  • Just searched on my post code and the local Good Guys didn't come up, only HN. Tried another postcode, same happened. Can anyone confirm that TGG definitely an eligible reseller?

  • TGG and HN showed up for me.

  • TGG Ebay store doesn't have the 3.5Kw? and HN is not part of 20% Ebay deal?

I probably go ahead with Fujitsu. Any advise about quality and after service of Pana Vs Fujitsu?

    Thanks,

Can ask Masters to beat by 10%?

    • +3

Fujitsu using Newer flammable R32 vs Traditional 410A used in Panasonic.

    • +2

Pana, fuj and mitsi you cant go wrong. Daikin if you are cashed up and avoid kelvinator and Electrolux.

      • +2

Daikin is way above my budget atm. People need to know not all Daikin are made in Japan anymore.

Any experience with the after sales services for above mentioned brands?

        • Service depends on your location. Never had a pana fail Yet so.thats a good sign. Fingers crossed. Have some old fujitsus from 10 years still going strong but the new fujs are made in China and the service provider swaps out the boards on these if they fail under warranty, cant fault it otherwise. The mitsi heavy industries aircons are really good too. KelvinatorS are cheap but fail and the service is very poor

        • @btdroppedbox: I've had a Pana fail twice within 18 months with the same error in the compressor. Luckily it was within warranty then. Now its out of warranty, so fingers crossed. Got 2 Fuji's which are still going strong..

        • I recently had, 3 x new model fujitsu fail after 1 year, it literally took me about 30 phone calls and all of summer to get fujitsu to honour their warranty. They tried a number of excuses not to honour their warranty plus circular call waiting etc. I would say panasonic / mitsubishi > fujitsu based on my experience.

        • Can't speak about the others, but Daikin service is crap. In particular Jaicrest in Willoughby are a bunch of unreliable cowboys.

    • I don't have first-hand experience with Panasonics but I bought a couple of split systems a few months ago and after doing some research I went with Mitsubishi Electric. I ruled out Panasonic due to a few people reporting high idle power consumption.

    • Would be interesting to see if Masters will beat the Ebay TGG $637 price by 10%

    • I was in the same boat. Had a slight preference for Pana based on installer's recommendation, but needed 2x 3.5kW units (as well as 1x 2.5kW unit). Couldn't find an ebay seller eligible for the CTECH20 code for the larger Pana units, so after talking to the installer, and wanting to maintain the same brand (for aesthetics and remote control uniformity) went with the Fuji units. Keen pricing. Thanks OzB. Now I have to pick them up. How many of these units can you fit in the back of a station wagon? I guess I'll soon find out.

  • Tempted. Pretty well priced

Just called the Panasonic promotional line and was told TGG purchases are eligible for the cash back promotion.

  • What is the best Panasonic Split Air con from the ones listed?

  • +1

Are you sure Panasonic will honour the deal if you purchase through Ebay and now the physical store? I assume they will require a copy of the invoice from the actual store and not the Ebay/PayPal one.

    • +1

The last tgg ebay sale the tgg invoice was given to me with the device I bought Which was a dyson vacuum for warranty purposes

    • +1

100% sure it'll work. When you buy from TGG eBay store, you get an offical TGG invoice with the full amount paid (20% eBay discount NOT listed on invoice).

I nabbed two Fujitsu 2.5kw for $433ea from TGG during the last %20 Ebay sale.. using various tricks

    • oh and $500 install.. best deal ever

  • Peaksmart rebate also for energex users in Southeast QLD. If you are happy to sign up to the peaksmart program

    Less than 4kW = $150
    4kW but less than 10kW = $250
    10kW or more = $500

    https://www.energex.com.au/residential-and-business/positive…

    • Are you signed up? Do you notice it on really hot (eg >30 degree) days? Would be interested but also considering hooking up a solar system in the future so wouldn't want to cripple the units for that purpose…

      • On quite a number of occasions, through the summer just past, we've seen the aircon unit indicate that Peaksmart was active. It didn't make any noticeable difference to the operation of the unit, nor to the temperature of the rooms.

  • Has anyone installed a split aircon on the inner plaster wall boz the wall facing out has a window and there's not enough space to fit one on either side of the window. I hope this makes sense :).

    • You mean mounted to an internal wall? if so, yes

I have it mounted to an internal wall, about 50mm from the external wall (to conceal pipes)

      • Thx knacker. Thats exactly what I meant - internal wall. Cheers.

  • Decided to go with the Fujitsu 2.5kw instead..$32 more after 20% discount & $150 prepaid visa card, Since it has a slightly smalled indoor unit and my other fuji is quieter than the pana.

    • err you might want to check this post by viper1980 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/2652578?redirect=1

      • Got a 7kw fuji & a 2.5kw one. 7kw is 8years old and the 2.5kw is 6years old. Had not had any issues with the fujis. The 3.5kw pana on the other hand had an issue at 3.5years and then at 4.5years with the same fault. At the end of the day, I have more confidence in the fuji's based on my experience.

  • When ordering from the Ebay store, can you specify pickup rather than post?

    • Yes, just pick a store you would like to pickup from.

  • How much would 1/2 a star energy rating save you? Fujitsu is 5 star for their 2.5kW (as compared to the Panasonic 4.5 star). Or is it just a gimmick?

    • you wouldn't notice.

    • +1

you can check here, it shows everything along with calculator - http://reg.energyrating.gov.au/comparator/product_types/64/s…

      • of course depending on your use - but their default hours calculate a saving of about $7 a year with running costs with the Fujitsu which would increase as electricity costs increase. so if it lasts more than 5 years then i'm cashin' in! lol.

  • How did OP get free postage? Or was this a click and collect arrangement.

    • Just click and collect

A few reasons why I decided on Panasonic over all the other brands… Prior to shutting down, Panasonic's will run for a few minutes to dry out the internal parts to prevent mold from building up. Mold can be extremely harmful to ones health, that and I heard Panasonic circuits are sealed while some others don't bother. Apparently geckos, ants and other little critters like the warmth during winter and eat/live near the circuit = fried = replacement cost $$$. nanoe-G air purifier is also a bonus for those who suffer asthma, prone to allergies, etc. My allergies have completely gone (I turn on the air purifier alone for a couple of hours a day — barely any energy consumption.) A good air purifier alone cost $300. I have the 3.5kw/4.9kw split and it is DEAD quit, cannot hear the outside unit at all! One note of warning.. I live within 10km of the sea and my 7yr old Panasonic outside box unit UNDER my alfresco shows some signs of rust.. Apparently with all metals you need to give it a good hose spray once a year to prevent salt building up and eating the metals. The unit I have mounted outside in the rain have no rust at all… I'm guessing the rain washes the salt off the external units.

  • I purchased via TGG on 30th Mar….do I cancel and reorder as it needs tax invoices after 1st April?

[Purchase receipt / tax invoice dated between 1/4/15 - 31/7/15 and shows $0 balance ]

  • Limit 2 claims per household. <- Bit of a bummer

    • Fuji's limit is 5 units.

      • Where did you find this 5 units limit? Couldn't find it anywhere including terms and conditions. I bought 6 during the weekend…

    • Thanks!

I didn't read this, I bought 3 units. 2 small ones and 1 large one.

I'll cancel one of the orders and get someone else to buy it for me.

      • I did the same :P Hoping I can get separate receipts for them anyway

        • +1

Separate receipts don't matter as Panasonic only allow 2 per house, person or email. I split mine anyway as the 20% off was more than $500 off in total.

I ended up creating a 2nd ebay & paypal account in my wife's name (also different address) because I used CTECH20 too many times! (bought 3 coffee machines as gifts).

Bought the 7kw machine under my wife's ebay account. Then I had to use a different credit card as my AMEX card is linked to my 1st paypal account.. lol.. The things we do for $200.

Then requested to cancel my original order.

But thank you for pointing it out, it was in very small fine print. I purchased 3 Fujitsu splits in the past, they processed it without hassles, Panasonic has always been stricter (in the past Pana use to only credit your electricity bill but I think it cost them to much to administer the cashback).

Come on Panasonic, limit of 2? you want us to buy your machines or not!

I use to think OzBargain saved me money, but now I'm not so sure :P

        • I just came back from Brighton GG. Trying to get them to split receipts was like pulling teeth. They wanted to cancel order and resubmit it to fit in with the nature of their filing system, but of course doing so is going to reverse the ebay, so no go.
They didn't bother to bring the units over either, so I had to go to the despot centre in moorabbin to collect it. Even the smallest unit the 2.5kw is pretty big. The head unit is 36x97x26cm and the condensor is 88high x 96Long x 43cm deep
Still managed to squeeze 2 units into a corolla hatch though

        • +1

          @outlander:
Same. Ordered for pickup from Brighton. Phone call told to collect from warehouse. Sort of defeats the purpose of choosing a pickup store.

  • +1

As an added bonus, you may be able to claim VEECs off these units, in some cases worth an extra $120.
    https://www.veet.vic.gov.au/public/Calculator/VEECCalculator…
Not me though, as my suburb is disqualified for having piped gas.

  • According to the Energy Rating website (energyrating.gov.au), these Panasonic models are "no longer manufactured in or imported into Australia/New Zealand"

    http://reg.energyrating.gov.au/comparator/product_types/64/s…

    • Maybe a run out deal.

  • Just got one of these babies, thanks OP :)

  • What happen if I bought slighly too big, eg instead of 2.5kw I bought 3.5kw for 4.5mx4.5m bedroom?

    • Slightly too big is fine.
It's actually a benefit on the odd days when you have either extreme heat or cold because it doesn't need to work as hard as a smaller unit.

  • Got one plus 2% from cashrewards!! THX!

  • Thanks OP - this tipped me over the edge to buy one for the master bedroom ready for next summer.

$537.60 after the $100 cash back - can't complain with that.

    • Cheers guys, remember the 2% cash rewards

  • Thanks OP, saved a big chunk of cash from this wombo combo double discount!

  • Noooo, went to pull the trigger and the coupon has expired :((((

    • You snooze you lose.

Not as cheap, but I've ordered from appliancecentral.com.au and they have good prices. However obviously they aren't get anywhere near this deal as eBay/Paypal is subsidising it.

      • Masters also carry Panasonic a/c so you can get a price match there too.
