I got this from Castle Hill Bunnings about 3 weeks back for $89. I actually went to buy the $139 one (http://www.bunnings.com.au/gerni-1-4kw-classic-110-4-high-pr…) but that model was not available.

The water pressure is 'OK'. Tried to clean a concrete footpath and felt the water pressure is not strong enough to clean it in one go.

did having a second go at it clean your concrete footpath?

      • No I didn't have a second go at it yet (thanks to all the rain in Sydney). But it looks like I won't be able to clean it fully in second go, unless I spend lot of time and water. If you are after a pressure cleaner, I would recommend you to go for Gerni 110.4 or higher.

That's what most people do with them…dont waste your money…buy a karcher.

        • @crohns:
I've got the bottom of the range (or near enough to) Karcher and while it can clean the driveway the pressure is not as high as I would like and it takes a very long time and a lot of water. I don't regret the purchase but wish I'd bought a more powerful one (possibly petrol powered).

@crohns: I'll never buy another Karcher. They are built to fail with their plastic hose connectors that bend and break and the plastic pump housing. Don't waste your money. Buy a Gerni!

        • @Evil-Elmo:
Get what you pay for …the cheap one from Bunnings as mikie says is built to fail and only lasts 12 months if your lucky ,it's price point is directed at weekend warriors and is disposable.

        • +1

          @crohns:
I completely agree, although it has lasted longer than 12 months (going on 3 years, but with only light use).

My point was that Karcher's are not immune from the comments in relation to this Gerni. For what it's worth, I did not neg you.

        • @Evil-Elmo:

          I did not neg you.

I take negs with a grain of salt…that said some people on here will neg you for just having an opinion.makes them feel better

  • Would something like this be ok for cleaning gutters?

I've got gutter guard, which is good for keeping leaves out. But there's still a build-up of dirt / muck in there over time. Because of the way the gutter guard was installed it is a pain to remove, so I'm hoping a high-pressure cleaner might be able to blast through the gutter guard and remove the muck.

    • +1

Possibly, but this will spray muck everywhere! even up under the roof and into the roofspace.
My suggestion would be to remove the gutter guard every 2 years and scrape the muck out.
I know your pain, I have the wire gutter guard that is screwed into the gutter edge every 300mm. Such a pain to remove and slices your hand up.

      • +1

        Sigh, I thought so.

I'm honestly thinking of just removing the gutter guard for good. We don't have that many leaves landing on the roof, and I'd rather be able to easily get at the gutters to get rid of muck.

  • Has anyone tried this to clean cars? Can you attach foam lance on it, does anyone know? Been thinking of getting a pressure washer to wash the car, but am still new to the pressure washer market.

    • +7

As a OZ Bargainer, our cars are only been washed by rain.

      • I Lol'ed at this. Washed by rain, dried by the wind!!! :P

        • But then you guys either have to fork out thousands to get your car resprayed, or you drive around with a devalued and ugly looking car.

That's fine if you just bought a cheap old 80s hatchback to get from A to B and don't care what it looks like. That'd be a legitimate ozbargain approach. But if you have spent extra getting a car that is nice, then you're ripping yourself off by letting it deteriorate.

I actually think buying a dirt cheap car is fairly sensible though, if you have no interest in cars. But for me, they're also my hobby.

    • Yes, there is a kind of a 'bottle' attachment where you can use to put cleaning liquid and attache to the spray gun. Also, I couldn't get all the dirt off by just using the pressure washer. Bit of scrubbing is needed.

      • Thanks Maxx. I might give it a go given the price.
