The only real let down is the screen resolution unfortunately. But the CPU is very powerful and the gfx card is a good midrange card. Do keep in mind that this is a Latitude model.

I remember there's a 7-days-no-question-asked if you change your mind. Done this a few times.

        • @brokenglish:

Cheers, ill know for next time. Need it this weekend for a business trip or else id swap it out. Ah well.

  • What do people think of this machine from a usability perspective? Snappy with the SSD?

  • those 7240 come with no backlit keyboard and only 3 cells battery, but has a FHD touch screen. better look at reviews on battery life before buy one.

    • Yeah it sounds like they only last 4 hours or so. Fine for my needs though.

      • I have over 30 of these (E7240)… for work. Good quality and onboard WWAN is handy. 95% of the time I leave it connected to power and through a KVM, but when using it in the field, yep the 3 cell battery equates to around 3 hours. Quite light and good business grade build quality. Only had 1 go flaky with a mystery critical Win 7 error. Re-installed OS and running fine.

Edit - forgot to add, yes the SSD is very quick on startup. No complaints other than a flickering screen on external monitor which I believe is a KVM related issue.

        • Does Dell sell an extended battery? can see it on the US site, but cannot see pricing for AU.

        • @scrimshaw:

I remember tracking this model a few months back and the version with an extended battery certainly does come around every now and then on Australian Outlet. However, all the ones with the larger battery that I have seen had a lower resolution though :(

Pity they don't sell the extended battery separately in Australia.

@scrimshaw: they do have the 4 cells in AU which is even cheaper(a lot!!).

  • I got a Latitude e6530 from DFO couple of years ago with an i7. Had a better wifi card than this deal. FHD screen 1920x1080. Swapped out the HDD for an SSD. Works really well except the screen is really crappy and it overheats from time to time.

    • it doesn't have mSATA does it?
