  • Is this different to the one sued by DISH ?

    http://www.bizjournals.com/losangeles/news/2015/03/19/dish-c…

    • Yes. OP selling WELTV. they're suing TVPAD.

  • Hi Rep,

Does it have Filipino channels like TFC or similar? thanks.

    • Nothing has TFC.. not live anyway.

  • +1

So do you pay once and then streaming is free?

    • Pretty much until the company gets shut down.
If too many users are using the box at the same around Australia then you will have issues steaming. (E.g football last year)

  • Our office opens tomorrow Saturday 04/10/14 from 10AM -2PM. You can order online and pick up on Saturday.

    Huh?

Weltv Premium Asian Streaming TV BOX

Do you have a version for Non-Asians ? With European channels ?

    • +1

+1. I would gladly pay for some Eastern European channels but I can't even get them via satelite due to being in the wrong hemisphere :(

      • I am sorry to say that we do not have any non-asian box at the moment.

        Sorry about this

        Joseph

  • Does weltv do Korean channels? Better quality than tvpad?

    • I would like to know this as well. Can I watch Korean TV like MBCD or SBS HD?

      • +1

Been there, done that. TVPAD wins hands down.

My WELTV box now sitting in one corner (Perfectly functioning) and gathering dust.

  • +1

I have one of these but do your homework first. It's not unusual that channels are down for days at a time. This doesn't happen to all channels, but you'll usually find that CNN, BBC, CNBC and occasionally other channels are offline. I am quite happy with my purchase but just be prepared for some channels to go offline for a while. We mostly watch HBO, Fox Movies, European Movie channel along with Taiwanese news and English news channels.

    • Agreed. and I moved on to TVPAD4. Had enough of those downtime.

      • +1

        Is the TvPad4 significantly better?

(I just bought a WelTV *gasp)

        • For what it's worth, I loved my WELTV box for a while until the downtime gets to me. You never know until you found something better. Now I love TVPAD…until i find another better one of course.

You bought one, might's well enjoy it. Take my word with a grain of salt. I'm obviously biased towards TVPAD as I"m sick of the downtime from WELTV - but then they may have improved improved.

      • Yup, completely understand. Is the TVPAD4 much better? We don't use the WelTV much, it's just better than free-to-air TV and I don't mind if channels go down as there's usually something to watch. However, it definitely is a pain in the arse and I can understand why you made the move to TVPAD.

        • +3

TVPAD4, faster app loading and much better.

From what I see, much of the VOD content for WELTV comes from Youku's content. If Youku don't work, it'll not work properly either; if Youku do not have those content, you won't find it either. That said, most of TVPAD content are HD (I have the GCN edition). Just finished The 7th Son while my daughter watched Tinkerbell :)

For live channels, WELTV is slightly on the plus side for Western live channels (CNN, HBO, FOX, CNBC etc) as it runs at a higher resolution - though my fav National Geographic and Discovery Channel rarely works.

TVPAD4 runs Discovery Channel and NGC in a rather low resolution - not very pleasant either. Didn't investigate on other live channels tho as I'm more interested with VOD content and HK & Chinese live channels now.

I intentionally state TVPAD4, as TVPAD3 has diff apps and apparently have slightly diff and more content. Mostly was including Japanese content which TVPAD4 GCN doesn't cover.

Another observation so far, TVPAD4 hardly goes down at all

I often consider Taiwanese news an entertainment program…

      yes I am a Taiwanese :O

      • +1

Yes, it is entertainment or reality tv.

        • especially when they debate in their parliament.

Their definition of debate = fight
Parliament = depends of the day of the month, sometimes it's a parliament sometimes it's a boxing ring..sometimes it's MMA ring….

          LOL

  • Thank you, just bought 1. Any chance of it being posted out by 4pm today as stated on your post? Thanks

    • +1

      Hi James,

From what I can see, all orders placed yesterday were shipped via EXPRESS yesterday.

  • Does anyone know if this can stream in HD or what the quality is the like?

I'm on NBN at home so internet speeds shouldn't be an issue

    • Hi Matt,

Most channels are streaming in HD.

      • Thanks,
So I can better understand, is this the best model available for streaming asian tv, or is there another one?
What are the differences between models?

  • I m travelling to CN soon. Wondering if it would be cheaper to buy TVPAD or WelTV when I am over there and no issue receiving the feed back in OZ.thanks.

  • So OP, which TVPAD will have Cantonese (TVB) shows? GCN model or CN model?

      Cheers

      • Thanks OP =)
