FYI for the newbies;

All games need to be 'purchased' during the $0 period.

Xbox One games require Gold account to be maintained to access, 360 games are kept regardless of Gold account.

Xbox One games can be 'purchased via website or 360 dashboard prior to you actually owning the console, as long as you maintain gold account, games will be waiting for you when you get a XB1 console.

1 month codes will work for free games, 48 hour codes will not.

  • Great Post!!

Just checking I'm new to Xbox Gold Live. These games needs continuous gold subscriptions to play? like Gears of War Judgement? or I can still play the game when My Subscription ends?

    Thanks

hi Cyclops, I've added an FYI at the bottom of post with info you're looking for

      • Thanks, Mate!!!

Wow the selection for Xbox 1 is… horrible.

Child of LIght is a pretty sweet game even if it has tba elements

      • +1

COL is 5 - 10 hours of game play. And a pool game that is a re-branded steam game that has been on sale for 99 cents.

Xbox was going in a good direction with rayman legends. This double month is a pretty big let down if you read reddit and forums.

Child of light is a stunning game. Length does not determine quality.

        • Can't really complain when its free :/

        • @Denaz: I think most people are complaining because this April double deal was being advertised as a big one and the xbox one owners are let down by the pool game. Child of light does look like a good game.

        • From a business perspective, it makes sense that Microsoft would save better GwG for later in the year. A bigger chunk of their XB1 sales are going to come in Q4 - I reckon that's when we'll see Ryse, Dead Rising, and Titanfall on GwG across a three or four month period.

Can't comment on quality, I haven't got a XB1 yet. But this month's Rayman Legends was pretty sweet.

    • While I agree, the thing is, there is no way Microsoft is going to give away a free 'proper' AAA title to live members. Those games cost upwards of $50 in most cases. e're going to be limited to arcade/indie titles for at least another 6 months I'd say, then games like Ryze and Titanfall might start to trickle in. For the 360 though, those games are a few years old now, and able to be picked up for cheap, hence why they've been added.

Pool Nation FX looks actually nice for a pool game !

    • It's very good, best pool game I've played. Great physics. The visuals can be a bit overwhelming for some people though

  • Can I snag the 360 ones and keep them even from a trial / 30 day pass? Seems like a solid value

    • +1

      Yes :)

      • +3

Little tip, if you wait til like at least 2 days into the month, get this months free ones, and then 1 or two days into the next month you can get those too. so 8 games on a 30 day trial!

        • +1

          Thanks for the TIP!!!

        • +1

wouldn't the 30 day pass need to start on the 16th to get all 8 games (assuming all 4 for the month are available on the one day)? Otherwise the 30 days would run out before the last 2 weeks of the following month & the max would be 6?

        • @dexter_jambles:
True, although I don't believe they're all available on the same day and that they get replaced by the new ones.

In this case you would end up with 6 then, plus the 4 xbox One games (even just "purchase" them at $0 and they'll add to your library for future if you do get an xbox one)

    • Yep I just bought a $2 48 hour pass for this very reason.

      • +1

1 month codes will work for free games, 48 hour codes will not.

        • Oh ok 1 month codes are often only around $7 anyway, which for 8 games is still a bargain.

Also, Forza Horizon 2 Fast and Furious has just gone free for a limited time:

This standalone expansion will be available at no additional cost until April 10, 2015. The next great automotive adventure begins with the Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious standalone expansion for Xbox 360! For the first time ever, the Forza experience of thrilling driving and amazing cars is combining with the unstoppable Fast & Furious movie franchise to create an original adventure filled with adrenaline-fueled automotive action.

Mad if you don't snap it up but not sure if this is Gold only

  • Gears Judgement - they should be paying us to take it from them!

It's a bargain considering it's free :( (feel bad for those of us who paid for it).

  • What's the going rate for a 12 month live sub?
Mine just about up, but think it's good value just for collecting a few games.

    • $40 American. So about $50 Australian I guess.
