Sony may be dumping an old model and IT Estate picked up a ship load of them.

The Ultra Z was sold off pretty cheap once superseded. Won't be long until the Z2 is 2 models old, given the 6 months flagship model cycle. Announcement of Z4/Z3 Neo is supposed to be next week.

      • +1

As a betting man, i'd love to have a bet with you.

That the Z4 is being postponed until Sept + a slight chance that it will be discontinued all together. (That's the Wall Street Journal + Forbes opinion) http://www.forbes.com/sites/ewanspence/2015/02/18/sonys-smar…

This because Sony's phone division loses Billions. And although I think the Z3 is the best phone of all time, for some reason, they just can't give them away in the US. T-mobile has stops selling Z3

There is also a decent chance the Z4 will have less features than the Z3 (no magnetic dock, etc) to reduce costs.

        • +1

I have to agree that Xperia Z3 is the best smartphone at the moment when you look at the overall picture and user experience.

Why would Sony think of getting rid of their phone division boggles my mind.

  • If not Zenfone 2 I may buy this.

  • Bugger…
Just bought one from MSY for $399 + post 4 hours ago =(

    • +1

      Quick, cancel.

  • is this site reliable? I just broke my Moto G and need a new phone…

    • +3

Have bought PC parts from them before and they are very good.

    • They are OK with pc parts.

    • +1

      broke my Moto G

Screens are cheap to replace on those.

      • Yeah, I would buy a new screen and try to replace it, the touch was still working fine. But I let my phone discharge completely, and now I can't charge it anymore. I tried every method that I found on internet, and none of them worked. So I gave up. I even tried to disassemble and unplug the battery cable, but didn't work…

        • The phone should automatically shut off before being completely discharged. If your phone is less than two years old you should consider claiming warranty

      • Really? Was told that I might as well get a new phone, not replace the Moto Gs screen

        • cheap if you DIY with parts from eBay.

    • They are legit. Work uses them for PC parts. I can't stand dealing with them though.

have to register to buy.. meh, thats a deal breaker for me. to bad though, its a great price

    • you have to give them your name and address to order why are you worried about registering?

…can't find the Tin Foil Hat

  • If I have not the note 4 which I love, I would opt for this.

  • Amazing price for what is basically a current model - brilliant camera, waterproof, nicely skinned with snappy performance.

z3 is very similar and some prefer the z2 design/LED.

  • does any1 know what the estimated postage time from this site is?

      • Choose "Estimate Shipping Cost" Tab.
      • Input your post code, 3 digits only (i.e. 500)
      • Press "Calculate" and wait for a few seconds.
      • "Expected Arrival Time" will be shown right after that.
      • thanks i feel silly now : )

        • +1

          You're welcome!

Funny thing is if I choose Auspost, the shipping cost would be $12 and E.A.T 4-7 days. But if I choose "Fastway Couriers", cost would be $89 and E.A.T 6-12 days. Why pay more for late delivery?

Also the Z2 is very delicate and needs much care. My housemate accidentally dropped the phone on the floor mat, the screen cracked a little bit. The phone was then no longer waterproof. Then he took some pictures under swimming pool, and tah-dah, R.I.P the poor device!

I'm happy with my LG G3 now!

        • @721411:
Please tell us of a $330 lg g3 deal.

Out of the last generation phones, I get that the z2 is among the uninspiring… But DAT price tho

        • +2

          @721411:

Do NOT use Fastway… In the recent ebay sale I purchased a bread machine from Betta. I was sitting in the loungeroom on the computer about 7:45am. Live on a main road to a beach. Front door 10m or less from the footpath. They didn't knock, left it in full view, I only realised by chance because I saw a shadow move across the front window. Opened the door to find it sitting there, and them driving away. They could have left it to either side of the door, where there is at least some vine growing through a wooden cross-grid thing to give it some cover. But no. They had to leave it right where dozens of people walk by every day in full view.

        • @inose: Sorry I can't help you with your decision. I didn't buy the Sony Z2 from this deal. My LG G3 is from Vodafone 24-month plan so I have no comments about the cheaper one!

IMO, G3 is the best overall flag phone last year. It has awesome screen which, however, is a bit laggy and consumes much battery. The phone does get hot after long use but if you root and apply customized ROMs and Mods, it'll be the best phone you've ever used!!! I love the design of the phone and how well they place its buttons at the back of the phone. Apps are user-friendly and easy to access but junk apps are included as well (get rid of them!).

I think you don't need to get latest phones with sky-high prices to use as daily drive. 2014 or 2013 phones are good enough to use.

          Cheers!

It seems to be gray stock…they mention under the warranty section "12 months Return to Base"

And Return to Base: You can get warranty where you bought, so don’t lose your Invoice. Don’t worry if you buy from IT Estate, you can type in the Series Number of the Product on our Website, and then you will be easy to find out your order detail. But you have to Reg. on our website before you buy anything.

    • Generic Warranty Descriptions.

ACL will surely apply as it's GST inclusive, and sent from Australia.

Best case is it's Sony AU clearance stock.

    • +1

It doesn't matter if it is grey or not. This is a business registered in Australia with an ABN, the purchase from it has the statutory warranty attached to it under Australian consumer law that can not be excluded. If the manufacturer won't warrant the product for any reason it's the seller's legal responsibility to provide warranty against defects within a reasonable period.

      • +1

Ha good luck to you trying that shit with Kogan

        • Most Kogan stuff is sold by a HK based company so ACL doesn't apply AFAIK

        • @Steptoe: yet you're buying off an Australian company registered for gst with an abn number and checking out on their .com.au website

  • +2

If you are prone to breaking screens / not treating your phone like a baby i'd recommend steering clear of the Z series.
I am extremely careful with my phones and have been through 3 of the Z1
First time it cracked on its own, the annoying thing is that if there is any damage at all to the screen it becomes unusable

Good deal for the price tho

    • In incidents like these, I imagine the purchase protection insurance on your credit card might come in handy to cover repair/replacement costs…

    • Funny i have the original Z, it is now over 2 years old and i love it so much, Have dropped it twice in its light time, apart from a little scratch and dent, nothing.
      Love this phone.

      • Seems to be luck of the draw
I had a Z Ultra with no issues (got stolen)
Few weeks ago my colleagues Z he has had for 2 years literally cracked itself (hairline crack at top of screen, no force)

When I was researching these phones I convinced myself it will never happen to me, but unfortunately there definitely seems to be a trend with self cracking phones!

        • I wonder if these people use protection? (on the phone that is. lol)

The Z3 comes with a plastic protectors (front+back)

Although i use after-market tempered glass protectors for all phones and never had any problems.

        • Is this like the new "Sony Timer"?

  • +1

Had I not bought the G3 and Note 4 in the recent 20% off, I would jump on this deal.

I am tempted to buy one for Mom, the horror stories of spontaneously cracking screens make it a little hard to swallow. Especially if it's gray stock, good luck getting Sony to even touch it.

Fonebiz charged my friend $272 to replace the screen on his Z2 that he bought from Telstra.

  • I'm still wondering if i should buy this one or wait for a Moto G promotion …

    • +1

if you want a better camera and battery-go for this one.

      • The Moto G would be great for me and it has 2 sim slots, but I don't wanna wait for the promotion. Just bought it ;/

My fear is cracking the screen again ;/

  • +1

Wow, I just decided to get on eBay and buy one of these, thought I'd check ozbargain first for a phone deal and BOOM ~ there it is in the front page.

  • +7

Was going to pull the trigger but, the reports of cracking screens are hard to live with. Also not being high volume phones in aus the screen repairs are really dear. Hmm its a worry. This IT mob would be of little assistance if the screen cracked I suspect.

    • Fixed an Xperia Z today and they are expensive to fix because they are a pain to repair . THeres one screw to replace the screen and a whole lot of glue holding them together . Do not drop your Xperia …

    • I am a tradesman and have had this phone since August. Tempered glass screen + silicon case with 100's of drops and all I've ever damaged is the tempered glass protector. Maybe I just got a good one?

PS Lollipop just got released for this phone too

      • +1

Alex, Any particular screen ? can you share a link ?

        • just the cheapy ebay ones! I tried the fancy nuglass (sp?) and they were no different

  • Is it just this review or the screen is really unusable in full sun?

    • +1

      I have a white z2.
You need to crank that brightness up.
Strangely, if you tick "Adapt to Lighting conditions" - i.e. auto brightness, it makes the screen brighter than if you had that unticked and adjusted the brightness slider to its maximum. You can use it in full sun - but the brightness has to be at its max.

  • +1

Got to almost end of checkout minimum delivery charge to gold coast is $26 ( no aus post option) plus unavoidable $7.56 credit card fee despite no PayPal…? Unless I am missing something, to me thats a deal breaker

  • +3

IT ESTATE are crooks, do not buy from them. They don't send items despite saying they're sent. They do not answer their calls and they do not refund money when an order is cancelled due to non delivery.

  • Damn fine phone.

  • +5

    Back to $505?

    • What dogs, I saw the price of $339 just like everybody else!

  • 505 now. Calm down boys

  • For those who missed, get one from MSY for $399 + post (if needed)

    • … and they have it in White.

    • $399 is still a very good price

  • $505…looks like it was Australian stock…can someone confirm when you receive it

  • Still $339 for me if I try to checkout…

  • it's still 339 . wish i didn't buy z3 from recent 20% off :( damm.. for 190$ different i would definitely go for z2 and ignore the design of z3 :(

  • +1

Still $339 for me as well. Also said "Sold Quantity: 120pcs". Hopefully not a price error.

Edit: The pricing does not make any sense on IT Estate's website. The very first Android phone, HTC Dream from 2008, is sold for $330 on the site.

  • Yes. Price is back to $339. Hurry up guys

  • +1

So tempting !!! just remind myself that I don't need another phone … OnePlus One is good enough …

  • I've had my Z2 for almost a year now, no problems whatsoever. The day after I received my phone, I purchased a shockproof case for about $5 from eBay. Luckily, because a few weeks later, I dropped my phone (with the case on) on to my tile floors. My phone was face down and as I turned it over to see if my life was over, to my surprise, NOTHING!!! The phone was absolutely spotless. I love this phone, great design, great camera, great sound, great screen resolution and overall just a great phone. Absolutely recommend it.

  • Whats the main diff between this and the Z3? Cant seem to see much from the specs.

Looks like Sony phones have great features and hardware, unfortunately lacks in the physical appearance, not quite a sexy phone!

    • Not sexy…what phone do you think is sexy then? To my eyes, this is one of the best looking phones out there. I am seriously tempted, apart from the screen cracking issues…..

      • S6 edge.

Some people would find the Xperia line's blandness / minimalism as sexy.

To me it's just a sharply cornered and much bigger Nexus 4, which I use now. Not sexy to me. But I am considering this. The price…

      • -3

HTC phones eg. M7,8,9 are sexy in design, back and front. Sony phones look like a portable hard drive.

        • -2

Hahaha some Sony fans are butt hurt. There there.

        • @JLove:
Hey they good thing is that no one will try to mug a person holding a portable hard drive ;)

    • +1

Updated processor, bit negligible real life differences. Also updated camera, but negligible differences. Also new front design where the speakers are… Negligible.

  • Ugh, I really need a new phone now that my S2 is having a cry, and missed the 20% off ebay sale… but it's hard to drop $339 on a (seemingly) grey import from an online store :/

    • +2

hard to drop $339 on a (seemingly) grey import from an online store

$509 at Kogan from HK, so $339 is fair even it Grey Import. IT Estate bears responsibilities under ACL, whereas Kogan don't being effectively off shore.

  • Too bad it isnt dualsim, would have probably jumped on this deal since it's back down to $340

  • 142 sold. Thanks OP

  • It's times like this I wish my N4 wasn't still going so strong after almost 3 years.. :(
    amazing deal.

  • +1

Its all pretty sus. When i first went through checkout, it insisted on $27 shipping. I then went back and tried pickup, and it said insufficient stock for pickup Finally went back and checked out with shipping, this time there was no shipping cost. So I wonder if I'll ever see it…

  • +1

How can anyone take ITEstate seriously when they can't even spell 'special'.

The registratation process is also cumbersome. I tried to register and got a message that an error has occurred. When I refreshed the screen, it said the username is already taken (wasn't the case before I registered it).

  • +1

Damn , seems it's only available in crowded state. Try to put the NT post code, nothing came out for estimate shipping cost :( , so dissapointing yet tempting.
Anyway guys , you reckon there will be a deal like this with LG G2 Or HTC One M7 til next month? perhaps some stock clearance

Xperia Z is so popular with screen fragile-ness, so scary

    • Try to put the NT post code, nothing came out for estimate shipping cost

Shipping is free, so why bother checking shipping cost?

      • Zoick , I'm so trippy now, Didn't read the title properly.Didn't sleep at all , something messing with my brain + I'm so confuse to decide to wait for LG G2 or HTC one M7 stock clearance sale or just buy this Xperia Z2 with this lowest price. :(

Yes you're right , the registration process is so confusing , the web is a lazy - cheapo work from some people who still learn php, I guess.
BTW , I tried to use Darwin post code and the suburb doesn't appear at all, very poor maintaned

        • +1

          Hello there NT fellow,

Just put 3-digit post code for Darwin (800), there'll be magic. Shipping cost for the phone is 0 anyway.

        • @721411:
          wow , cheers bud.
just realize that the web ignored 0 in the front

  • duplicated

  • +1

Thanks a lot OP, Decent phone at a good price, They confirmed it is Australian Stock.

Just spoke to IT estate the phone is expected to be delivered to them today, They plan to ship these out today or Tomorrow.

I had an issue that my payment while it went through the bank didn't get updated on the system as my order remained unpaid.

I called the lady and asked her to check, She looked up the bank and made sure the payment was in after which she updated the order status to say payment received. If you pay by credit card log in again and check to make sure the payment has been reflected in the order status.

Bought on credit card just in case I need special warranty.
