  Add a credit card, then immediately delete it from your account. If that is still too risky for you, use a generated card number and then delete it.

  It's weird, i have over $100 in credit sitting on my xbox account and it asks me for a credit card too. I just downloaded it through my xbox rather than on the website

It's great that it is free, but stupid that you need to add a credit card to get it for free.

Still a good spot by OP, just a pity MS are being dodgy about it…
