Agreed, and once they are installed up there the "wind" is not even blowing downwards at the room occupants.
looks at $20 fan
yeah…no
I'm using a $10 fan here, I could buy another 44!
that gives me an idea…..
I never understood the appeal of these, at that price, could you not get a portable aircon unit?
http://thesweethome.com/reviews/best-fan/
Just get a vornado or extractor fan or if you need a dyson for its looks wait for better sales when they start getting rid of stock
They don't even sell those in Australia and if you import from the US you need a voltage convertor.
The only place I could find a vornado was from Harvey Normals I think, and for about 3x the price of the same thing in US. (and an older worser model too)
Not really. I got a Vornado 660 from HN for $160. Amazon is selling @ US$99 (~AU$130) so it's not that bad. My friend now regret for buying a dyson fan after he saw my vornado.
wait are you sure it is the vornado 660?
this is the only one i could ever find on their site http://www.harveynorman.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=vorna…
they don't list the model number, but the graphic resembles one of their older models
It looks much like the vornado 533 which is about usd $46~ on Amazon
http://www.vornado.com.au/content/533
@Kanasuke: 200% sure it is 660. It has touch buttons instead of turn knob and it's bigger than 533. HN never list it in their website. Marked price was something like $189.
but its liek…. majik
It's the iPhan… overpriced, overrated, over hyped?
A 20 year monopoly (called patents) does this to your price.
They are good if you have kids, put in kids room, no blades,
Or, you know - teach them not to put their hands in the fan.
Or, just use the blade protector that is included on all $5 fans.
Maybe rcrowl's kids are just very…… determined :/
Think this, along with the looks, is why the wife got one.
Pretty much blows (actually, not much) as a fan though.
Price/sale may be ok, but I don't rate the product at all.
They are good if you have kids, put in kids room, no blades,
LOL - it's quite silly to blindly believe marketing hype without actually checking (or thinking about it).
Kids cannot put fingers in any modern fan. Go an look at one in a store - they have a GUARD around the blades!
Also, these Dysons are seriously POXY in the "actually being a fan" department. In fact, even a cheapo $10 fan out performs them - a $15 Chinese box fan so comprehensively outclasses them in acoustics and performance that it's embarrassing.
They look good.
However they make lots of noise, they cost a fortune, and they don't work.
Sounds like a girl I used to know.
Cool for rentals, but gimmick aside, not as effective as a ceiling fan.
