and could not find it anywhere near this price elsewhere, reviews seems fairly solid. For $99 you can't go wrong.

  • This BBQ is bigger than I thought. Not so sure about its portability but great size for the occasional BBQ in the backyard.

  • Great bargain - thanks OP. Ordered one - I guess we'll see if they can actually meet the orders given the lack of stock in the shops.

  • link is broken… not a good sign…
do they sell these at Bunnings?

  • Just got sent a dispatch notice.

    No E2GO included.

    • I didn't receive any yet

  • +1

Need some advice here guys, I received an email saying that due to high demand of these, they are unable to fulfill my order however they have offered me this one at no additional cost.

    Gasmate Rio Portable BBQ

    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Gasmate…

Should I go ahead with it?

    • got the same email. No idea about this as a replacement though. Looks like an inferior product.

    • Same here. Gasmate products are medicore at best. I may just cancel.

    • Same….I don't think the Gasmate comes up the same in value. If anything they should offer us the weber baby Q Q1000 as the RRP is the same.

      • Funny you mentioned that because I had just called them asking for the exact same substitute. They've passed it on to a category manager and they will get back to me. I will keep you posted on the result.

        • Yes! Please do Thanks

I've called them weren't very helpful… I then emailed them.

        • @HAL:

Also interested in hearing a result on this. The gasmate alternative looks a bit 80's for my taste.

        • +3

Wouldn't hold my breath. Unlike this crappy bbq they will make a massive loss on webers.

        • @jg86tsv:

          looks a bit 80's

Yep, it looks like a $99RRP BBQ, something that would come from kmart. .

My other concern is the non-stick coating on the hotplate….. Like a non stick fry pan, this will no doubt flake off. :(

          Definitely giving it a miss.

    • Same… should I cancel, or go with the replacement. How can their computer system not know how much stock they had and not oversell.

      • I've replied and asked if I can wait for the stock to come in… even if I wait a few months.

    • My parents have this gasmate bbq, well an older version of it. Have had for a quite a few years. They have found it to be good. I have used it a couple of times and it worked well I thought. It probably has less space overall for cooking on it than the e2go though… plus it doesn't seem as suitable for roasting and some of the other things you can do with the e2go and webbers, but if you plan to just use for standard bbqing I think it works well. Good for small bbq sessions and quite portable for carrying around backyard etc.

I am glad I picked up my e2go and stand from the store yesterday, sounds like not many online orders worked out…

edit. one thing I have found with my parents gasmate bbq the connection to the gas bottle doesn't seem that great, you need to turn it very tight to stop any gas leakage and I find the rubber bull nose seals go reasonably quickly have replaced it a couple of times in the last year or so. But it is an older bbq so wouldn't say this is make or break for getting this.

Thanks for confirming its a piece of shite!

  • Ran around today to a couple of Bunning's then to Ray's to hunt for the stand. Both Bunning's didn't allow me to use the screenshot of the receipt (as shared by someone in this thread earlier). In the end, went to a Ray's and there was one more unit of the stand left. Bought it! And then, I got the email saying I won't be getting an E2GO BBQ set. Argh!!!

    • Lol don't count your chickens mate.

  • So disappointed. I bought it as soon as I saw this posted here and now i get the email they will not be fullfilling the order!!
On top of that, I've already bought the stand.

  • So… Anyone in Perth want to buy a stand?

  • +1

Rays has done this several times before…. bad form.

  • Seems like a great way to clear the stores of excess stands.
I wonder if they will offer refunds to the people that bough stands in good faith thinking they would be taking delivery of an E2GO

    • +1

Telephone Customer service rep advised me as long as you have proof of purchase they will refund stands.

  • I got the email with the offer of the substitute at no cost,
    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Gasmate…

Hope everyone will get the same.

    • Same. Got email saying due to high demand they can't give me my bbq. Offered the same crappy replacement. Fark dat. I asked for a weber q1000 instead. Won't hold my breath. Looks likes a refund it is.

      • what did they say?

  • +1

I asked for a refund, this doesn't have a grill plate, only flat plates!

    • Flat plate and griddle plate. Instant nope.

  • Replied back with a counter offer

    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Weber-B…

    See how it goes!

  • +2

I ordered 1 on the 7th May but they wrote on the 8th May saying they had no stock.

They offered this as a replacement at no extra cost OR a full refund.
    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Gasmate…

Good on them for doing the right thing by their customers.

  • +2

For me personally, the Gasmate Rio is actually an improvement over the e2go. I totally get if you prefer grill over flat/griddle plate, but otherwise this seems like a superior product. I own another gasmate BBQ, and it's fantastic quality compared to most. Also the reviews for the Gasmate Rio are all positive. I guess it all comes down to what you are most likely to cook with it. Either way, happy to be offered an alternative rather than just going straight to refund.

    • Care to share where you found the reviews? Only found 2 from product review and they aren't enough to push me across the line.

      • sure, aside from product review, which has 2 very positive reviews, mydeal and various 4wd forums (eg) (eg) etc etc.. they are all positive.. have found nothing negative at all.

        • I checked one of these out today in store. Can't comment on how well it works obviously, however the build quality seems really good. The only thing that is somewhat disappointing (but expected from the type of design) is that it's not ultra sturdy on the stand it comes with. It wouldn't be a problem for the purpose of BBQing, but you probably wouldn't want your toddler pole dancing from it!

  • confused….to go for the Gasmate Rio option of revoke the order and go buy a Weber Baby Q?

    Thoughts guys!?!?

  • sad times
was going to pick this up on the weekend

  • i ordered this late last night, got the same email. Decided to take the substitute as it reviews well and will only be used for camping and picnics. I think it may be better having the grill and flat plate as opposed to just a grill.

  • +6

Went to Bunnings today and showed them one of your receipts they priced matched that (accidentally) so I ended up getting BBQ FOR $80.10 and stand for $40.50

    • nice work :)

  • +1

Picked up the last one and the stand in local store. Anyone wants to swap Gasmate Rio with me? Have got weber Q so need a hotplate instead. Melbourne southeast.

    • Hello punky,

I'd love to get the EVERDURE E2GO BBQ and stand from you today. I'm in southeast as well. I have the Gasmate Rio coming soon. Do you wanna?

      • Sorry SkiZZiT,

Proposal rejected. My wife likes this one even better than Weber Q…

        • Aww, too bad…

  • nice, swap with mine today

  • +2

I have got Gasmate Rio BBQ, I would say its the best I used so far. I have used weber baby q but I definitely prefer Rio as it cooks perfectly. I bought it for $260, for $99 its real bargain.

    • It's an aesthetics thing for me… the Gasmate RIO is fugly !

      • I don't really care how it looks like, but surely does a great job.

    • hi ozdeals - I was looking for some specifications on the Rio as an alternative to the E2GO which seems to have pretty good feedback in the usual review sites. Found some 'so called' technical specs online but can't even tell if the body is aluminium or enamel coated steel. Understand the cooking plate is aluminium which is a mixed blessing really - light but the non-stick coatings tend not to stick to the plate either. Any more info on build quality etc would be greatly appreciated.

  • I was lucky today. Went to Bunnings, show them the receipt posted in here and got the BBQ grill and stand for $129. Thanks for posting deal and receipt.

    • which bunnings store was that? I rang the closest 2 stores to me and they don't stock this model.

      • Sorry for late reply, I bought it from Bunnings O'Conner store in WA. They have last one, and I bought it.

  • +1

Like a few others above, I've also asked if the Weber Baby Q can be the substitute. Personally, I'd be happy to purchase a few accessories like the cleaning brush and cover if it helps improve their margin in order to get the Baby Q at this price. Not overly big on BBQs but for $99, I'm happy to purchase one of these portable BBQs as a means to cook steak out on the verandah or family trips to the park (which is only once a year at xmas or new years so spending any more isn't worth it for me - not that I would being an OzBargainer).

Not overly keen on the Gasmate brand as a work colleague has had their non-stick coating come off on their Gasmate BBQ (could be them but I'd prefer not to chance it). Two other colleagues have Webers and swear by them so I'm more inclined to go with the more reputable product. Weber is also easier on the eyes… Mum finds it appealing and didn't knit pick at it compared to the Gasmate… so it's Weber or nothing if I wanna have an enjoyable day at the park when Mum's with us - lol

    • +1

I agree with everything you said, considering Gasmate didn't even bother updating their Product Specification and information sheet shows little care.

  • I also got the email and would like some help guys - I may have done something silly today and went to bunnings - they didn't have any E2GO BBQ's, but they matched the price of the stand for me at 40 bucks, which I bought anyway. How does it work with Ray's, if I refuse to take the Gasmate substitute, can I say that I will wait for the E2Go to be restocked? Or does that mean I automatically get a refund? My only two real options at this point are:
    1) Happy to wait for an E2Go, I like it and I already have a stand. A month or two even.
    2) Happy to take a Weber Baby Q - just need to know quickly so I can return the stand to Bunnings for a refund

Suggestions? Are they obligated to provide me with an E2Go? Or can they just refund me? Help!

    • +1

I've never known Ray's to restock and supply those that they oversold to.

If I were you, I'd return the stand to Bunnings and move on.

There's no guarantee they will substitute a Baby Q.

    • local Ray's store rep told me they were clearance stock as they weren't going to sell that line anymore

    • You most probably get full refund from rays.
Bunnings will also accept return on the stand.

  • Finally got a reply. Was offered the below at no extra cost. Weber was out of the question.

    1. http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Brahman…

    2. http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Brahman…

    4. BBQ 4 BURNER NEO CURVA EVERDURE( 290744)
      Was: $599.00 each
      Now: $179.00 each
      (NO LINK)

    5. The Gasmate Rio as initially offered.

    • +1

got the same reply. Well done Rays for going to so much trouble. Still probably going for the refund though. Those big burners are the ones you see on street collections, usually when people have upgraded to WeberQs after eBay BBQ promotions…

      • +1

Ended up getting a Brahman for my folks. I figure with the stainless steel burners they'd at least get a couple years out of it at worst. So still a decent substitute for $99

      • +2

I think the choices they have offered are quite good, and worth more than the $99 people paid for the E2GO.

Naturally they won't suit everyone, as with the exception of the Gasmate, the rest are not as portable

        • Agree. At the $99 they've provided some good offers. They're just not fit for purpose offers.

It's a pity that out of 5 options, there's only one portable option and it's a) not all that reputable compared to the Everdure let alone Weber (from my research and opinions form colleagues at least), and b) has a griddle and hotplate as opposed to grill which is what I'm after.

    • Got the same email. I'm not sure whether I go for any of these. Was after a portable in the first place & didn't really like the gasmate.

      • +1

Likewise. Whilst the larger units are pretty good value at $99, I have bugger all room as it is and the idea was to be able to easily take the BBQ to the park as well. Looks like I'll be going for a refund. A lot of doing for nothing again.

Might take the opportunity to reconsider this purchase and get myself a meat smoker instead.

        • +1

          now you're talking, Tex.

        • +1

          @denlife:

There's a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel where they were showcasing the new cookbook from one of the more well known meat smokers in Texas. Had Cobbie Smulders on it too. I've been enjoying American soul food a bit over the past year with a good number of options around Brisbane so I've grown to like smoked brisket and pulled pork. Smoking meat didn't look too difficult from that clip.

Anyway, I remember the clip as it had good food, was educational, had a good dose of humour, and an attractive woman too… winning formula!

    • I don't want any of the options, but it makes for a great and "cheap-ish" house warming present:)

      • Except you'd break your back delivering them. :)

    • +5

Your a sour little prick, arent you?

    • +2

It was part of a 'clearance sale' that had been running for a few days prior to being posted here. They had a technical problem, and offered replacements with equivalent RRP for no extra charge or an immediate refund.

You have NOT been swindled - you either got your money back, suffering no actual harm, or agreed to a BBQ substitute (they listed 5 if you enquired further), meaning you got a BBQ at a discount.

It's ok to be upset that they didn't have stock, and it's ok to be annoyed about the inconvenience, but you are WAY out of line suggesting dishonesty or fraud.

    • +1

If it's Webber Q or nothing… why did you buy an Everdure?

As LiamF has indicated, this isn't bait and switch. Some people did get the Everdure at $99. They just cleared out and the deal got OzBargained big time before they could stop more orders being put in.

Whilst I'd prefer the Weber Baby Q as one of the options as it's the next closest thing to the Everdure for me, I can't deny the options provided are still bargains. They're just not suitable for my needs.

  • Good afternoon,

Thank you for your reply to our offer of a substitute to the Everdure E2GO BBQ.

Unfortunately, we have since sold out of all the substitutes offered and can no longer fulfil your request.

As we have no other substitute to offer, we have now refunded your order - please allow 2-3 business days for it to appear back into your account.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused and a $20 discount off your next online purchase will be emailed to you with the confirmation of your refund. If you have any questions about this discount or any other issue, please do not hesitate to contact us

Once again, we apologise that we were unable to fulfil your order.

    Yours sincerely,

    • +1

      same here not happy :(

      • +4

I was good with everything until now… but this does piss me off. I responded to their email offer of the gasmate rio with acceptance and within an hour (last Friday). Seriously, if they'd just offered me a refund originally, I would have been annoyed, but I would have coped just fine. However to offer an alternative, and then 4 days later say "oh, whoops, we don't have stock of that either"… is frankly unacceptable! Not Happy, Ray!

    • Same. I wonder if anyone got a replacement. I replied to the second email within 5 minutes.

    • So are they allowed to do this? Need people to say if they were able to get a substitute, or if they didn't have enough to begin with again. Grr I really wanted a bbq.

      • +1

I'm guessing they realised the freight on the large BBQ's would cause them to make a fairly heavy loss. You would be talking $60 + in courier charges for some of them.

    • Pretty annoyed now… got the same email. I replied within an hour of receiving the list of alternatives and gave a 1st and 2nd preference.

      Poor form !

      • I don't get it. I accepted the Gasmate Rio, and did it promptly. I got a confirmation on Saturday morning. Now I get this email, yet they still have the Gasmate Rio on their website, and there is still availability locally in stores my state (apparently). I'm guessing that many of the others that have got this newer email are people who asked for alternatives to the Gasmate Rio?

        • and now it's been removed from the site, probably in response to my (and many other) emails..

    • What a waste of time, the subsitute for the original item which was out of stock also ran out. Looks like a copy and paste reply.

    • And I can only imagine it will be another fiasco when trying to purchase something else from them using the '$20 discount off your next online purchase"….

  • +2

Given the number of people who would have liked a Weber Baby Q, you'd think it would have been an opportunity to offer the weber for a bit more if we wanted to pay.

We'd understand that the Weber isn't a clearance item but a special offer would have been nice.

Anyway, I now look forward to receiving my refund and buying a meat smoker instead. I'm thinking Weber Smokey Joe with a thermometer to stick into the meat as a starting point.

    Thoughts from fellow meat lovers?

    • +2

Use your store credit on this for the thermometer and the other handy accessories like the basting brushes, I picked mine up on Friday, the other utensils that come with it are decent to, well if they don't "sell out"

      http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Braham-…

      • +1

Christ, now you've gone and done it!! You linked it on OZB, so its sure to 'sell out'. :)

Cheers for the link though. I remembered I still had a $20 +free delivery voucher from last years' Rays torch deal issue.

I used it up to buy this. Had to add something to bring price to $21, so that I only pay $1 for them delivered, as their system doesn't allow you to buy something for $0 (Inc. voucher)

      • Thanks for the link mate. Hopefully the discount voucher from the refund will come through soon. Delivery kinda high for two of these, esp compared to the flat $7.95 when getting two everdures e2go.

      • Discount voucher finally came through and the deal was still on so I ordered two… yet again, one for me, one for my bro. I hope they honour this order.

  • +1

This is just total BS. I wonder if anyone actually was able to score one of the substitutes. I also replied immediately and got the same email they are out of stock.
I wonder if they are genuine with their claim. I went to my local store on the weekend and they had floor stock of the neo curva they were offering. I'm going to ring them tomorrow to check.

    • I emailed back accepting the Gasmate Rio immediately, received confirmation on Saturday, and have had a dispatch notification on Monday. The BBQ sat in tracking til this afternoon, when it updated with a 'in transit' status on the order tracker.

From my perspective it seems pretty genuine - I do think their inventory and order system is a complete shocker though. From what I can tell, the system allows them to sell an item online that they have in-store, but the items aren't immediately set aside - if someone in the store takes it to the counter, the staff will sell it to them.

    • I received my substitute Gasmate this morning.

  • +3

Certainly a frustrating experience. To hopefully help someone out, if you were lucky enough to grab an E2GO BBQ but missed out on a stand happy to sell you mine for the same price I paid for it ($45). Still as new in box. Otherwise back it goes to Rays Lidcombe on Saturday.

    I'm in Southern Sydney.

  • Has anyone got their refund and $20 off voucher as yet? I'd imagine they've probably got a fair few to process but just wondering if people are getting their money back yet?

  • I haven't gotten anything yet!
I just checked their website & guess what, the gasmate is back in stock and one of the brahmans!

  • If anyone's in Sydney and has been offered a Gasmate Rio but doesn't want it, I would be happy to take it off your hands for $130. Pm me if you interested.
