Powered by 2 x 8W speakers, the XW-BTSA1 uses Bluetooth connectivity to play music wirelessly from Bluetooth-enabled devices. Near-Field Communications (NFC) technology lets you easily connect your NFC-equipped device to the XW-BTSA1 by simply holding your smartphone on the contact point indicated on the speaker to create the Bluetooth connection. There’s no need to make complex settings in the device menu. If your smartphone doesn’t support NFC, you can connect via Bluetooth manually.

Respect! That's recursive…
I went crazy trying to find out why my Android had that weird N in the top bar.
Actually, there is a typo. Actually NFC is not plural, it's "Near field communication". http://nfc-forum.org/what-is-nfc/
can anyone comment on how this would compare to the Sony SRS-X3 ($99 delivered)
I had x3 before, but lack of bass, so I gave up. But this would be better than x3, as it's pioneer. So no issues.
If you want a portable speaker, then this won't be your choice. I haven't heard the sound of the Pioneer, but I like the x3. And it is portable, I can get 6 hours or so out of mine.
Dont know why you got negged for sharing your experience - I evened it out :)
would this be suitable for a bedroom? I have a tv mounted in ceiling and looking for a soundbar type speaker to go with it?
in fact, are these better than the ones from Target? the $59\$69 ones. :)
worth noting, no built in rechargeable battery.
Would this work for Multi Speaker Connections?
Would like to have a couple connected to the same device
Ok… I had a chance to listen this Pioneer speaker at JB HI-FI and compared it with other speakers. In regards to the Sony SRS-X3 it sounded much better clearer and louder. The Sony speaker X3 is not loud enough, it is very quiet speaker. The catch is that Pioneer requires power cord, it does not have build in batteries. You can though try 12V battery, it should work, you make not get the max vol but it will work. For the money it is very good deal plus free ship. But forget about Sony X3 its worth nothing as it makes very small sound.

near field communications…. is that what it stands for.
I always thought it meant something else.
