Based on their current PS3 deal I would assume shipping will be $9.95
There werent too many fans of COTDs last PS3 deal but I think this is a little better

Hopefully this thread wont turn out like the last one did…lol

  • 1800 probably means about 2 minutes worth of sales. At least we know the odds this time. Try buy one if you're a gambler ;)

  • some people would be spewing if they bought the recent cotd ps3 deal

All previous purchasers should have received an e-mail and a $20 refund shortly.

Wow, it almost seems like COTD is trying to fix their bad reputation! I applaud your good work. Keep up the honest and open communication!

        • QQQ has been repairing previous damage for a while and has been commended for it, but some people just couldn't be reasoned with.

          • @AntMan76: Yes, that's been clear, but with all due respect to QQQ, they do still have a long way to go before I'll consider buying any big ticket item from them or any item where customer service may be required, or after sales support/warranty.

Baitathons still leave a lot to be desired too…

            But they are clearly trying.

  • Thanks QQQ

  • 459.90 Delivered - $50 refund.. $409.90 Delivered aren't bad at all..

I don't know about this one.

I would think your local retailers offering $499 bundles with couple of games worth more than $100 would be the better buy….taking into account warranty issues and posting stuff back and forth….

    • You don't post it back to COTD, you send it directly to Sony (iirc).

      • +1

You dont need to post it.
There are physical Sony repair centres located in capital cities (probably large non capital cities too)

But as ash said, the deals where you get games included are probably better value as games are expensive.
If you dont like the games you can always ebay them

    • +1

Im not a big fan of the bundles out at the moment.
Most of them are only worthwhile if you were intending to purchase the bundled games in the first place.
Sure you can ebay them or trade them in but it might be a bit difficult getting back more than the ~$90 difference.

I myself dont have any problem with buying games from overseas, ebay or from the pre-owned sections of EB, JB or GAME. Im sure if you shop around you can get the games in the bundles for less than the ~$90 difference. Therefore a deal like this appeals to me much more than any bundle.

  • +2

Im glad that they are specifying the amount available.
This at least seems more open of a sale admitting the amount.

    applauds

  • I'm still waiting on a $100 paypal refund to come into my account, this is from COTD also, the deadline for the payment is midnight tonight though.

  • off topic - but QQQ- you should start having some good 1 day specials on health products (protein etc, not near use by date). I know there is 1 in the US that does it with protein, NO, creatine products etc (forgot the name). I am not talking about cheap $10 ab balls, which you have from time to time.

donno about u guys, but i just tried clicking buy, and it works!!!

yeah, something weird is happening every time I go to the checkout: it lets me.

      • ^^LOL^^

      • hahaha.

A preorder for PlayTv bundled would be good

    • OR bundled games. GAME (http://www.game.com.au/consoledeals/playstation3) is offering PS3 Slim with NBA 08 and Juiced 2 at $488. They're old games, but it's a pretty good deal. If you compare it with COTD it works out to be $44 a game. It's not bad.

    • Agreed! How about it QQQ? The retailers have insane prices $150+. When you can pay to import the same thing yourself for around $120 something must wrong. How about a PlayTV catch? There's got to be room to make money there and give a great bargain.

      • Yes, I might be tempted to give COTD a chance if they have a great deal on the Play TV.

  • Do you reckon any retailers would price match or at least go close?

  • If you want just the console without any bundle, I don't think any retailer would get close to price matching this. There isn't much of a margin on PS3's, so I would imagine $410 would be below cost.

However, like ash's comment says, if you want some games and/or accessories, then you might be better off going with a retailer.

    • do any retailers let you have a choice of bundled games?

most bundles have games im not interested in.

  • This intrigues me, but who at the end of the day stumps up the $50.00? The retailer? PayPal? Do they split it? PayPal couldn't possibly be getting a commission nearing anywhere near $50.00 on a transaction like this so where does all this magical money come from?

You would think retailers would be in a better position to offer discounts on transactions that don't use PayPal? So why all this encouragement to use it? Is this just the beginning of PayPals plans to take over the world? LOL.

    • There are many, many supplier rebates behind the scenes that consumers will not know about. I see PayPal $50 rebates on a few sites so I can only assume they're doing a deal like pay us $20-30 and we'll pay your customers $50 back.

I don't doubt the consoles are being sold at cost/below cost, but loss leaders have a purpose :)

  • this with playtv (ofcourse not this cheap) and ill scramble for my paypal/cc details. or even a 2nd controller.

    • same here

  • Hey that is a great offer. Thanks COTD to open the offer early for the OB community.

I agree with some of the comments that COTD is pulling together and gaining on the lost ground.

On the earlier node I had said a few things of how I don't find a real good deal with reasonable quantities on COTD anymore. I had suggest that COTD have some sort of counters to show the quantity available.

Well declaring 1800 PS3 upfront is a good move. It leave the buyers with some chance to get the deal. 1800 is a pretty large number, considering Sony's free PS3 deal has been their since last month still it shows around 9000 available of the original 25000.

Any effort at good customer service calls needs to be lauded and support.

I got my PS3 from Sony, but I would certainly pass on this deal to my friends.

  • still available today after 10hrs on sale for public!

perhaps there are too many good deals in the market (BIGW offers PS3 120 for $488 all inclusive and no waiting for cashback that includes a blu-ray remote and 2 x blu-ray movies)!

  • My PS3 just arrived! Nice work COTD!

  • Looks as if COTD is having issues moving these, still stock 4 days later!
