Dashcam (Blackvue DR650GW-2CH Dash Cam)

Hi Guys,

Following a recent hit and run my wife had last week ( https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189044 )
I'm now considering getting her a dashcam fitted,

I'm looking at front & rear combo's and found the Backvue pretty much the one to go for, Price wise looking $480 ~

For the price it's pretty expensive but I've currently got a MiView 388 ($160 ~ I Purchased for) So the way I look at it is your paying for 2 cameras really and that's where the extra price is.

If I had the rear dashcam fitted prior to the accident we wouldn't be in this silly situation..

Thoughts? Is $480 to much?

    who is the insurer for that car? as an $1,800 excess is daylight robbery. As for the camera, if the picture quality is very good and clear then it may be worth it to prove and identify the other party. A you tube check should uncover if it has good or poor quality recording.

      Some insurers let you choose a higher excess to reduce the premium. Eg, rather than pay a $800 premium with a $650 excess, they might offer to reduce the premium to $400 with a $2,500 excess.

    Ended Up going ahead and buying the dashcam (Blackvue)

    Good quality and well worth it! Set it up in my wife's car last night, front and rear work very well!

    I'm happy :)

    I paid all up $1,000 for two devices with 2x Power Magic Pro,

    the dashcams are RRP $499.00 each and the Magic pro (RRP $59.95)

    So all up pretty good deal anyway, with the Magic Pro device it will keep the dashcam powered until voltage drops below 11.8v on the car to prevent it going flat, good for parking the car in a shopping centre and having footage incase some numb nut side swipes you and doesn't leave a note :)

      Pretty decent went with it instead of getting it posted out because I live near there so easier =)

      Mate of mine works there his name is "Matt" But I'm unsure if the deal he did with me was just limited offer or not, you'd have to give them a call to find out if they would do it or not..
