iPod Nano (7th Gen) 16GB (All Colours) $149 Inc FREE Same/Next Day Delivery @ Officeworks

131

I watched the Apple Watch announcement hoping they would refresh the iPod lineup but no (might be something in September?). Anyways, I was also shocked like many others to see all the Australian pricing hike up. For the iPod Nano, it was;

$199 in the Apple Store
$168 at JB HiFi

Now…?

$219 in the Apple Store
$218 at JB HiFi

But…

It's still only $149 at Officeworks with same/next day delivery for free (tested to 2000, 2011)

  • nice! no doubt officeworks will adjusting pricing shortly! such a big market because of our aud probably

    • Maybe…I bought one last week for my brother in law and forgot to post the deal. Then I got paid yesterday and went, I save $70 how can I loose it's like I'm making money, so I bought another 2!

  • Apparently, Apple are ditching iPods - in favour of selling more phones as they do the same thing

  • How is a 16gb mp3 player for $150 a bargain?

Just because it didn't go up in price like other stores hardly makes it a bargain. You gotta be a damn fool to buy this. This product is just confused, it's a cheap mp3 player that is not cheap with an advanced interface and features without the features or interface.

    Who would buy this?

It's a bargain if you needed one.

You may need one if you are locked into the iTunes ecosystem.

      • ITunes "ecosystem" for the iPod nano ….is just music right ?
Try googling iTunes music to android or something
        I'm sure there are ways

    • It was already $50 cheaper than Apple, and $18 than JB, now it's even more so.

Saying it's not a bargain due to exchange rate changes is also saying those sub-$1000 return flights to the US aren't a bargain either.

      • Well I guess my point is this. If something is worth say $50 and is on sale for $150,just because everyone else is selling it for $220, that does not make the product being available for $150 a bargain. Yeah it's great that your helping people out find the best available price for a product, but again, this is hardly a bargain.

Depends on the market. If someone can afford a $120k Porsche and buys it for $100k well then that's a bargain even if you couldn't afford it.

Value is in the eyes of the buyer…

@abc: sure if he buys a 911 gt3 it's a bargain. If he pays $100k for a boxter not so much.

Bargain implies some value in the purchase.

    • +1

it's a bargain because its cheaper than other places by almost $70…
i think you're confused when you say "it's a cheap mp3 player that is not cheap with an advanced interface and features without the features or interface"

This isn't an average mp3 player made in china.

This is Apple, with quality, and bluetooth. Perfect companion for jogging or gym.

And, no, you can't replace this with an iPhone, they are too heavy and big for jogging or gym. Too precious if dropped too.

    • i don't know of any other mp3 player this small that has bluetooth. i also got mine from cash converters for $89

  • -2

still too much for a mp3 player.
dont we all and phones which do the same thing?

    • +6

For the gym/exercise/running, these are great. Light, good battery life and in this model, Bluetooth for wireless headphones. I'm upgrading from Gen6, only shame is they didn't include the clip in this model

    • +6

problem is that phones are slowly becoming the size of encyclopedia books, i still use my ipod shuffle cause of its size.

But you can get a lumia 530 for $40 at Woolworths

    • harvey norman and officeworks often do $18-25 androids too

    • The iPod offers much better sound quality.

      • +2

        Proof ?

    • +1

They are a bit bigger than an ipod nano though..

Edit: Actually they aren't THAT much bigger, the nano is bigger than I thought

    • Nokia Lumia 530: Plays music. Bonus phone function as well!

A great deal for this specific product.

A poor deal for an MP3 player in general.

    • +2

Yeah you can get a fiio x1 from addicted to audio (i think?) for $129 and one of those samsung 32gb micro sd cards from a couple of days ago for $17.95. I'm looking to get this as an upgrade from a nano 6th gen.

      • +2

Yeah the FiiO offers much better sound quality than the iPod, but it comes with obvious trade-offs too.

      • I have one and I'd suggest it as well. Great build and sound quality and good enough battery life. Not as long as my Sony Walkman before but still plenty. Only thing I find is that it is quite thick compared to other mp3's of similar class. The silicon case while great to protect means that in combination with the thickness sometimes means it's a bit of a struggle to put the device in tight pants pockets.

  • Why Apple didn't make iPhone for $500 when AUD expensive than uSD!!

    • the 5C is still $529 from Apple Store.

They wouldn't dare raise the price of something no one buys :D

I'm surprised they raised the price of iPod's as no one buys them either haha

      • The 5c is still $529 from the Apple Store.

        I fixed that for you.

At $400 the 5c was a fair price. As it was sold for in the last TELSTRA sale.

Expensive for a music player. Can get a 530 fir cheaper and still put a 64gb card in it. Want to pay the apple tax. Go right ahead.

Order was just delivered 5 hours later, can't fault that!
