You get the eftpos card with any new policy, whether it be hospital or extras or both. I took out the saver options which I think was $8.25 per fortnight & with the rate increase it only goes up to $8.60 per fortnight.
Also, if you join before the 1st April they are waiving waiting periods except major dental & you get unlimited emergency ambulance too, not just one trip per year I found with some other health insurers.

Their dental is based on a percentage back, with each level giving you a higher percentage. I'm on their Super options (second top) and get 80% back on all my dental, unlimited cap for preventative maintenance (ie. clean and polish).
I've been with HIF for about 10 years now, their premiums are lower than all the other insurers and their benefits are better than the others I've compared to (ie. Medibank, HBF, etc). Disclaimer: I don't have hospital cover, only options cover.
I've been with HIF for a few years, went with them because of their good dental plan. Have compared to some other plans recently due to incoming price hike & they are still are the cheapest I can find for good cover. I have Goldstarer hosptital & Special extra, pay $180 per month for family of 4.
im currently paying $18 per month for BUPA bronze extras… cant find anything as cheap… probably my cover is comparatively bad or something
I guess it depends on the benefits you use. Most people just buy extras for dental and ambulance. I use mine for glasses, physio and a few other things (ie. HIF paid the complete cost of a blood pressure monitor that was $300).
I would see if the benefits match what you wnat to use. If it does, then there isn't much more you need. If it doesn't, it might be worth considering upgrading.

Also note that you get 12% off per year if you sign up with Surfing SA (or Surfing NSW or any other other Surfing associations) - the fee is $50 per year and the 12% discount outweighs that by a decent margin if you are getting a comprehensive plan (for me I saved about $90 per year with the Surfing SA discount).
You can also receive a 4% discount if you pay for one year in advance.
You can pay by credit card and receive any reward points (HIF does not charge any credit card commissions).
