If they reply to your comment, the bell will have a numbered notification. If you wan't to see all comments in a thread that you have commented on, click My Account/Comments.
This looks reasonable… Though if this feature gets implemented, I hope they include a function to disable it as well. Some thread goes insanely long.
It's going to be quite a bit of work to consolidate the existing email thread subscription (click on "Subscribe" button near the top of comments) and the new notification. Definitely one thing we are trying to avoid is send out new notifications on every new comment which would be really annoying.
Currently it's just those who have replied you directly in a comment thread. Maybe we'll notify the OP if someone posted a top-level reply.
I recently got an option to receive notifications from replies on comments and threads from Chrome. I have no idea how it activated but it's a thing and it works.
Oh haha, I see, that's excellent. My only dislike of it is that you can't click through, as if it was a hyperlink of sorts. Hopefully that support will be added down the road.
Yeah the new notification system is handy, also agree the hyperlink type thing would be good.
Unfortunately the notifications API only allows plain text to be displayed + an icon — no markups, no links. However it does allow action to be performed when click has been registered. Maybe we'll just open the link when that happens.
