[ENDED] JB Hi-Fi PayPal 10% Cashback till Dec 15th, on Orders $50+ ($200 Cashback Max)

540

"JB Hi-Fi is offering customers who pay using their PayPal account 10% cash back on orders over $50 (excluding freight)*.

This great offer must end at midnight Sunday 15th Dec 2009.

Offer ends midnight Sunday 15th Dec 2009*
Your order item's total must be a minimum of $50, not including any freight charges.
Only one cash back per PayPal account is eligible"

Money will be deposited within 2wks of end of promo.

Given that this promo is set to last 4wks, there probably will be some sales on e.g. itunes cards and TVs.

If you know of a good value purchase from JB, share it with us in the forum below. I've checked the sony bravias, e.g. 46W5500 is $2296, so still more expensive than when the HN sale was on (1844). Other items already on sale however, seem pretty good value.

This promo is on paypal's page too, http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/xmas/?source=PayPalLogIn&siz…

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but it sounds like you can haggle with the sales people to get an awesome price, then effectively take another 10% off by buying gift cards… i cant find the expiry for gift cards, does anyone know?

  • Do you mean we can buy gift cards and get 10% cash back?

    • yeah i'm pretty sure you can. nowhere on the offer or gift card page did i find a clause saying you cant get cashback on giftcard purchases

  • +1

Not a bad idea, buy gift cards at 10% off then go in-store and buy what you want….nice idea…most effective for items which don't usually get discounted/haggled, like game consoles.

    • +1

      or like Apple products :)

    • +1

myer did this last year duringchristmas

buy $500 of gift cards, get $50 gift card free (effectively 10%)
then u haggle say 10% off apple products and use the free $50 gift cards
and get 2 myer one points per dollar spent and get $20 for each 2000 points
it was the myer stimulus package.

but this jb deal is better. because you dont have to buy something within the $500 blocks
its just a straight percentage. so same saving for all purchases $50 up. GREAT DEAL!!!

  • Can anyone post a link to gift cards page (buy online)
    Can't seem to find it

  • Damm, just got 32' Soniq LCD last week.

  • +1

Best way to get a deal is to get Gift Cards with the 10% and go into the physical store. Not everything in-store is available online (Apple macs for example)…

That's pretty much the only way you'll get Apple products at 10% off! If you know someone leaving the country, claim your GST on the full amount and you get another 10% off!

    How?

Buy gift card for cost of Mac (say $1299 for white Macbook).
Purchase instore for $1299. Get cashback seperately. $129.90.
    If you're leaving the country, claim 10% GST on $1299 = $118.09.

    Total cost of $1051.01!!

PS: Does anyone know if paypal takes commission from the cashback money deposited into your paypal account?

    • +1

u can haggle and get another 10% easily

      • so 1299, bargain it down to or pricematch to i think 1150, then your giftcard of 1150 which u got. (you get 115 off through this promotion). then another 10% gst off 115. so even cheaper

        • +1

yes i was just going to say that. people should know that you can get 10% off apple products anywehre (especially myer) theres always at least one competitior doing 10% off so any retailer with the flooded computer market will match it.
dick smith sometimes does 15% off on current models. but thats once every millenia

          so 10% off haggled
10% off if ur a staff member
10% off from buying gift cards
another 10% off if ur going overseas in a month.

i actually did this once when i worked at myer, and my mum had saved a ton of myer one $20 gift cards too. i bought a $1799 macbook for $1000 in the end or something

  • Deviant, have you had 10% off Macbooks in the past?

    • yep

easiest way is to say dse offered 10% off, can you pricematch for you to have my business

  • +1

btw giftcard expiry dates are 12mo

  • so anybody emailed JB yet to confirm if gift-cards are indeed eligible ??

Having paid so much via Paypal recently, I sure do hope I get cashbacks on all the deals they had advertised.
Most of these deals say "cashback deposited 2 weeks after deal is over".

  • +2

just wanted to point out that the prices between jbhifi and jbhifionline often differ

also they are treated as separate entities so even if it is cheaper on the website you wont be able to price match it in store.

    • Many ppl on wp have matched Jb's online prices at retail. It is doable

  • Deviant: Won't JB ring DSE to find out if they are doing 10% off? Both stores used to offer 10% off Macs in the past but it seems like these sales aren't happening anymore!

    • It's verbal discount. I got offered 10% from dse last week, Knox city had 10% off macs the week before. The point is they want your business.

    • no all you need to say you were personally offered 10% off, not as a store wide sale. he can't call to confirm that.

I've done it many times. it works.

  • Does this work for orders placed on items that are out of stock?

  • How about PSN cards? 10% off of those is a bargain as they don't drop the prices of those yet(only just came out here)

    • Do they sell PSN cards? GAME is the only shop I can think of that sells them.

  • Buy gift card then combined pricematch with other deal even sweeter…under $1350 easy!

  • I'm looking at buying the Macbook Pro. Just wondering does JB easily give you the 10%off RRP without much bargaining? Can't resist 20% off macs…

    • yeah i think so. a friend who worked at myer said it wasn't too much problem giving 10% off for macs.

      • That's good news. Hope I can purchase my machine next week before I head overseas. 30%off all up (if JB plays nice)

  • Same here but grrrrr waiting for the new macbook pros it shouldnt be long now.

I just scanned the gift card FAQ … so these are sent out by registered post … and JB HiFi will cover the cost of shipping?

Also, it says we have to nominate who the card is for … Does anyone know if we can get the cards for ourselves, then later use the gift card to buy a card for someone else?

    • Yes you can order it for you

  • +1

free shipping, i bought 2k worth of giftcard 1998 to be precise. yes you can use it for yourself.

    • did you happen to ring jb to confirm the cashback works with gift cards? what did they say?

      • I also bought $1998 worth of gift cards. Read all the terms and conditions and there's no gift card exclusion clause. I printed all pages and terms and conditions in case they won't give me the cashback.

        • Why not $2000?

      • Yes you will get it for gift cards

  • +1, same ^^

  • nice deal. Perfect timing, Im heading overseas next month. Just gotta find something good to buy now lol

    • Just wondering how do claim back 10% GST & where?

      • +2

in the international terminal, immediately after you go through the customs, there should be a little stall saying "tourist refund scheme". In sydney, its on the right hand side of the customs.

        receipts over 300$ only.

the item can be in use, e.g. a camera that was opened already. as long as the purchase date was within 31days of the date of travel.

      • +2

        Kimmik explained it pretty well.

If you want more information here's a link to the Customs website http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/resources/files/travellers…

Hi everyone I just called them to confirm the gift card issue. Yes it is included and gift cards are valid for one year. They may withdraw the offer any time.So be quick

    • thanks for that!

Deals: Futurama all 4 movies for $39.99?

The movies have been selling at (and still are) about $39.95 each. There's a pre-order available for what looks like a pack of all 4 movies, for the price of 1!

  • +5

I received confirmation in writing that gift cards are included in this offer and that they can be used at all JB Hi-fi stores.

The cards ship from Melbourne. For large purchases (eg. gift cards totalling $1998!!), they carry out additional security checks which adds an extra day or so to the delivery time. Thus, it may take up to 1 week for the gift cards to arrive.

Great deal though. Thanks to the original poster!

    • Hi Colcha :)

how did you get written confirmation? As in, who should we write to, to get the written confirmation?

      Kind regards :)

      • +2

You can contact JB Hi-fi Online by sending an email to [email protected]

        • Looks like JB has removed the phone number for their help desk from their web site - guess they were inundated with calls due to the popularity of this promo! In any event, they were pretty quick to respond to my email.

        • thanks for the email, just received confirmation from them!!!

  • It says 1 cashback per paypal account.
Does anyone know if this mean 1 item? ie. maximum 1 $999 gift card can get the cashback?
Or can you order 4 x $500 giftcards to get the full $200 cashback?

    • i would assume its per purchase, and multiple items can be under the one purchase. I just received confirmation from JB, giftcard is part of the paypal deal!

  • Note - Limit to $200 cash back per customer

    • +1

Looks like this deal is proving more popular than expected. The offer page previously stated:

"This great offer must end at midnight Sunday 15th Dec 2009.
Offer ends midnight Sunday 15th Dec 2009*"

      It now states:

"This great offer must end soon...
Offer ends midnight Sunday 15th Dec 2009 or when funds are exhausted*.

If you want to take advantage of this offer, I would get in soon!

    • Is this in one go?

Or can you purchase gift cards multiple times up to a maximum of $200?

For example …. instead of purchasing $2000 in one go …. you might get $200 today …. $500 tomorrow …. $500 next week and so on

      • no. one cashback per paypal acct.

        i wasnt ballsy enough to get 2000$ worth… i got a $200 card. forfeiting 180$ of cashback

  • +1

Placed my order on 17/11. Received my gift cards in the post this morning. Very happy with delivery times. Time to go shopping :-)

    • tell us if you get a 40w sony for 1350-10% off =P

  • im slightly confused now. I went on the jb hifi page and it gives you an option of making your own amount gift card. Cant i just type in $2000 dollars and get the max 200 dollar cashback from doing that. That seems like the simple logical way of doing it.

    • Im not too sure about this (maybe someone who has done it can elaborate further), but from previous posts by deviant and forexile the max per gift card is $999. So to get close to $2000 you would need to buy 2 gift cards in the one transaction.

  • Ordered Wednesday evening, got my cards this morning (VIC).

Off to buy my 27" iMac i7 quad-core tonight using another 10% off in store.

It'll end up costing $2400 for what is $2889 RRP.

    • +1

the gst refund will pay your way to nz!! but you'll have to swim back.

    • i got my gift cards as well. going for the macbook pro tomorrow. let me know what kind of discount they give out in store for macs ;-)

      • Ordered the i7 for $2600. Eagerly await my PayPal cashback now (as well as the iMac of course).

        • Which JB did you get it from? How long did they say it will take to get the i7 in?

          • @jumpyj: Chadstone. I'm looking at first or second week of December. Going to call on Monday for a tracking number.

  • You can buy 4 cards worth 500 as noted above, the max value per card is 999 hence you end up with $1998 if you buy 2 cards or 2000 if you buy 4 at 500.

  • got 40w for 1380

If you are nearby to JB it might be worth paying a visit in person as opposed to buying online. Bought a blu-ray this afternoon listed as $24.98 ON SALE online, instore was $18.99.

WARNING: I think this offer has been canceled. The link no longer works for me.

  • Anybody received their cashback yet?

    • nope still waiting for mine, i purchased a $50 gift card

  • still waiting for mine too. Must be pretty soon.

  • the offer ended on the 30th Nov, so 2wks later would be 14th Dec. expect your money on that day or the day after.

Alternatively, jbhifi may take 15th Dec as the end of offer (less likely), and so the cashback will be on the 29/30/31st of Dec.

I dont think anyone has received it yet.

    • Well it says "within" so doesn't mean it has to be on the last day. Going to email them now and find out for sure.

      • Got a pretty prompt response:

"The payment cash back has begun processing today, please allow 5 business days for the transaction to appear."

        • i haven't yet had a cashback offer that processed before the final deadline. thanks for emailing them, and their answer confirms that they'll be right on the deadline just like all other cashbacks.

  • Still no sign of cash back…..has anyone actually received theirs yet?

    • Nothing yet… Waiting… Waiting…

  • "PayPal Australia Pty Ltd just sent you $20.00 AUD with PayPal"

    got it 3hours ago.

    • Nothing in my Paypal account yet. Did they send you an email?

      • yes it was an email but…. hmmm…

promotion name was "AU BFX number 1 promotion 23Oct - 3Nov 2009 (extra)"

which was the DX spend 50 get 20 offer. But i already got the cashbacks from those purchases!

Its all the more confusing, as i spent $200 on JB, so was expecting a $20 cashback from them.

    • My Sister got the same email message this morning from Paypal for $20.00 AUD, but she was expecting $200 (ie 10% of $2000) not 1%! What's going on?

      • did you check the custom note?

It might be a Shop Overseas Paypal promo, $20 per $50 spend.

  • Today would be the 5th business day since they sent me the above email.. so if you don't get it today, shoot them an email on Monday.

Still no sign of my $200.

  • I haven't got my cashback… nor have I got an email saying that my cashback is processing…

    What the hell is wrong?

  • No email, no cashback for me yet….

    I'm expecting $60

  • im still expecting my $199 cash back for the $1998 i spent and have neither received a email or notice on my paypal account…

  • No email or cashback for this promotion for me.

  • Looks like it will be 2 weeks from 15 Dec

  • Thanks for your e-mail.

We have been advised that all payments willk be issued by 22/12.

  • +2

    Still not received.

    • me neither

  • hey applebyte who did you email? paypal or jb hifi?

    • JB, also got mine today too
