I was originally going to go from Paris straight to Nice and spend a few days there, but now I am thinking of stopping over in Marseille, then making my way to Monaco via Saint-Tropez and Nice. Also, on my way to Venice I would love to stop over in Milan. Is this doiable in 4 days, or would I be pushing it?
Trains/buses will be my means of transport…
I did Paris - Milan (overnight) - Monaco (3 nights) - Lyon driving between. It was a horrible waste of time.
The time from Paris to Milan meant a whole day was lost, Milan at night wasn't that great (got chased by gypsy's and offered to by Pro's), basically just found a hotel and slept, woke up and long trip to Monaco via Genoa (which is an awesome place - but again, gypsy's and pro's).
Monaco is amazing, but you would expect it to be with its wealth.
Nice was a bit odd, apparently there is a nice side to it and a slum on the other, i couldn't tell the difference.
My best suggestion is write down what you want to see in those places, if one of them has quite a few things, spend the time in that place. Unless you really want to do the Contiki style 'there's that thing, cross it off the checklist' spend more time in less places. It will make the memories much better than all the traveling between destinations.
