  • so you used an ALT link, since cotd is banned here
mod might stll take it down
    Good Deal though

    • I thought it would be worth sharing despite the ban :)
      I mean what ban…lol
Mods feel free to remove this deal if necessary

    • Why is COTD banned?

    • COTD has been banned?

      • only temporarily due to excessive negative votes

    • COTD is banned? I was wondering why the offers were much more diverse lately.

  • I guess Ebay will be flooded by free PS3 from Sony promotion, since the retail price is around $500, I would expect a much better price on ebay.

  • I think now less than $500 with game everywhere. Why pay that $$ at COTD? You can always trade the game back to make it cheaper.

  • ok but not great either given I got one for around $430 - $440on launch from FishPond without any paypal cashback.

I'd be inclined to get one with a game you want at retail or trade back the games. Sure some of the packs out there atm will get you over $70 if you want it.

  • +1

average price on ebay in recent weeks seems to around the $400.00 mark
the cheapest I could find was this one at $319 + $19 post

I agree the price is good but not fantastic. I was lucky and got mine for $369.00.

  • Why is COTD banned? This is the only way I get to see the special subscriber deals because all my email addresses think they are spam! :(
Please allow the subcriber specials to be posted Mods!

You should be able to whitelist their email address if you are using most popular webmail providers.

  • i would rather go for a bundle pack @ good guys which includes 120gb ps3, fight night round 4, assassins creed and dark knight blu ray for $499

  • -2

    RRP is $499

For those without paypal… it will costs $480.

That very expensive … not a deal at all…

even with paypal.. $430 is not great…

and they don't even have a shop front!! no customer service…

think about the hassle if you want to make a return! no.. u can't just bring it back 5 mins down the road.. get ready for some time consuming and painful emails

    • +2

What is your justification for those assumptions?

When deals like this come up I think of those people who don't happen to live near a shop where there is a GG/HN/EB/Game etc. There will be people in more regional areas who love these types of deals. Also some people just want the PS3 itself for whatever reason. Heck, I got mine initially as a bluray player only as I already had an Xbox360 with several games to play.

And what's the problem for the consumer if they use Paypal? You can link a savings account to it too. Doesn't only have to be CC all the time.

    • +3

Kazi, have you seen the 120gb slim PS3 console cheaper than $430.00 and available in reasonable quantity?
If so please feel free to post a link

      For those without paypal…

It wouldn't surprise me if more than 95% of Ozbargaintes (ozbargainers is so yesterday) have a paypal account which they use on a regular basis. Paypal is all for the consumer and you wouldnt be much of a bargain hunter if you didn't have an account. The deal with the second highest positive votes ever on ozbargain was in fact a Paypal cashback deal.

Also I have noticed that of the 5 negative votes you have cast, 4 of them have been for COTD… Angry you missed out on that $199 wii much? lol

      • 95% of Ozbargainers have paypal —— LOL

        $199 Wii … LOL …

        You are full of FACTS!

I second kazi for his comments

I have never ordered from COTD, however I do have issues with those chinese run so-called online shops

BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN ORDER ONLINE, ESPECIALLY FROM CHINESE

Most of them are 1-2 men bands and pretending they're large organisations by replying your messages in different names. Googled on their feedbacks? 90% of them were written by themselves.

I'm interested to know what could you do if you ordered an orange and they shipped you an apple? Nothing. Absolutely nothing you can do to get your money back. Paypal? Get real! You're "protected" by so-called "Paypal buyer complaint policy" which is different from the "Protection Policy" which eBayers have. That means you can lodge a complaint, but at the end neither paypal nor the seller would give a damn, since you will not be able to proof they've shipped you an apple but not the orange which you've ordered.

Asking for $2 refund is like costing their arms and legs which they'll just play you around for weeks.

        • Not sure about other online companies but COTD do actually have a store front (in the form of Daily Deals). It's somewhere near Clayton/Dandenong area. I've been there a few times. But then again some stuff sold on COTD aren't available at DD so can't verify about their refund policy. But no, it isn't run by two guys.

        • BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL WHEN ORDER ONLINE, ESPECIALLY FROM CHINESE

I dont know of anyone who has had major issues with online Chinese stores.

I often order from the smaller stores as i find they have better customer service and are able to ship the products faster than the larger stores.

Asking for $2 refund is like costing their arms and legs which they’ll just play you around for weeks.

I have never had any refund issues and i have had them from a few dollars all the way up to around $60
Reasons have been me changing my mind and the product has not shipped to a DOA where they have issued a refund on the spot.

        • +3

Not only is your post completely BS its also very racist since you singled out 'Chinese'. You seem to know nothing about COTD and it shows in your stupid comments.

What happens if you receive an apple when you ordered an orange? You call up Customer Service to rectify the problem. If that doesn't work you get in contact with your local regulator like VCAT or ACCC. COTD is an Australian business and therefore governed by rules and regulations just like any other store.

Do you research before you post some more dribble.

          • @zhenjie: comment retracted
zhenjie was not replying to me.

          • @zhenjie: Not intended to start a fight but you're the one who don't know chinese. and yes, you're a Chinese !

Yes I've done my research, years before you birth, thanks for your reminder.

            Customer service? Yeah right….

ACCC/VCAT? do you know how to spell that kids? do they deal with such issues?

No one seems to have answered the question "What happens if you receive an apple when you ordered an orange?". How can you proof to anyone that you've received something not as described?

Just ignore my post if you think I'm BS. Start getting hit hard by scams and you'll realise the real world of internet transactions.

            • @hsct:

“What happens if you receive an apple when you ordered an orange?”. How can you proof to anyone that you’ve received something not as described?

There is this invention called a camera.
You take a photo and send it to them.

If the mistake is their fault and they want to return the item they will compensate you for the postage cost too!

Start getting hit hard by scams and you’ll realise the real world of internet transactions.

You use this thing called caution.

              • @anthony: Exactly!

Only if they're being responsible and tell you "yes it's our fault, we'll replace it. Sorry about that"

How much do you expect from a warehouse style business that opearates at 10 thousand miles away ?

                • @hsct:

Only if they’re being responsible and tell you “yes it’s our fault, we’ll replace it. Sorry about that”

Well they can see what you have ordered and if you give them a photo of what they sent they can see that too.

I placed an order from a Chinese online store and the product arrived and was defective.
I advised them of this and they had a replacement in the post on its way to me before i had even sent the defective item back.
They also fully covered the shipping cost to send the defective item back.

I have had worse service from Australian businesses!

                • @hsct: The service I've received from the most famous 'chinese warehouse run' store, Deal Extreme, has so far been surperior to any service I received from Australian stores. So your point is mute.

                • @hsct: Guess what hsct. This will come as a surprise to you, but COTD IS NOT IN CHINA!

              • @zhenjie: "You call up Customer Service to rectify the problem" — what if they don't pickup your calls? you might try 000 i guess

what if they claim they hold responsibility and you never hear from them thereafter?

I know all of these are based on assumptions. It's not that bad if you lose a few buck for an iphone case, but how about the price of a LCD TV ?

Yeah they are legit, all of them are, that's where scams are coming from.

Oh well… still no one can answer the question about how to solve disputes with online sellers. Do we all want to lay our faith purely on their "company goodwill" ?

What I'm try to emphasis is, who can enforce the seller to refund you the money if they insist not to?

"Scams are for suckers" ? Can you say you will never get hit by scams? Or you're also a sucker?

                • @hsct: Yes, I can say I've never been hit by a scam. I do my research unlike some others…

You seem to imply COTD and similar online business sites are scams!?!? WTF. Of course people put faith into online business. you're the only one who seems to think they are all scams lol. Are you telling people never to buy online ever again? What nonsense.

Seems like someone forget to take their crazy medications today….

                  Lets summarize your points.

You think COTD is a scam with a warehouse 10,000 miles away = WRONG
You think online businesss run by Chinese are scams = WRONG
You think online business can break the law and get away with anything = WRONG
You think online business is not regulated = WRONG

                  • @zhenjie: oh btw… I asked "Can you say you WILL NEVER GET HIT…", I did not ask "..HAVE YOU BEEN…"

                    1. I have not ordered from COTD so I cannot comment
                    2. "Online business run by Chinese…" I'm sure most of them are doing genuine business, but they're always bad people.
                    3. "Online business can break the law and get away with anything" — YES, THEY CAN INDEED RUN AWAY
                    4. "Online business is not regulated" — Tell me which Australian law clause is to regulate business out of Australia
                    • @hsct:

“Online business run by Chinese…” I’m sure most of them are doing genuine business, but they’re always bad people.

Which is why you use reputable stores
If there is a store selling things at prices too good to be true then stay away from them.

Tell me which Australian law clause is to regulate business out of Australia

Obviously there is little our government can to to companies outside of Australia however ALL Australian online businesses are subject to the trade practices act and therefore regulation

                • @hsct:

what if they don’t pickup your calls?

                  Why wouldnt they.
They have a reputation to uphold.

If they dont answer your calls you can email them

but how about the price of a LCD TV ?

You would order a TV from an international location?

Oh well… still no one can answer the question about how to solve disputes with online sellers

You have been given more than one answer.
But most of the stores have a phone number you can call.
All stores have email service and pretty much alays reply within 24 hours
Many stores have a live chat service
What more do you want? For them to fly over and see you in person?

                  • @anthony: Welcome Anthony to join the discussion.

Ok, let's assume the online seller have all these sort of premium services. Who can enforce them to issue refund/exchange if things go wrong?

As much as I'd love to fly over and see them in person, but they still give you shxt.

                    • @hsct:

let’s assume the online seller have all these sort of premium services

They are hardly what i would call premium services

Who can enforce them to issue refund/exchange if things go wrong?

Nobody will argue that there is no Australian body which can help you IF something bad happens however the stores have a reputation to uphold and no reason not to help rectify any issues which may happen due to your transaction with them.

I dont think i can say much more than i have already said in the 4 other posts i have made, you seem to be too cynical to think anything other than a brick+mortar store will offer customer service.

If you want to use brick+mortar stores that is fine however you seem to be making your claims with no experience of using an online store or Chinese wholesale store.
Go buy something from dealextreme, when it arrives tell them it is broken/doesnt work so you can see first hand how helpful their after sales support it.

                      • @anthony: try not to get personal anthony. as a matter of fact i've purchased from many different online stores and experienced many kinds of services. I'm also being very active on eBay, bought and sold hundreds of stuffs.

congratulations on the good service that you've recevied from dealextreme, i have not ordered from them before but i take your words.

I'm not pinpointing COTD nor Chinese race here. An undoubtful fact is Chinese is the so-called "world-factory" and they dominated the online stocks source. I know chinese too well that they treat you as God when you're their customers, however when you attempt to ask money from them that's a total different story.

thanks anthony for answering the questions in your 5th attempt, which customers cannot do anything if the online store have decided they're on the right and refuse to offer refund. Only if they have "their reputation to uphold .. and to rectify issues …" Based on my experience not all the stores care about their reputation. 1 bad feedback out of 50 is less than a piece of cake for them, but 1 bad experience for you as a customer is bad enough.

I'm hoping to close this argument by saying I will try dealextreme (thanks anthony), and I don't mind to buy from COTD provided they issue invoice with ABN on it, such that when things go wrong I can escalate that to Dept of fair trading.

                        • @hsct:

try not to get personal anthony

                          Sorry, nothing personal was meant.
From your comments it just seemed as though you were speaking without any prior experiences.

                          I will try dealextreme

A little heads up. Dont order from them if it is urgent
It can sometimes take 3-4 days before they get your item in, pack and send it. Then it is ~5 days in the post.

I did once find that their site site said something is in stock when it wasnt, it was back ordered with no ETA.
However they were more than happy to refund the money with no questions asked :)

I reckon its a bit meh as well. We've seen so many great bundles for under the RRP lately on this, the batman one comes to mind. Who had the 250 gig slim, uncharted 2 and modern warfare 2 for $590? That was a stunner…

  • hmm the link still works
but their homepage bargain has changed. i can even still add them to cart. does that mean even tho the catch has apparently expired. i can still buy it. im only after the steering wheel

also are there any free shipping coupons?

    • ["Offer expires 12PM AEST Sunday 1st December 2009 or while stocks last"]

      • Thanks have updated the deal

Really want the ps3 but refuse to go with COTD or 1 days hmm what options are there left ?

    • Joyce Mayne is selling the console for $438 but getting to one of their stores could be an issue.
They have 9 stores in NSW and 4 in QLD.

  • -1

LOL…COTD should be banned for life in OzB!!!

  • +1

Any one looking for a deal on PS3 wait and see. With 25,000 free PS3 there are bound to be a lot available.
ebay would be flooded. But I bet a lot would appear in local newspapers, tradingpost etc.

If anyone is interested in picking one up from Melbourne SE, make me an offer. I got mine today. I have not even opened package.

Now offers reasonable to interest me would be accepted. Otherwise, I will give in to temptation and use it myself.

Regarding COTD, I have bought from them previously. I had got a faulty GPS. I sent an email to them for the RMA. They emailed the form to me and the contact detail of the supplier. Supplier picked it up, couldn't repair or replace it. So, guess what gave me a later (read better) model GPS.

However, now following the OZ bargain, I don't find COTD a big bargain anymore. Either their shipping is high or the quantity available is low.

To answer the discussions on online stores, I have seen so many dodgy brick and mortar Aussie businesses doing the runner with public money. so the lesson is there are good guys and bad. It is not good to generalise. If in doubt either leave out or do your research. It applies to both online stores and brick and mortar stores. I had ordered furniture from an Aussie furniture store, I paid in full in Jan and the final item was delivered in september. The deal was worth $13000. So what do you say to that?

    • well said!!

    • well said spal. which country were your furniture imported from?

      • Well if you know of the furniture chain Everyday living. They are an Australian company, grows timber in Australia and New Zealand and have dedicated factories in China. It is good quality stuff, but had issues with there stocks. I was a fool to pay the whole price upfront. They supplied me the dining chairs, no table; the bedsides but no bed. I had checked up stocks before completing the sale. Yes it was a normal in store sale. The store said that it is up to their head office to supply, and the head office said that they can't see my order on the system as the item was discontinued. Well none of the items I bought were labeled as clearance or discontinued stock. Pathetic service mate, no offer to compensate me for anything. The store manager did a favour to me and supplied me a loan bed and a dining table, to add to the favour he did not charge me for the delivery of the loan items!!!

I have learnt a lesson, no stock no full advance.

So you are free to draw your own conclusion.

    • the problem is that even with flooded stock, ebay prices are still fairly stable. as for local newspapers/trading post, some of the prices people want are quite frankly delusional. definitely no deals to be had.

      • Cheng

If you are looking for one, make me a offer at an honest price. If it is tempting enough, I would sell. If not I would think, wow getting PS3 at $x is a great deal, so keep it.

        Thanks.

  • +1

    It's okay. I wouldn't call it a bargain though.

    • Agreed…not in my book of bargain at this price!

      • +1

It has been a long time since I have seen anything at COTD at a bargain price. Either the shipping would mean that it is not a great bargain or the stocks available would mean that you would have missed it at the blink of an eye, the $199 Wii is a good pointer. How many of us know anyone who got it. In order to be transparent and win back confidence of the buyers, COTD may declare the stocks on had, something like a counter like Sony PS3 offer has. Now the way things stand, I don't even bother, as I know that I don't stand a fair chance to get anything which is a great deal, either I won't be able to log in or it would be long gone.

        BTW thanks for the comments.

        • -2

Seems like some people have short memories. A quick glance of COTD deals listing shows more then 15 bargains with over 25votes in the past 6 months. Not a bad track record if you ask me.

  • WOW just read some of the above posts. Why's this turning into a racist slinging match? Shame on you :(

I don't care what nationality a online store is from, as long as they have a good reputation and return policy with good deals, I'd be happy to buy from them.
