Buy a specially marked 2L bottle of Ribena syrup ($10.99 on special today at my local Woolworths/Safeway) and get a $10 Angus & Robertson online voucher. The voucher also includes free shipping (normally $6 for a single book). Only 1 claim per household.

I haven't bought Ribena in years — I've never seen it as any healthier than other sugared drinks out there — but seeing it on special and getting $16 off a book purchase on top of that was too good for me to pass up! :)
Totally agree. I haven't touched it since then and never will. Seems like a good deal though if you do like it.
uhh wasn't it only an issue with their ready to drink (ie: not the syrup)?
Remember to check that there is a sticker on the bottle. I bought Ribena from Woolworth on Saturday and it didn't come with the sticker.
So are there any books from the site that are $10 or lower?
The Popular Penguins are $8, if you're interested in any of those.
Have to be careful with Angus & Robertson (and Borders to). In my experience they routinely charge in excess of RRP these days - sometimes well in excess. I was looking up a range of books a week or so back and all of them were considerably more pricey at these two stores than at other chains - Readings/Dymocks etc (it was a list of between 5 and 10 books i checked).
One example - Metamorphoses by Ovid (9780140447897). Retails for $14.95 (Penguin's Oz site); Readings has it for $14.95, whereas Angus & Robertson charges $19.95, and Borders charges $20.95. So, pretty severe markups.
Even more pulpish stuff - eg. The Wizard/Knight, Gene Wolfe (9780575077102). $39.95 at Minotaur/Readings (RRP), $44.95 at Borders, $49.95 at Angus & Robertson.
I saw this yesterday and got one from Woolworths. If you are interested in buying a book anyway, then it's a great deal.
Never buy ribena normally…i didn't even know it was concentrate..i watered it down after i realised i was drinking syrup.
I remember reading somewhere that contrary to what they claim Ribena has no Victamin C in it
Sorry for the negative vote. I got it for about $8 on special 2 weeks ago from Woolworths together with the $10 online voucher.
The bargain you're voting on here isn't the price I paid for the Ribena; I merely mentioned the $10.99 figure to give people an indication of what the 2L bottle might cost them (it costs over $12 normally at my local Woolworths). No, the sole reason for this post is to alert people to the $10 voucher offer and not to the price of the Ribena. I'm not sure why you think that's worthy of a negative vote, when you clearly thought it was a bargain when you took up the $10 voucher offer yourself.
- I didn't vote -ve
- I didn't take up the offer
- I was merely commenting on the fact that Ribena is not a rich source of Vitamin C as they claim they are.
cheers.
If you look at comment threading again you'll see I was commenting on ca6leguy's negative vote, and not your comment! I've got no issue with your comment at all. :)
And yes, Ribena/GlaxoSmithKline was fined for deceptive conduct in New Zealand a few years ago after it was found that their ready-to-drink (not their syrup) products had next to no Vitamin C content despite their claims.
ca6leguy, your neg is stupid- you could have gotten a $10 voucher with your $8 purchase.
It would take much more for me to start buying Ribena again after the recent debacle with vitamin content.
Otherwise the deal seems OK.
