Bauhn Cordless Headphones Aldi Maroubra NSW - $19.95 Discounted from $39.95

60

Picked up a set of these for testing, will try to be brief:

-3 channel transmitter
-Over ear design (albeit if you don't have huge ears)
-Li-On battery built in
-Charges on stand
-Can be used by wire if battery dies
-3.5mm to RCA and 3.5mm to 3.5mm included
-Power, pairing, and volume buttons on headset
-Plastic and pleather construction (but feels decent for an inexpensive product)
-claimed 50m range (line of sight)

Issues I found: (these may or may not be deal breakers for you, or under $20 I thought it was worth posting)

-didn't work with my tv through the headphone jack, only got noise. Switched to the monitor out via RCA and worked fine
-When they turn on for the first time they are always up quite loud and I have to turn them down (not an issue for momentary drop outs)
-The volume control is digital and could have a better resolution
-If the volume is down too low then the unit will think it's not getting signal and turn off to save power. While on its own that's useful the threshold is too high, so at what I think is the optimal volume at night when things are quiet is actually below this threshold which makes them a bit annoying

Considering I already have a pair of Plantronics Gamecom x95 I may end up not keeping these, but for the price they are almost worth using with the cable. The sound quality is comparable, and they cost me twice as much on clearance so I think these are still a great deal for some people. Better than the cheap TDK headphones I got a few weeks ago from DSE too. People appear to be selling them on ebay for $38 bucks.

As you know there is no link to the site as it's shop specific but it may be that there are other shops stocking this item for that price also.

Well I've had these 2 years ago and I wouldn't even pay $2 for this.

    • Good feedback. Thanks.

    • How did you connect it?

  • How many were there in the Maroubra store?

    • Hard to say, they only have 1 in the glass case but the manager immediately knew they had them out back so at least a few one would think.

  • had to return mine as well, way too much background noise and squawking. Bought Sony cordless rechargeable instead and they work just fine (not the cradle design).

    • Did you try connecting by monitor out.

      • Connected to a rca lead adaptor and then to what I thought was a "sound out", but I guess it could be "monitor out". Allows choice of using headphones or TV sound without having to unplug from headphone jack. I'm not real technical so I hope I've explained ok.

        • Hi There, you've explained fine mate, I was curious as for me they worked great once I did that, I was just trying to work out what it might be that caused your issue apart from maybe just a dud set of headphones.

Bugger, that's a dealbreaker :( Thanks for the detailed review.
