which one capture better video this canon or kodak zi8 full HD ?

    Link edited

    • you're joking, right? of course this full camcorder gets better images - have you bothered to do any research or even watch youtube clips of the performance of the Kodak one?

      • No, I downloaded many video samples of kodak zi8 but many ppl told me that canon has much better optics and lens.

        • It's like comparing apples and oranges - the canon is an entry level camcorder with optical zoom capabilities and other features of a full camcorder. The Kodak model (I'm looking into the Zx1, it appears to perform better in low light/indoors) doesn't have optical zoom features or the other types of things you get with a full camcorder. If you want something phone size you can use to get HD videos outside during the daylight then the kodak is a good choice. If you want to be able to zoom and have better optics (and can settle for SD video) then go for the canon. The canon is good for an entry level camcorder, but if you're used to $1000 video cameras it will probably not meet expectations in terms of video quality.

  • should I just wait for a cheaper canon HD one?

  • +1

Canon FS200 is standard definition video cam and not full hd. Canon's optics and processing though are hips better then Kodak's.
Canon make full hd cams also…

  • As an alternative I have a little Sanyo CG10 which I took to Europe. It fits in my pocket and is a good mix of HD video and convienience. I paid about $300 for it but found a place online for under $200. Bargain.

    • Seems like a nice little cam (CG10) this one is $190 and comes with $10 insurance free and a door2door warranty (18months it looks like) http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product…

    • timmye,

Can you help with a digital camera. Want to get something for a gift for someone who just wants to point and shoot.- but with decent pixels. She is going to US in Dec- would it be better to buy it there ?

      • usually the prices are better there, and if it dies during her trip she can return it. However, warranty is also an issue if it dies when she brings it back to Australia - might have to ship it back to America to get it serviced under warranty. It's not hard to do price comparisons between here and there.

    • wow that camera is actually really nice for the price. i think the 'canon ixus 110 is' is also good. 12MP digital camera that takes 720p HD videos for about $300 on ebay. best of both worlds

  • How do you get the $30 off on this? I'm at the confirm stage and it still says that I'm to pay $318.95.

    • +2

You get $30 store rebate. So you pay $299+postage and then you'll get $30 worth of credit points to use when buying other stuff from shoppingsquare.

Rather than $30 off, think of the deal as $299 + Postage + a $30 gift voucher instead.

      • +1

i agree, it's more like a voucher than a cash back

  • This is a really great price.. its a great video cam and easy to use

It says $30 store credit so no discount as such

  • Thanks for posting! I'm heading off to Japan for a one month ski holiday in January, looking for something a bit more powerful. Can anybody recommend me a 720p / 1080p without spending a fortune?

    Cheers!

    • For ski/action shots you'd want a good HD cam. HF10 is probably the best consumer HD model for the money. Or HV20/HV30 if you like tapes.

  • OMG I cant believe this great. I bought FS100 for $400 last year from Myer. Does anyone know the price of Canon FS100 now

  • +1

how come no one mentioned the shipping price of $20? to kogarah anyway.

still good a price, but a bit misleading not to mention it in the title.

  • This shoppingsquare takes ages to reply to my ticket that I have opened regarding my order.

@danilochan: You are shoppingsquare rep, can you response to my ticket? It's better if you have email option enable on ozbargain so we can contact you for help if needed.

    • for sure I can help, what is the ticket number?

      • Hi,
Can you provide a way to contact you directly instead of going through ozbargain? Ticket number is 158366

  • does anyone have a screenshot of the offer, i would like to claim my 120% difference with Topbuy
    maybe danilochan can help me?

  • Anyone had their camera supplied yet? I chased them up a couple of weeks ago. They took days to reply but finally said:

"There is an unexpect delay from our vendor. This item will arrive 23/11-25/11. Item will be shipped out with in 1-2 working days after arrival."

Then yesterday another mail to say they had to swap suppliers and they would receive it 4 December. Offered a free tripod for my patience or option to cancel and still keep the free $30 bonus.

The options seem a reasonable compromise to me so I chose to leave the order in place for now.
