      You must be new here.

A country wide half price deal for Connoisseur will get 100 likes, cookie being the favourite

It's the equivalent of saying "I thought Ozbargain's favourite is Duracell"

    Boo. $9.29 here in QLD

    • Do people buy it at this exorbitant price??

      • Every now and then sure.

Goddammit I hope this is in SA…

      • Have done before. Other gourmet brands are same price if not more for half a litre. Went for a 2l tub of vanilla with pineapple lime splice :) yum

        • Sara Lee is on special in my area (QLD

        • @watson4884:

Yeah I saw that on the leaflet once I'd checked out! :)

Thanks heaps for posting this, my local had enough of my favourite flavour to fill up the freezer :-)

Could not distinguish from Aldi's gourmet Monarc, where these are sensibly in stock, & always $4.5
Summer strawberry puree is gone :( and woolworths otherwise replaces the honey macadamia✓ .

    • +1

Seriously? Because I find the Woolworths Honey Macadamia nuts to be almost flavourless. And that's aside from it tasting more watery and being harder in texture than Connoisseur branded ice cream (though to be clear it's not terrible and I do buy it sometimes). I find the same wateriness and texture issues in Coles branded ice cream.

Athough of course the thing we both must concede is that we are as likely as anyone else to be tasting what we want to taste given that we know what we are eating. When it comes to food we are terrible at tasting what things actually taste like and preconceived concepts are a large determinant of what we taste rather than the food itself.

Here a rehash from my previous connoisseur post:)

Ice cream quality. Connoisuer is deemed high quality because it uses a good amount of cream (thats why it taste so damn good!). The cheaper supermarket brands tend to have water or milk as one of its first few ingredients (to cut costs). I find the cheaper ones tend to take longer to defrost, due to the higher water content.

    • Your comment made me try the woolworths honey macadamia. ITS SO DISGUSTING I SWEAR MY PERCEPTION OF TASTE WILL NEVER RECOVER.

I have never, NEVER thrown out icecream of any flavour until I bought this crap. I tried my best - I ate about 10% of it and honestly thought I was about to gag. The abomination went straight in the bin after that!

You should refund me my $4.70.

IGA are independent stores and might not be having the promo run in your local IGA. Promo are discretionary on independent owners.

Butterscotch and gingerbread is hands down my favourite icecream of all time. OF ALL TIME

    • +1

Butterscotch and gingerbread brings back memories of visiting my local bakery when I was kid. My favourite is still Cookies followed by butterscotch or cafe grande. I am going to go buy the butterscotch one again just to uh… confirm :)

    • Try carrot cake icecream from gelare. It's similarish but several times better. Very hard to find, not all stores stock it and sometimes they have it but rotate it off display. Call around until you find someone with it.

Connoisseur King Louis XI has no equal in my mind. Amazing.

    • Lel yez, best beyond doubt … only pray I wont become a tub who may recite all-thee-range- by heart. Guess it back to the peasantry drum, ala 1L in Wow 'selective' tubs = merely_1/3 Cream, perfectly apt for the funds. These and Monarc, lest the costly to make puree presents in stock, nomnom.

Learned my fundamentals with the Conn. While Salt didn't add much; Coffee hazelnut were palatable; and yet curious test now just butterscotch. After just so many substitutes mostly nationally on offer.

Thanks! Got a Belgian Chocolate and a Chocolate Honey Nougat!
Just finished a Caramel Honey Macadamia and right now finishing off a Murray River Salter Caramel to make room in the freezer :D

    • Goddamit I love Belgian Chocolate flavour :D
