seems like a good price. I paid that much for a 280x a year ago :'(
With the high failure rate of the R9 290/X especially from Gigabyte I'd only consider these if they were local.
this is the worst time ever to be buying an AMD card what with the 380s/390s imminent
I wouldn't call it the worst time ever, it's likely the 380x will just be a rebranded 290x and it will likely cost around this much on release considering it already pretty similar in performance to the 970.
The 380s use a completely different architecture than Hawaii.
Do you have a source? Because all the leaks so far have suggested that the 380s are rebrands. Also, because AMD has been seen to do this a lot recently.
Although it is definitely possible that 380s will be completely different which why I said it was "likely".
@Synk: My understanding was the specs are the same as Hawaii but different silicon?
@garethb: First of all this isn't even possible, since using a different nm already means that the spec is different.Second of all if anything the rumors have suggested that AMD will stay the same at 28nm, and instead AMD and Nvidia will skip 20nm altogether for 16nm for the generation after the next.
Great price, great performance… but AMD…. just not happy, next card will be nvidia.
I actually agree with you mate. I have an AMD card and I'm already considering binning it and wishing for the days my NVidia was a reliable staple for many years.
Tempting price for what you get, but I seriously doubt an AMD will be my next video card.
Literally bought a used one hours ago haha
Great price. If I didn't have one already, would get one for sure! Excellent bang for buck value at that price
About a $50 saving over other places, not bad.
