  • Is there limitations to being able to scan? I thought certain retail scanners wouldn't recognise barcodes due to the screen design.

Will only work with Morden scanners - Coles / Woolworths updating theirs. all Nandos , Boost juice , myer , qantas etc .. have mobile scanners not the outdated laser scanner. Tested

Awesome. Thanks. Will definitely give it a go after 6pm.

Thanks Mate, Let us know your feedback.

        • @iriekid: it appears by getting the app via the code doesn't recognise I own the app, therefore won't allow me to give feedback in the App Store.
So here it is. Like many others I agree the app needs a loyalty card category or at worst a 'other category' so you can create your own. Also I'm not sure if this is a glitch but every time I create a new entry it shows me a barcode with no barcode number. However when I edit the entry name and save it, the barcode changes and the barcode appears.
I tried using it today with fly buys (before doing edit trick) and the scan did not work.

        • @Slo20: this fix is submitted to the App Store. Also you can choose more categories in choose more category . Ensure you scanning with the scan next to the efpost device not the main big scanner.

I just use Stocard, how is this better?

      No Ads
Backup your barcodes to your own iCloud Drive for your eyes only
No third-party backup of your barcode data
No tracking of your usage of products and barcodes
Supports iPhone , iPod touch and Apple Watch

Just A simple way to backup your cards and use them, not pass on your usage to others.

      • Stocard lets me know what's on sale for each card, does yours?

Also, I don't get any ads.

          no sorry

      • Backup your barcodes to your own iCloud Drive for your eyes only

        Yes, secure

        • +1

          Hack vs Unsecure Backup :-)

    • Helps support an Aussie developer and is free, so that's a bonus. Is Stocard Aussie developed? Also, apps do tend to evolve so perhaps a good idea to jump onboard early whilst its free even if it doesnt have all the features you want right now.

Helps support an Aussie developer and is free, so that's a bonus.

Not showing you what discounts you can currently get for that card is not a bonus…

        • Fair enough. Good feedback for dev.

Using mobile-pocket at the moment, and find it does everything I want,
Will check your app out now.

    EDIT:
    Thoughts so far,
    1. Allow a way to save the front/back of the card.
    2. More categories
    3. Icon/Images I have 30 cards, a coles/wollies/boost/ect logo would help choose quicker

    • will add the requested functions in the next update, thanks for your input.

        Wow!
Well if you are open to more…
        4. Allow rotation so barcode and number are larger ( for those times the scanners don't work )
        5. When adding the logos, maybe some sort of "supported" settings, i.e. Works, some branches, fails
        6. Add cards without barcodes ( i.e. Rebel )
        7. Less BoomBar logo at the top of the screen ( More room for cards )
        8. PIN/TouchID to open the App

Drop me a PM and I can give you more if you want it :)

those seem like useful suggestions are you an app developer?

        • noted thanks

        • @venomx2: yes, but also an avid user of a competing App, so would love to see this App be even better :)

  • Wow… but ummmm….

So, somebody tell me why I would bother with this.

I can use the inbuilt camera app to take photos of barcodes, and then to display them on screen. Can also do all these things…

    • No Ads
    • Backup your barcodes to your own iCloud Drive for your eyes only
    • No third-party backup of your barcode data
    • No tracking of your usage of products and barcodes
    • Supports iPhone , iPod touch and Apple Watch

PLUS it can do most of the suggestions made in the thread, including:

    1. Allow a way to save the front/back of the card.
    2. Allow rotation so barcode and number are larger ( for those times the scanners don't work )
    3. When adding the logos, maybe some sort of "supported" settings, i.e. Works, some branches, fails
    4. Add cards without barcodes ( i.e. Rebel )
    5. NO BoomBar logo at the top of the screen ( More room for cards )

Plus it can do all these additional things:

    1. Instant zoom / resize of each barcode, as required.
    2. Can share barcodes via email, messages, and almost any other online method.
    3. Collect barcode data in the night tie, using flash.
    4. Ability to crop, and edit barcodes
    5. Ability to adjust colour, contrast etc of saved barcodes
    6. Absolutely ZERO risk of some random Brisbane app developer obtaining your data, and your codes.

So, tell me why I should bother getting YABCA (Yet Another Bloody Camera App)?

    • I just installed and had a quick look, I guess it's like the difference between storing a bunch of photos in a shoebox compared to a nicely bound photo album. Shoebox works but album is nicer.

Needs some work but a very nice start I think.

      • Thanks, will improve with coming updates.
