10% off apple macs, good deal if you don't care about the new models as Apple jacked all the prices up.
E.g. Macbook Air 128gb (2014) $1078 vs $1399 for the new model. For the Air I think the only difference between the old and new models is the CPU and SSD speed.

Anyone had any experience with getting JB to "add stuff on"?
Im interested in getting the best deal possible for a mate of mine and he will need a 3g/4g dongle and a portable hard drive so was curious to see if they would play ball.
I hear buying apple care (and returning it) makes them more willing.
How do you return AppleCare? I've never bought it before but I would assume it's not a physical package of something as its a service?
I assume It's a physical package at retail stores
The 2014 models had their RRP price set in June 2014. Since then the dollar has dropped about 18%.
Therefore the new 2015 models are likely much more expensive than the 2014 models were.Because of this, the 2014 models represent amazing value. If you're in the market, I would definitely consider picking one up.
Probably good advice. Note Apple adjusted their own prices this week to account for the slipping dollar. While I didn't check the MacBook range, a 128gb iPhone 6 Plus is now $1449.
I believe generally prices went up across the board by about 15% from where they were last week. I'd definitely jump now if you're planning to get a system shortly and are happy with a 2014 model.
I notice that JB HiFi's 10% off discount is based on the old price. Meaning that the actual discount is far higher than 10%.
For example:
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/apple/ap…Yeah figured that was the case while they clear out the old inventory.
Interestingly, the 15" models are still current. Apple didn't refresh these, and probably won't until the middle of the year.
So if you're after a 15" model, there really is no better opportunity than right now.If only I was going overseas. This discount plus the TRS rebate is a great price for MacBook with a 2GB discrete graphics card.
The new model isn't 25% better. Get on this if you want a Macbook Air for close to $1000.
$1000 isn't as good as the $800-890 deals in the past!
I built a time machine that allowed me to travel back into the past to pick up old bargains. But they wouldn't take my 2015 credit card, so it was a total waste of effort.
They return ~yearly. Although retailers are getting smarter, but some of them appear to be outsourcing their coupon code programming.. :D
Nice deal. Do Apple store price match JB ?
I got them to pricematch when I bought my MBA in July 2013 with no hassles at all.. The guy literally brought up the JB site on one of the display computers and sorted it with no issue. However, that was back when we were almost at parity with the USD, so not sure if they might be more reluctant now
apple store wont be selling 2014 models anymore … so no dice
15" MacBook Pro model is unchanged. Yes Apple price match they just don't advertise it as such.
Went to apple today to get them to price match.
They refused to match JBs price as it was $3 more than 10%.
Anyone tried the OfficeWorks 5% price beat?
Yep, just tried to price beat the Mac Mini 1.4GHz for $528.39. They refused to price match it to me as its not in stock at JB Hi-Fi.
Officeworks have been price beating 10% sales previously, so should work.
All Macbooks can't be price matched as OW is beating the price by 20/40c already.
good deal for mbp 15
Not if you care about gaming or graphic intensive tasks. The 7 series GPU is two generations out of date (Nvidia 9 series presently out)
3 external 1080p displays + MBP retina display though… That's a lot of screen real estate (for non gaming) :)
But for gaming… nothing wrong with nvidia GPU. I was playing borderlands 2 stutter-free on mine.
Nothing wrong with the Nvidia GT750M? Have a look at http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark…. In terms of performance, it's at position #114. Yep there's 113 better cards/configurations out there. Here is the direct link: http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-750M.90245.0.…
You can see game benchmarks. Borderlands 2 stutter-free maybe on low to mid settings. Try cranking that to Ultra at native res. It'll be lag city. The 750M is a very poor card for gaming unless you enjoy playing on low resolution with low/med graphics.
Incorrect on two accounts. Firstly, why the hell am I wanting to play ultra settings at native (retina) res on a laptop? At 1680 I'm on medium and high on all settings. Sure it's not native, but it's easily good enough.
Secondly, showing how many cards are better than it is a logical fallacy - there being plenty of better cards has absolutely no affect on the quality of the built in card - it just shows there are better ones out there. The 750M is still easily good enough for most games.
Not sure how long it'll be till the 15-inch gets upgraded. Until then this is a good deal.
After skylake is out most likely, so probably at the end of this year or early next year.
But if AUD keeps falling at the current rate, the price of the high end model will probably skyrocket to 3999. :(
Not much of a price drop on the Macbook Air 13". I could have gotten it from Good Guys for $1,090. I was hoping for a bigger sale :/
I was looking for Macbook Pro 13 Retina 128GB, non of jb has them instock, Call up Officework, yeah they have 13 in warehouse, but when i ask for price match, then she said no stock available when she try to add it in cart for me?
So I got transfer to another Officework in Sth Melb, the dude said no match since website has no product, and he wont match with they have 10% off, He wanted the Price tag on the unit! LOL I hope someone understand more about their price match policy charms in and explain. Look to me like they hate price match!
When you consider the recent price increase on the Macs this is a great deal. More than 20% off.
Got a MacBook Pro Retina (https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/laptops/apple/ap…) which is still the current model (as it didn't get an upgrade yet). $2698 is cheaper than the Apple refurbished price (AU$2969) or the apple new price here at AU$3499. (this model costs new in America US$2499 (with the current exchange rate this is AU$3292 + 10% GST (AU$329) = AU$3621 … so a great deal for AU$2698
Didn't try price beat at Officeworks … might have saved 5% more. (But honestly … I hate this practice and I personally do the business with the shop who offers me a good deal.)
I guess we will see soon more price increases on products such as electronics and cars due to our weak dollar … no more big ticket items for me when the dollar is so weak. Also not looking forward to the next increase in the Apple iTunes store which should be coming soon.
5% off $2698 = $135
Am I still on OzBargain???
You are … :-) I fully agree that you might get a better deal and can understand why many people do it. For me it's a personal preference and I don't like it.
Why?
- I usually need to go to the shop try to find someone and start negotiating (sometimes they don't accept the cheaper price for all sorts of dubious reasons despite their policy —> not a company I like to buy from).
The travel and time costs money (depending on how valuable your time is). (see comment above from backwind) - They might adjust their prices fast so that the offer does not work anymore. Hope the deal does not sell out at the other shop (which I could have ordered online).
- It gives people a false feeling that everything at a shop which has a price match policy is cheap …
- Lets become price matching a common practice for all shops … it will be harder to find good deals. No one needs to offer deals as they always they can always say: "We are the cheapest anyhow via price match" I like companies which offer a genuine deal.
But as said … just my personal preference. :-)

What are the "Selected mac computers"?
officeworks have dropped their prices by 20-40 cents so they dont have to price match. Does anyone know if Dicksmith or hardly normal or badguys price match/beat JB priceS?
Lol. Thanks for the tip off!
Anyone know the length of interest free you can get on this at JBs?
Thanks OP and thanks mini wombat for the excellent comment.
Well well Turn out good, Harvey Norman happily price matched for me! (Fountain Gate SC).
I just pick it up, they have about 2 left. Macbook Pro 13" Retina 128GB model
I am happy, Cheers OP
How much did you pay? jb website doesn't have this one displayed
Well base on RRP $1599 - 10%($159) = $1439 on my reciept
thx
Just thought I'd mention it if anyone is comparing the new versus old:
The new 13" Macbook Air has a SSD that is twice as fast as the new 11" Air and the older models.Check out this article for a "teardown" of the new 13" Macbook Air:
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook+Air+13-Inch+Early+20…Might be an important feature for some. Though if you're going for the Air model then generally you're not going to be using it for any heavy duty tasks anyway.
The drive on the old Air was already faster than almost anything else on the market. The new one is amazingly quick.
Yeah. "Average write speeds for the 11-inch MacBook Air using Black Magic's Disk Speed Test were 315MB/s, while average read speeds were 668MB/s. The 13-inch MacBook Air saw average write speeds of 629.9MB/s and average read speeds of 1285.4MB/s."
Went into the Springvale JB store today to get the top end 15" rMBP.
They were not only out of stock, but the prices they had were the updated, much higher prices. they still honoured the online price though.
They called some city stores and had stock in Elizabeth St store. Picking one up tomorrow.Anyone in Brisbane find an 11 or 13" air?
Picking up tonight from Elizabeth street store in Melbourne CBD.
They called to confirm and mentioned there was still alot of stock left for Macbook Air 13" 128,
Why is the website saying zero stock.
And lady at prahan said other stores calling her.Well that was interesting…
Ordered through my works corporate partners program, got a call from JB head office telling me its at Mel Elizabeth st store, come up it up when ready.
Money drawn from my account,Get there, sorry out of stock, try another store….
DAFUQ? customer service lacking from JB, wanted me to try other stores, made it out like head office and the Elizabeth street store were not even from the same company!
A polite but stern call to their customer service first thing this morning also got the same results, they asked ME which store i want like to pick it up from? ….NO…how about YOU find the store that has it, and send it to the Elizabeth street store, OR send it to me directly. …
lets see what happens.
I called them this morning and a guy said there is air 13 stock at all..
greedy apple, very happy got many 13 mbp retina 256ssd for $1650 when later 2013 released
Yeah I'm still holding on to my late 2013 13" Retina. No incentive to upgrade to the current models which have only had minor spec bumps.
I bought the latest 2015 MBP 256GB version model from JB @ 10% off
10% off the new price, or 2014 price? how much did you pay?
10% off the new price of the new 2015 model released yesterday… Paid $2100 for the MBP and applecare warranty.
If I could get a 13.3" Retina in Sydney I would pul the trigger. Currently have a 13" MBA 2012 (I think) which is working pretty well so would only upgrade for a better display.
Guys what do you think of Megabuy. Are they Legit?
Their 13' retina is $1457
http://www.megabuy.com.au/apple-mgx72xa-macbook-pro-with-13-…
The updated prices are crazy - especially the $1500 iPhone 6 Plus and the 15" MBP.
It really feels like we are going back to 2009, and I'll be once again purchasing when I am overseas….sigh.
I opted for an ex-lease Macbook which is underpowered by today's standards etc, but I can't afford Apple's new prices, so I'm going to just use the ex-lease model and wait until the dollar gets better. The nice thing is this: apple does reduce prices when the dollar slips the other way (on new released product that is, they never do it midstream, either up or down). I think what really ticked me off was the increase in refurb prices. Those ought to have remained as they were.
Thinking of a mac mini to supplement my Dell PC. Are they worth it and do they work ok with PC accessories? I only want one keyboard on my desk.
Unlike a Macbook Air, a Mac Mini is not very good value compared to the competition. I'd only buy one if you are very keen on the Mac OS experience,
If you just want a well engineered and very compact desktop, go for an Intel NUC.
Bought one a few weeks ago as a Plex server. Took it back after a week as I decided it was too expensive for Plex alone and went in search of a NUC. Re-bought a Mac Mini from Office Works yesterday as I decided they represent better value for money than a NUC, IMHO. Now I have an expensive Plex server again :-)
$780 looks good to me.
Could anyone upload a copy of their receipt for a macbook pro retina 13'' with 10% off the advertised price?
Picked up the top 15" retina yesterday. Nice and fast :) Now does anyone have suggestions on what to use the 50% off voucher for? We have until March 31 according to my docket. I was mulling over this: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/connected-home/s…
I can't find where this 50% off offer is anywhere.
Got mine from Brisbane CBD. It's a separate docket.
Myers George St have the 13" MBP with Retina for $1599. Today they have $100 off with a $30 voucher if you have a Myers card.
I just put this in the Myer offer thread too but will post it here for anyone still looking around:
The current JB Hi-Fi 10% off deal should also apply to all of the new models. In store only though as they're not yet online. Confirmed by staff at Bundall QLD store this morning looking when I went looking for a 2014 MBA.
Any sign of a 10% coming soon at any retailer?
JB hifi is having one atm
New models have Broadwell. This equates to a 1 hour boost on the new retina MacBook Pro 13. Probably equates to slightly more battery on the Air line as well, though Apple has kept their battery life the same.
