110

We've gotten several messages from OzBargainers since our last deal asking whether we are going to have another deal for our ELEDCO ILLU500 MR16 LEDs so we are having an eBay sale on the ILLU500s.

8x Eledco ILLU500s for $104.00 ($13.00 per LED)
28x Eledco ILLU500s for $335.00 ($11.96 per LED)

You're welcome to message through any questions about the LEDs or post in the comments as there's definitely a few OzBargainers who are using them.

  • Out-specs the popular Philips Master 7W MR16 based on LED Benchmarks but is NON-DIMMABLE.
  • Similar in specifications to the Philips Master 5.5W MR16 LED but brighter!
  • Our product link has a bit of a comparison table of specs based on the LED Benchmarks.
  • It's also got C-Tick, SAA, RoHS and CE approvals for safety and peace-of-mind.

Specifications @ LED Benchmark: http://www.ledbenchmark.com/display.php?id=330&name=Eledco+7…

Note: The ILLU500 is compatible with all transformers EXCEPT the VIPER transformers.

  • "Similar in specifications to the Philips Master 5.5W MR16 LED but brighter!"

DickSmith has them for $37.5 for a pack of 4: http://search.dicksmith.com.au/search#w=mr16
You can price match at Bunnings for example, to get an extra 10% off ($33.75 or $8.43 each).

    • We definitely can't match those prices although the ILLU500s should still offer awesome value to people who want a brighter LED (529 vs 410 lumen)

Although those Philips Master 5.5Ws are well priced for people who don't mind the lower brightness.

      • I changed all my MR16 Halogens with LED ones (around 20 in the house). I would have been very interested in testing yours, compared to the ones I have (Philips).

For people who have not made the switch yet (Im no mathematician, so correct me if I am wrong): Halogen ones consume 50W per hour. Lets say you run the bulb 3 hours every day, at the end of the year, the bulb has consumed 50W x 3h x 365 days = 54,750W or 54.75kW.
A LED bulb, like the one in this deal consumes 7W per hour so at the end of the year, it has consumed: 7W x 3h x 365 days = 7,665W or 7.665kW.

A kW in the ACT costs $0.166, so the halogen bulb costs $9.09 per year and the LED costs $1.27 per year. If you have the bulb on for 4 hours every day, it will pay for itself at the end of the year. And these bulbs have a lifetime of 30,000 hours (which is roughly 3.4 years on 24/7).

    • One thing I will say is that unlike the Philips globes these ones are sealed ie there are no vents that allow cold/warn air bugs dust etc etc in through the led.

  • +1

Can this be used in bathrooms? The Philips ones cannot.

    • Hi Delfredo

When you say the philips ones cannot are you talking about the philips 7w and 5.5w Mr16?

Though our Mr16 is definitely not IP65 rated, non of our clients have had problems using them in the bathrooms.

      • I'm referring to the Philips 5.5w. On the back of the packaging it is clearly stated that these LED bulbs are not to be used in damp/wet areas such as bathrooms. I wonder if it is because these Philips 5.5w bulbs have gaps/holes on the face of the bulb which then meant that water vapour/steam from the bathroom can enter the ceiling and therefore come into contact with the electrical wiring?

        • The illu500 is definitely fine for bathrooms.

  • Can we get this is COOL WHITE ?????
    Please Reply.

    • We have limited stock of these in Daylight White (6000K) which we can send out. Just make a note of it when ordering :)

  • I have installed over 70 of these leds and very happy atm.

  • Will these LEDs work with Actec "iMac" transformers?
Also, what is the light output like compared to a 50W halogen. Dimmer I guess, but very much so?

    Thanks rep.

    • Hi Coxymla

I'm not aware of the imac model from Actect, but it should be very similar to the Actec Mini60 series which we have tested against.

There should be no problems with compatibility, however if there is we'd be happy to provide a full refund.

    • Regarding the lighting output

"Theorectically" it is around 20-25% dimmer than a brand new halogen downlight (approx 700 lm).

Personally in real life scenarios I find them very similar in brightness and the reason is that the lighting output of halogen lights decrease very rapidly with use (around 1000 hours to 70% http://www.tomsguide.com/us/light-bulb-guide,review-1986.htm…). This means that when consumers swap out 1 year or more old halogens their light output has already decreased significantly. This is all from my personal experience but on paper there is a approximate 200 lm difference.

  • I've installed 24 of these LED globes that I bought from Apartment Lifestyle and they are fantastic. They are one of the top rated LED MR16 globes on the LED testing site. They fitted into my Beacon Lighting gimble fittings and work with my existing Lucci transformers no problem. Much brighter and warmer than the Phillips Master LEDs. I bought the warm white LEDs which are a slightly whiter (less yellow) light than my halogens which I much prefer. I'm most impressed with my electricity savings when I download my smart meter data. Happy to answer any questions.

    • Glad to hear you're enjoying them. And I'm sure the Eledco guys will be happy too!
