Cashback Reward Sites (Cashrewards, ShopBack, etc). Possible to Stack?

A deal was posted today with a cash back site jollywallet.com. This site says you get 5% cash back through expedia.com.au. Cashrewards.com.au also offer cashback from expedia.com.au for 5.5%. So if I install the jolleywallet.com plugin and use cashrewards when booking a hotel using expedia.com.au, does that mean a 10.5% total cashback?

This seems like it might work since jollywallet uses a browser plugin. This might not affect the cashrewards cookie?

  • Would seem unlikely. Only one way to find out though

No. Cashback works by by tracking the last website you came from to make your purchase.
Their systems would only allow you to come from one place at a time.

    • I know, but jollywallet is a browser plugin, and only requires the plugin be installed? So the site you came from will still be cashrewards, and jollywallet plugin would pickup its one of their sites through the plugin. You don't have to go to jollywallet first!

I don't have the Jollywallet plugin, but I have pricepal, which I'm assuming does the same thing (also a plugin). When you activate it, it refreshes the page and replaces the cookie with one of it's own, making it so that you've 'arrived' at that page from pricepal.

  • Merged from Can You Use Two Cashback Programs at The Same Time?

I'm just wondering if it's possible to use two cashback programs at the same time. The two I'm looking at are CashRewards and Pricepal.

The hypothetical scenario in question is:

    1. Open CashRewards and navigate to Dan Murphys
    2. Open Dan Murphys
    3. The PricePal toolbar mentions there are savings to be made 'Unlock Now!' and so I click it
    4. Buy items

Would it register as both cashbacks? If someone knew the underlying systems on how it works (such as how the cookies makes the transaction registered), they might be able to know if it's possible. If no one knows, I'll just give it a shot anyways.

No, only 1. It's whatever site that you follow last and could even be a non-cashback site with an affiliate link.

      • What neil said.

Cashback sites, which are paid by the merchants through the affiliate networks, are paid on "last click" model. Merchants also run through their transactions for "decoupling" vigorously to ensure the same transactions don't get commissioned more than once.

So in Doggiie's scenario above, Cashrewards might register a click but it would never record a transaction. Whereas PricePal would record both a click & a transaction.

      No.

        • -1

So you're implying that you can use 2 cashback programs simultaneously?

          Please explain.

    • -1

Why stop at 2? I use 3 on a regular basis and over dozens of transactions I have a 75% strike rate.

      • +1

I use 7.8 ( that's right, I am able to stop the 0.2 from being registered) all at once.

        • If it aint broke don't fix it! (Excellent use of brackets)

  • Merged from Multiple Cashbacks on The Same Purchase?

    Hi,

I have noticed that sometimes both Shopback and Cashrewards will offer cashbacks for the same websites.
I know that this usually works through cookies and you don't have to actually go directly through the website, so long as you have clicked the website link within a certain amount of time since the purchase. Or you could even just activate the in-browser app.

So my question, what happens if you have clicked the link on both website?
Will they both end up giving a cashback reward or will one of them come up as an error when it gets processed.
If it is the latter, is there a way to know which one will have the error?

    Thanks

To the Last click go the spoils

You cannot claim multiple cashbacks on a single transaction. Trying to do so actually gets your account flagged, probably banned — read the terms and conditions.

  • Merged from Anyone Managed to Get Shopback and Cashrewards Cashback in One Shopping

Just wondering if anyone is successful in activating cashback from Cashrewards and shopback in a single buy? Technically they both add a cookie. I tried from plugin but they track the source.

You wouldn't get it. They specify 'last click'. Plus given they both would use the same affiliate tracking program (which is chosen by the vendor) - there'd be some sort of resolution of which one gained the referral, and you'd only get paid via one channel.

      You are a naughty boy

      • And when one tracks and not the other he'll be crying woof in the forums and deals.

        • No, I won't. before I activate I compare bw 2. So I always get the best one no matter what.

      • -1

lol..Isnt this what ozbargain all about :-)

    • they detect each other and you end up with Nothing.

    • +1

The vendor system awards the referral to one referral source only. One.

Watch out for the lightning bolts

    • The only way I see this working is if there was a big glitch that caused a LOT of people to not be tracked correctly. I can only think of one such time that such a glitch "might" have happened (it was one of those sim deals where you got paid for it, a lot didn't track correctly so they sent out a mass email and just approved everyone).

But no, as long as it's working correctly you'll only be credited for one. And if it's not working correctly, you'll be credited for neither.
