Not sure which one is better but Japanese Air-Con is good

I like my panasonics. been going strong for 2.5 years (not continuously but most of the time)

        • I live in Brisbane.

To clarify , it has a dehumidifier function which I hadn't thought of when considering ac units. Rather than trying to cool 100% humidity air ,which would be grossly inefficient, the dehumidifier removes the moisture and slightly cools the air. So when it is 30degrees and 100% humidity outside, it is 26 and very low humidity inside. 26 doesn't sound cool but without the humidity it is extremely pleasant. Also sucking out the moisture is 300% more cost effective than attempting to cool the air (which is still humid/muggy).

        • @altomic:

Most have a dehumidify function (which is handy). My Panasonic has a 'Mild Dry' function which doesn't dry the air so much when cooling (good if it's not humid).

  • I reckon Daikin is the best but mitsubishi, carrier and Panasonic aren't bad.

I have a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries one, which apparently are different from Mitsubishi Electronics.

I am v impressed by the MHI one I have. Much better than the carrier one I also have.

  • Choice magazine rated the MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES SRK92ZMA-S - as the best for cooling with a 9KW
When sorted by cooling efficiency - the top choices were
    Mitsubishi Heavy - SRK63ZMA-S
    Fujitsu ASTG24KMCA
    LG P24AWN-14
    LG S24AWN-14
    LG W24AWN-14
Mitsubishi Heavy SRK92ZMA-S - My choice due to the area that needs cooling.
Pity the Mitsubishi Heavys don't have cashback.

  • Yes - MHI have a better rep than any others. and for some bizarre reason are a different company to ME.

One feature not mentioned in specs is how low the heating function can go. For running it overnight at a temp suitable for sleeping. I have one that only goes down to 18, but some others go as low as 12. My Panasonic goes to 16.

  • personally no deal for me.since retailers in terms are hardly normal and not the same double whammy TGG Panasonic deal.

    • Uh there's a lot more retailers than Harvey Norman on the list. Even the local company who sold and installed our unit at home, and the other local company that sold and installed the same units in our new office at work, are on the list.
