Free Delivery using Singapore Post.

Xiaomi Official RRP is CNY 149 (Around USD $25) + Shipping. They dont ship outside China/HK.
This is the lowest I have seen for this. Sells for $40 at Geekbuying.

http://en.miui.com/thread-56531-1-1.html
Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StkBbWeQaYI (Spanish)

Please note this comes with Local MicroSD Slot for recording as well as WiFi and Wired Ethernet capable.
2-way communication including voice as it has mic and speaker.

For night it enables a Black-n-White High Sensitivity Mode.

I have one and this is way better than even the D-Link range which costs like $70~$80. And best thing is you dont need a power source and you can power it off using a Mi Power Bank and works for like 5-7 days with the 10400 Power Bank :D

Can you access the cam on 3G/4G?

    • +2

      Pros:
-Can take out the lens and mount it anyway u want it.
-very easy to setup and use now support IOS as well.
-with Mi router u can set the on and off time daily or working days etc.
-access using 3g network quite alright for me not so sure why many user in china complaint about laggnes.
-so portable that u can use Mi power bank to power it up and place some where hidden LOL.

      Cons:
-need class 10 micro SD card for update AMD formatted to Fat32 else u will never get it to work.
-no Ir for night recording which makes it not so smart afterall as it was advertise as smart cam for detecting house intrusion.

      • Why does it need class 10? What about those samsung evo ones

      • +1

but OP said "For night it enables a Black-n-White High Sensitivity Mode.
        "

        • not too sure on those features, I copy pasted those pros and cons from another forum :D

        • Which will still be useless. Cameras like these need IR to be of any value unless you have flood likes.

        • @not a bargain: "floodlights"

        • +4

@not a bargain: I hate floods. That counts me out.

        • i think he means a flood of ozbargain likes

      • it does have 8 infrared led lights as photo evidenced by the review from etkchina.com

my bad for pasting a stupid and ignorant consumer review

  • The reviews around the place seem terribly written. More focus on the camera itself than the quality of video it produces, or it's actual (web) interface - if one exists.

Not bagging it (yet), but there seems to be a lack of info available about how it's configured - the idea of snapping the QR code on the back of the camera to connect it to via your android phone makes me think it might create a wireless access point and you connect to the camera directly to be able to view it on your phone. No description about a web interface for it or how you might connect it to your home wifi.

Happy to be educated otherwise. OP you've got one, can you let us know ?
Does it connect to your home Wifi ?
Does it have a web interface ?
Does it produce streaming video accessible via a browser/software (such as VLC) ?

    Thanks

    • "WiFi and Wired Ethernet capable." and yes, apparently you can access it outside of home via the app

      • +4

Descriptions on Gearbest aren't usually very accurate though :-).

In all the photos of the camera that I've seen (and I've now read 3 or 4 reviews), there hasn't been an ethernet port anywhere on it.

    • Seems to me this is a basic security camera with motion detection and records to a microsd card powered from main wall or power bank, plus night vision is questionable. No difference to a dashcam really. I doubt if you can access the camera on mobile network.

      • +2

not sure with night vision. but quite sure that you can access live video via mobile network. I used to have Dlink one. however, it is not 720p and no night vision. Interesting on this one, just not sure about night vision. anyone knows?

      • I think the fact it has Networking says it all. Yes you can access it from anywhere one way or another

    • Does it connect to your home Wifi ?

      Yes

Does it have a web interface ?

No, it had a very basic one which allowed you to view all recorded files(one minute per file), but has been disabled in the latest firmware update. And they claim that you have to be a authorised enterprise user to turn it on.

Does it produce streaming video accessible via a browser/software (such as VLC) ?

No, same as above. RTSP has been disabled for personal users.

      • well that really sucks.

        Minor stream:rtsp://192.168.1.128:554/ch0_1.h264
        Audio stream:rtsp://192.168.1.128:554/ch0_3.h264

        Replace with your camera ip.

        • Thought so, what he was saying didn't make much sense, how would you even set it up without an interface :-D

  • +1

    No night vision ???

That alone is a no buy for me ;(

Is there a ethernet port, I couldn't see one in any of the videos or photos. I don't like using wifi for ip cameras

    • +1

+1 for the Ethernet Port concern. I've been doing a bit of searching and can't find evidence of an Ethernet Port either. Could it be yet another 'Wifi Only' device? Although it's probably fine as is it should definitely have an Ethernet Port as a basic design requirement IMO. Chromecast is another example. Not everyone rents and wants the 'convenience' of Wifi… some of us prefer to rock solid stability & security of copper! Oh well, looks like another fancy looking toy without much substance :(

    http://en.miui.com/thread-65175-1-1.html

It doesnt have an official english firmware, so you're running a risk that it upgrades and locks you out. I'd avoid until they decide to translate it officially.

There are very few reviews of the app, which really can make or break the device.

It's a nice hardware, but there are too many unanswered questions about the software. imo it doesnt deserve to be on the front page

    • -2

it's still very affordable and does the job right.

      • +2

*IF it does the job right

Otherwise it's just an expensive paper weight.

      • -6

imo, no night vision so what benefit does it have over a $15 webcam.

        • +1

It is an IP camera, there is a big different between an ip camera and webcam. You can use an IP camera to monitor your house or something without the need of connecting the camera to a computer.

        • before negging, please read the etkchina.com review thoroughly as linked by OP

    • I can't edit my post, but here is the link with the new firmware.

      http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=73032&extra=…

      still a tonne of complaints.

  • At that price, I'm willing to take a punt on it working with my Ninja Blocks.

  • Just ordered 2 to try them out.

I was sick of the cheap IP cameras for a while now, but let's hope that Xiaomi can change the game …

Accoding to this is does have some night vision

Xiaoyi Camera Character Five: 8 Infrared LED lights, Able To Shoot In Low Light
Xiaoyi camera is equippe with 8 infared LED lights, they can detect the light intensity of shooting environment and start filling light automatically. During the test, it can be normally used even it is totally dark out there. It may not so good as pure night vision camera, it’s ability to fill light is to be proud of.

    http://etkchina.com/2014/11/07/retain-the-genuine-the-first-…

No sign of ethernet port though, so no deal for me.

    • Yer need ethernet

  • An "I have no idea" question, why would I want one of these, what does it do and why would I benefit from having one?

    • +2

Funnily enough, if you click the OP's link you might actually find info relevant to the product.

    • I have teenagers. And I want to check fron time to time that they are home after school. That is an example.

    • I use webcams to monitor home, mailbox/porch/yard&roof, when I leave home unattended for weeks to go bush.
These ip cams might eliminate cables if you can program then. Still I think I'm going to try old Android wifi phones & security apps as suggested on this thread.
Maybe 2x solar light panels (5v? & nimh batts) might run it.
      Just speculating.

  • I checked some reviews.
    There is no ethernet port.
    There is no night vision.
    Chinese app.

The point of having a security camera is to
have night vision to detect intruders.

You can just build up a similar one with an old
android phone installed a security camera app.
Also by this way you do not even have to worry
about an external battery to provide power and
    an extra micro sd card.

    Trash.

    • I used to use cheap/old android phones as ip cameras, but these "cameras" soon became unreliable (not connected, need to reset, the app need to be reinstalled, etc.) so I give up on them and use D-Link cameras instead

      • Yeah, the D-link one has highest rating on amazon and comes
with night vision and web interface.
It is Roughly $70, not too bad.
Always remember to do some detailed research before you use
your hard-earned money.Otherwise you will have another unused
        stuff in your garage.

        • What D-Link are you talking about? I saw some but there were at around 170$ probably I was looking at the wrong ones. Thank you.

        • @mihai.petrescu:
          very basic like D-Link DCS-930L, D-Link DCS-932L from less than $30 to over $50
to reasonable one like D-Link DCS-2132L with higher resolution and micro SD card slot

        • @hluu0111:

Thank you very much for the info.

  • +2

As I commented, I will show some better choices to you guys.

    Day time use.
    D-Link DCS-930L
Current ebay au price $39 delivered.

    Day & night use.
    D-Link DCS-932L
Current ebay au price $69 delivered.

you can search the specs. These definitly come with english
apps and from a more trustable brand.

    • … and both with obvious Ethernet ports! My next item on the checklist is POE but no decent IP cam under about $80 has proper POE so no biggie :) I think I'll stick to my Foscam 8910E cams as they're pretty much plug & play for POE copper freaks like me plus have handy pan & tilt all for a measly $90.

    • +1

      MJPEG/JPEG, 640 x 480
      that's fairly primitive these days.
Chinese suppliers sell 1.3 MPixel, H264 IP cameras with >10metre IR leds, CS lens for US$30-40.

      • -1

Agreed… but I've now spent far too much money going by specs alone just to end up with flaky, unreliable cameras. I have three generic Chinese cameras totalling around $600 that are just unusable now even after getting replacement guts from the supplier. The Foscam 8910E I bought last year just worked the moment I connected it and has been working non-stop ever since. Sure it's low res but at least it actually works and that's something not ever reflected in specs unfortunately.

        • I agree people can focus too much on specs like resolution.
In many home situations low res will do the job OK.
and probably be more likely to run problem free.

        • Yep, as the saying goes, "a poor man pays twice"

    • These seem to be incredibly low resolution though?!

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • is it ok to put this thing in places with high humidity? wont break right?

    • +3

Thinking of spying on people in the bathroom?

      • +2

no thinking of recording my cooking in the kitchen to share with my friends and family… why the sick mind?

  • +1

Thanks op Bought one. I also have one spare 15" LED monitor + Android mini pc stick.
Perfect way to setup a cheap dedicted home surveillance system.

  • I'm contemplating whether to get this or not. Anyone got a direct link to a better one that has the same features for approx same price?

    What about this one:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/D-Link-DCS-930L-MyDlink-Wireless-…

  • DOes anyone have any idea how to connect this to an iOS device? I can't even find the Xiaomi app…
