We have just pushed out a new feature this morning related to OzBargain's notification system. Previously when a new notification comes in, a small box will pop up at the lower-right corner of your browser window. However it's not that useful when your OzBargain window/tab is in the background.
Now OzBargain can notify you via the Notifications API, supported currently by Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera on the desktop, as well as Firefox on mobile. To enable it,
- Hover over the Notifications Bell icon next to "My Account"
- Click on [Tick] Desktop button
- Grant permission to the website to allow Notifications
Next time a notification comes in it would popup next to your OS's notification area. You won't miss people replying your comments even when OzBargain is running in the background!
How to Turn Notifications Off
Chrome
- While in OzBargain, click on the green padlock on the left of URL
- Under Permissions, change "Notifications" to "Use global default (ask)"
Firefox
- While in OzBargain, click on the grey padlock on the left of URL
- Under Permissions, change "Show Notifications" to "Always Ask"
Sounds great.
