Stanley Fatmax 18V 4 Piece Kit $299 (Save $150) @ Masters- Selected Melbourne Stores Only

430

Was wandering the aisles at the local Masters and came across this ripper deal for some really good quality tools. On paper, the specs for these compare very favourably to trade quality products (same parent company that own Dewalt etc).

All previous research on the Fatmax power tool range suggests that these are simply re-branded Porter Cable tools with a different colour scheme. (grey and red vs black and yellow)

Selected stores confirmed to have discounted pricing so far are:
- Knoxfield
- Box Hill
- Preston

This may be due to those stores currently being refurbished however other people maybe able to take advantage of this pricing elsewhere using the online delivery option?

As the standard drill and impact driver sell for $249 @ Masters, this 4 piece kit is worth the extra $50 for the 2 extra two bare tool skins (angle grinder and reciprocating saw) which sell individually for $129 and $119 respectively.

Includes high performance 18v Li-Ion Compact Drill Driver FMC600D2
Includes high performance 18v Li-Ion Compact Impact Driver FMC645D2
Includes high performance 18v Li-Ion Small Angle Grinder FMC761B
Includes high performance 18v Li-Ion Reciprocating Saw FMC675B

  • GOOOD

  • I think I saw a 10% off code floating around too ???

    • huloosinashen ?

    • +1

Hey jv I thought that code was expired?

  • If anyone has a receipt floating around for these, could you please post it up? I'm wondering whether a Sydney Matsers store would price match it?

    • Why not try setting your postcode as one of the above stores and then using delivery? Would that "trick" the masters systems for the discounted price?

      • I've already tried that. No luck.. it just readjusts to the full price :-(

        • Hope you got the big w vouchers to use from Groupon

        • @montorola: No, they cancelled my order. Didn't they cancel everyones?

        • @kimba88:
Are you talking about the deal posted today? I haven't had mine cancelled.. Don't tell me they're doing it again

        • Use incognito mode.
Preston VIC still had stock at the time of this message.

        • @montorola: No, sorry. I meant the woolworths ones the other week

  • How many & size (AH) of batteries?

    • 2 x 2.0Ah Batteries

  • Great find, Thanks.
Full price at Oakleigh South and Keysborough stores (Vic). Will try for direct price match using website printout, as this has worked in the past, even from Sydney stores (they don't 10% price beat themselves unfortunately)

  • Noob question. Is the actual tool twice the quality of the 909 kit for $120?

    • Bought one of the 909 kits a while ago, returned instantly.

    • At least. 909 is similar to the Kmart quality

  • -1

I want these, but I already have Ozito versions of them. Damn it!

    • +4

Depends on how often you use your tools and the duration of each use too. Also your ozito tools might not be as powerful as these meaning you simply cannot do some jobs that these will breeze through. I've totes justified your new purchase now, thank me later.

      • Haha, cheers!

Was wandering the isles at the local Masters

    Have they gone under water?

    • +3

Haven't you heard of the Masters Isles?
They lie slightly south of the Bunnings Straits

      • +8

        Mitre heard of em before

    • They are leaking badly ( money that is)

  • I have got 18v bosh lion drill & hammer. Is it worth the update?

    • +2

      You bosher, you!

    • If
Green Bosch - potentially, as the Green stuff is a bit meh, and you get a bit of extra kit in this one
Blue Bosch - the Fat Max would be an instant downgrade!

  • Thanks OP! $284.05 with 5% code.

  • Masters is currently running a trade card 5% deal which anybody can sign up at the desk.

  • dam. good combo but no monies.

  • How do the drills compare to the Ryobi One drills you can get?

    • Ryobi is DIY, Stanley Fatmax is trade quality tools

      • These days if I was wanting to buy a "Trade Quality" cordless drill, I would only look at brushless drills.

        • why would you for the extra money that brushless demands, unless you're a tradie and need the extra longevity with the batteries and a smidge more power.

for the price of a brushless drill, here you're getting two trade quality tools that are heaps better but priced similar to other home use tool brands? ie - bosch green, ozito, 909, rockwell…

  • God I hate these Masters deals. Absolutely useless to us inner-Sydney OzBargainers… wouldn't even know where the nearest one is. I'd probably need my passport just to get to one. Bunnings on the other hand - theres at least four within 15 minutes drive… where's the Bunnings love???

    :(

Also, I don't know whether I approve of this variable pricing according to postcode…

    • Chullora unfortunately.

I drive past 3 Bunnings stores to get to my nearest Masters.

Forget even thinking about Mitre 10

  • What's an 'Impact Driver' do?

    • Fits all your screwing type bits (flat, philips, etc) into it, and takes adapters to connect socket heads, etc.

Great to have side by side with the drill so you don't need to keep swapping attachments after you drill a hole to attach your joint together.

    • +4

an impact driver also generally has more torque than a drill (in this case 180nm impact driver vs ~51nm drill) so for things like screwing together two pieces of timber, its great as it has the power to do so without pre-drilling

    • +1

Think of it like a hammer drill but instead of hammering in and out, it "hammers" in a circle. The effect is that you get more torque and therefore tighter screws.

    • basically it has a single size chuck that you can mount drill bits & sockets into

It means you get heaps of torque, and many times you can drive in screws etc without pre-drilling, or stripping the heads.

      • Hey thanks for the replies, so basically a really strong cordless drill. I've been using my bosch drill for screwing things together so I might look into an impact driver as well. If anyone buys the kit and doesn't the impact driver let me know. :)

        • so basically a really strong cordless drill.

yep, and the chuck is a non adjustable hex socket.

It's hard to justify an impact driver if you're not doing a lot of screwing.

        • @Davo1111:

I somtimes do a lot of screwing. :)
But I have the other three tools so it's not worth me buying the whole kit.

        • @EightImmortals:

"skins" come up every so often. Just need to make sure they're compatible

  • it is sad when my closest shopping centre has a costco and and masters and a Ikea coming soon…..

  • +1

These are re skinned Porter Cable tools, you can generally find reviews on Amazon for the equivalent normally marketed as 20v there..

  • Shame it's not a Hammer Drill also.

  • $449 in other states :(

  • Can someone please upload a receipt if they managed to get this!

  • Out of stock at all three stores.

    • home delivery at knoxfield store still appears to be available…

  • Which store is home? Is it $299? I'm very interested if I can get one.

  • Only works if you live in knoxfield or it's tour closest store. None in store or click and collect. I somehow don't you'd get it delivered if they don't have any in store, but is be happy of I was wrong.
