Since it opened in Innaloo I've been going there pretty often as well. Sure some of their stuff isn't perfect, but overall it's good stuff.
I've managed to cut my weekly food bill down significantly, and that includes buying nearly all my meat from there. With it being 24 hours, nothing quite like doing your weekly shopping at 11pm on a Wednesday night haha.
I think the guy behind Spudshed is a great agri-entrepreneur! They're open 24/7, which is almost unheard of in WA (aside from a few small IGAs and convenience stores) and they're always doing things to challenge the big chains.
I've been meaning to make it my regular grocer, in part just to support them, but I live in Como and always feel like Jandakot is too far - though every time I do go there I realise it's a lot closer than I think :)
Anyway, I can't believe they're doing stuff like this to try and stop his entrepreneurial spirit: https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/26630158/potato-king-dig…
Ridiculous.
From tomorrow isn't it
wow 9c a kilo. Wish I lived in WA :D
Wish we had a Spudshed in Sydney! :D
I went last night…bah….the deal starts Thursday.
Had to buy a 3kg bag of spuds for $1.49.
Cried all night.
Have to say Spudshed is the best business ever exists in WA (no..not you Krispy Kreme). Seriously I mean they got the cheapest everyday green (direct from their farms, hence the cheap price), cheap meat & seafood, open 24/7, what more can you ask for!? Like others said, you won't be able to buy all your main stream brands there, but what they got are usually pretty good and cheap too.I could easily save $30-$50 weekly from buying my everyday meat & green there for a family of 3.
Still got the free spuds they gave away a month ago too..;)
I love to support independent grocers as much as possible.
Hopefully Spudshed will have more selections of products so I can avoid shopping at Coles-Woolworths entirely.
I have been raving about Spudshed for months on this site. Just wish they would open in Midland - which seems to be a perfect location for their next store. Demographics on population & surrounding population should show the worth of opening the next new store in this expanding area.
As said in one of my previous rants - the owner of this store should go into politics - the way he has managed to squash the two majors who hate him with a vengance & tried to thwart his businesses at every turn , proves what a determined & resourceful business man he is. A small business man out to make a small profit, but provide great produce @ good prices to the masses -therefore proving the old adage of the more you sell, the more you make. Australia Post would do well to take a leaf out of his business book of selling techniques.
I shop at spud shed weekly and my advice to many is go with an open mind.
Don't expect to buy all of your shop there because some of it is rubbish. So you may get 60-70% of your fruit/veg there and top u elsewhere.
With the meat - look for the word "prime" generally it is high quality meat! The specials tend to be economy grade so generally pretty tough.
Either way - it seems a cracking deal and I'll be topping up my onions and carrots this week.
