grr, just got an optus plan a month ago. Will be calling them to try this on.

a postpaid mobile service on a $60 plan or above, on a 24 month contract; or
a postpaid mobile broadband service on a $30 plan or above, on a 24 month contract.

OR

3 months free (thanks unity1 for this find, $15 prepaid mobile device http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/optus-huawei-…)

Optus is also giving prepaid customers a three month subscription when they purchase any prepaid phone or mobile broadband device and activate the included SIM.

How does Optus’ offer work?

  • This just keeps getting better and better. In the past few weeks, I've negotiated a $20/month loyalty discount, unlimited mobile calls, Big Home Bundle (unlimited internet, Fetch TV and tablet) and now Netflix, all without paying a cent more than my previous plan. Getting NBN soon with free speed pack already promised too!

    • How much are you paying?

I'm on the big home bundle for $90 + 10$ speedpack to 50mbps (NBN) + 10$ for unlimited mobile calls + 15$ for world saver ultimate.

They said they couldn't do the speedpack for free :(

      • +3

$90 per month ($70 after loyalty discount)

    • Is the tablet free because it says ''$0 upfront tablet repayments after $19 per month tablet credit.'' What does that mean?

      • +1

It's free as long as you stay on the plan for 24 months. If you change plans you'll have to pay $19 per month for the remaining time.

        • Hi, Morgan ~ I just wanted to clarify with you what you get from Optus?
          ~ $20/month loyalty discount
          ~ Unlimited mobile calls
~ Big Home Bundle (includes unlimited internet, Fetch TV and tablet)
~ Netflix (6 months free trial)
~ NBN soon with free speed pack
          ~ $70 /month

~ Do you get 30 Entertainment Channels or just Basic Fetch TV?
~ What do you pay for your mobile phone plan (Is that with Optus, too?)
~ How much is your plan WITH your mobile phone included?
~ What number did you call to negotiate your deal? Customer Support or Retentions?

Thanks so much… Want to use your info to negotiate a better deal with Optus. :) Just making sure I have all my ducks in a row, first. lol

        • +2

That's correct, just basic Fetch TV. I'm with Optus prepaid, so no bonuses there (doubt you'd be able to stack anyway). I called Retentions saying that I was thinking of switching to TPG, told them people on OzBargain and Whirlpool were getting $20/month loyalty discounts, got that and the Big Home Bundle. Got the unlimited mobile calls and promised free speed pack after complaints regarding my plan, that were escalated to Customer Relations (later start date than promised, being incorrectly told that I'd get unlimited calls, powerline adapter and tablet not delivered on time, not calling me back etc). Called my Customer Relations representative (I have one now!) for Netflix.

        • @M0RGAN: Thanks so much Morgan… I will give them a call tomorrow :) Inspired now! lol

        • @M0RGAN: Tried calling, the guy from retention won't even both with any of it.

Has anyone got a code yet from optus?

Just wondering if we are really going to have to wait 14days….

    • I asked on facebook (activated a prepaid broadband device yesterday) and they said the following

"Can take up to 14 days for the code to be send out via SMS Jordan, should be a bit sooner though"

      • Did you get any initial email once you activated the prepaid broadband. I havent received one yet?

        • No, I did not.

        • +1

Just got the email yesterday saying welcome to prepaid optus broadband.

and i just got the netflix code tonight XD

        • @taurenpally:

Was the Netflix code for the $11.99 plan and is there an option to upgrade to the $14.99 plan.

        • @melmac77:

From what I've read it's the hd plan.

Couldn't redeem the code because the receive code button isn't working and have to call up aparently….

  • I just spoke with a guy at Optus (after using the online chat). The guy was clearly from their Indian call centre and not from their fixed line team (I only reference this as I am not sure if he actually knew what he was talking about). In any case, he said that after 17 April when Netflix becomes unmetered all Optus broadband customers with Fetch TV will get the free 6 month trial.

I had called trying to get the Netflix offer added to my bundle, which is yet to be activated. He said not to worry as after 17 April you will get access to the free trial.

  • Wonder if the codes are transferrable. I might get one (still pondering signing up for a package) but not sure I really want netflix.

Or how long the coupon lasts until expiry - keep it for a rainy day if there is something I really want that I can't get on blu ray or itunes…

    • +1

you have to use the code within 14 days of receiving it or it expires

      • Ah, thanks.

      http://www.optus.com.au/shop/promotions/netflix-subscription…

Got this from the above link.

"When do I have to claim my Netflix voucher from Optus by?
Once you receive your email/SMS/letter from us, you'll have 14 calendar days to claim your voucher online. You'll need to activate this voucher with Netflix before midday 30 September 2015."

The cut off date for this offer is July 5th. So even if you claim after 14 days from the 5th July, the last date to use the voucher would be July 29th. So to my understanding is that once you activate your service (Optus), they will send you a link to claim for your Netflix Voucher (receive within 14 days), then you have till Midday 30th September to use that voucher on Netflix to claim for your free trial.

      Correct me if i'm wrong.
But if that's true.. then it's worth buying those Optus $15 prepaid Modem.

"Can I use more than one Netflix voucher per Netflix account?
Yes! You can use multiple Optus Netflix vouchers on the same Netflix account; they do not override each other."

      • Thats great.
So the codes stack? Or need to used one after the other?

  • Anyone able to get through to Optus? On the phone, waited over half an hour and gave up. Online chat was busy. :/

    • I had to wait over an hour before getting through. Don't give up! Online chat just told me to call because they couldn't upgrade my plan online.

      • Called during lunch break, wait was longer than lunch. Called when I got home at 5… Still waiting now at 6:30… But I'm hanging on…

6:48 update, just got off phone, and they flat out refused. My order was 12 March, with install date next week. All she could suggest was get a prepaid mobile, or cancel order and reorder, thus pushing back install date another month.

        Not happy.

Anyone know which Netflix plan Optus is offering?

Took one hour waiting on my mobile to get the response from the Indian call centre "Go check our website"…

I got upset and he read it himself and told me he doesn't know and was not told what plan they are offering.

If you have recently signed up with their contract you will need to restart that 24 month contract again to get this 6 month Netflix deal.

    • +1

Says on the first page it is the $11.99 HD plan. It doesn't provide a link though.

      • wonder if you can pay the difference to netflix to get the top tier 4 stream plan

  • +3
    Merged from 4 months Netflix - $15

    As per the Optus website:

"Optus is also giving prepaid customers a three month subscription when they purchase any prepaid phone or mobile broadband device and activate the included SIM."

This prepaid modem - Optus Huawei E3351 3G USB Modem is $15 at Officeworks and is eligible for this deal.

Combined with the standard Netflix 1 month free trial, and you've got 4 months of Netflix for $15!

(Optus deal is for the $11.99/month plan - normally would be $36, save $21)

    • Repost. but helpful none the less

    • Put these 2 posts together, and it's clearly a dupe:

I wouldn't have worked it out that way TA, maybe instead of having people work this out through two posts they could just come to this one? ;)

        • +4

This deal was copied straight from here. Plagiarised, and no credit given.

        • +1

@tightarse: on the ball TA :)

credit to unity1 tho, that was his great find.

        • @tightarse:

Didn't know it was plagiarised. Fair enough then :P

        • @ChickenTalon:

I got my $15 Optus 3G modem, hope it works! LOL

    • Great work OP, I'll see if I can track down one of those $15 dongles and get my binge streaming going.

      • Got one at my local OW. Now waiting for my initial one month trial nearing its expiry then activate the dongle.

    • I have a $2 optus sim card here i should activate and see if i get the code

      • you would need a $10 sim pack minimum

        • Hi EC, just wondering if you (or anyone else) has had success with a purchased $10 sim? The T&C's seem to indicate that it has to be an included sim that comes with either a phone or prepaid mobile device.

    • So can i sign up now and the get the Optus 3 months added??

      • Just had a read through the FAQ

"If you already have a Netflix free trial you will still get to finish it before your subscription begins. However, a new customer signing up with their Optus bonus subscription does not get the free trial."

Worded strangely but I think we can do the 1+3 month combo

    • Do the codes stack?

      • which other code do you wanna stack?

Do you mean you wanna buy multiple Optus dongles and try and get multiple codes from them?

        • Yeah

        • @wonderboy: Looks like I am dealing with a professional here! :)

Give it a try and see how you go.

Netflix would almost certainly accept the code as they probably wouldn't know where it came from. It's essentially life a gift card.

I expect the problem you will have, if any, is with Optus. Not sure they will issue you a second code if you activate another device under the same name, address and DOB.

If you can activate it on behalf of a family member, different story!

          Either way, keep us posted.

          @ginmi:

          From the FAQ (http://www.optus.com.au/shop/promotions/netflix-subscription…)

Can I use more than one Netflix voucher per Netflix account?
Yes! You can use multiple Optus Netflix vouchers on the same Netflix account; they do not override each other.

  • +3

Or $20 for 3 months if Officeworks has none. Coles has it on special starting April 1.

  • Is the 3mths netflix coupon stackable? Oops, question was already asked above.

  • I just tried to redeem my code from Optus, now my account settings show that there's "no payment information", even when I have already updated it before and after I redeemed my code. If I try to redeem my code again, it says it has already been used. It did say, however, that when I redeemed it, that it had been applied to my account. My problem is I can't see anywhere any record of it, or anything that shows when my membership will expire…? Anyone face a similar situation?

    • What does it say under My Account -> Billing details?

      https://www.netflix.com/BillingActivity

      • +1

I got on to online chat with them. They can see that it's setup for 7 months free. Currently still shows the one month trial, but will switch over to 6 months when the trial ends.

Are people receiving their 3 month prepaid codes? Still waiting here.

    • got mine after a week of activating the prepaid 3g dongle

      • Cheers, I better call them.

      • Did you get a text or an email? Because I can't receive a text with a internet dongle and sure have not emails.

        • both codes ive got have been by emails about a week to a week and a half after activating

  • Has anyone received their code yet?
I recontracted with them, downgrading from $115 entertainment bundle to $90 cost. When I called them last week, the guy said I didn't recontract, then backtracked and said I have recontracted and I'll get $25 off when I get bills from now on. He also said that there's still another 7 days to go for 14 day waiting period (I recontracted 23/3) and to wait until this Friday.

    • Just wait?
I got mine pretty quick… around a week, I think.

  • Finally got my code and applied it in my Netflix account (after going to the site Optus sends you to).
I am in the middle if the free month, so went ahead and applied it. Something about $30 something dollars flashed up and that was it. Now I cant see anything associated with it in my account or billing. I hope it just kicks in once the free month is up.
    Anyone know?

  • +2

Just got a code for 6 months free Netflix from Optus. Didn't upgrade/recontact during promotional period. Email said it was "It's our way of saying thanks for being with us."

  • got this for free, and I'm not on a contract. But I did change my BYO plan recently.

    • Yes, you are on a contract with BYO, or any other postpaid. The difference is that you can terminate without penalty.

  • I understand that the code will be provided in up to 14 days, but what is the experience for others on this forum.
How long in reality does it take to get the code?

    • Next day, by SMS.

      • It's been 24hrs and still no code

        • It's been a week now and still no code.

Anyone else got their code within the last 7 days?

        • @adunt:

it took about a week and a half to get my first code and now im waiting on my 2nd which has been almost a week so far.

        • @taurenpally:

Just got my 2nd code by email.

it was from a prepaid service

      • Anyone able to confirm if just activating the SIM in an eligible product is enough to get the code or does the purchased device need to used on the network?

I have activated the SIM, but using it in another modem. Still no code yet.

        • Have a little patience.

        • @manic:
Fair call. It's just my one month free trial runs out very soon and I want to add the code ASAP.

  • For anyone else's info. Activated via online (with no ID requested) on 7th. Received the Netflix code today 11th via text to the phone. ($14.50 coles one)

    Thanks OP
