  • Can you please explain what you mean by "CLEARANCE ITEM 2 DAY WARRANTY ONLY" ?
    Thanks,

    • I think it means DOA warranty only

  • looool just when i thought i have seen it all. Fell off the back of a truck perhaps?!

    • No just old stock that needs to go

  • here's a free clue

    WPA only

the last firmware updates are 2004/2005

    2 day warranty

you can buy 11g routers from msy and whatever with a normal warranty that are made this year for the same money

  • gamedude are on of the worst for honouring warranties, so the 2 day warranty doesn't surprise.

    • Technically, they can't do it:

Statutory rights have no set time limit – depending on the price and quality of goods, consumers may be entitled to a remedy after any manufacturers’ or extended warranty has expired.

It is against the law for a seller to do anything that leads consumers to believe their rights are limited, or do not apply – for example, by claiming that no refunds will be given under any circumstances.

Policies that set a time limit, such as ‘no refunds after 30 days’, can be misleading because statutory rights have no time limits, other than what is ‘reasonable’.

      • -1

Not to rain on your parade BUT on clearance items we can limit the warranty as long as we make you aware before purchase because as you state the "reasonable" expectation is 12 months warranty.
These routers are BRAND NEW old stock, we are virtually giving them away… however we still abide by the trading laws and DOA units can be refunded. We have in no way stated no refunds or no warranty :)

        • Josh, not to rain on your parade either pal, BUT your knowledge of consumer protection legislation is clearly wanting!

Nothing you say, signpost or do as a retailer supercedes a consumer's statutory rights, ever! What Huey has pasted above is 100% correct! Head over to your local FT and have a read mate, it's very enlightening! ;)

Gamedude has set the very kind of limitation outlined in the excerpt, can you not see that? Two days warranty on a product you say is "BRAND NEW" is completely unreasonable; and as you say they're old stock, so you're not doing anybody but yourselves any favours by selling them off!

It's this very attitude to customer service that causes disgruntled ex-customers like me to slag Gamedude off at every opportunity; you and your "BOSS" might want to have a little think about that! ;)

          • @StewBalls:

Two days warranty on a product you say is “BRAND NEW” is completely unreasonable

A 2 day warranty has nothing to do with statutory warranty.

The SMC router will be backed by a 12 or 24 month manufacturer warranty however as it is old stock it may have been discontinued and repair parts are no longer available.
As long as you are made aware of this then the stated manufacturer warranty can be waived.

Statutory warranty comes in after manufacturer warranty.
Assuming this router no longer has a manufacturer warranty then it is still covered by a statutory warranty

The problem with statutory warranty is how long it should be covered for

Maybe you think it should have a 2 year warranty however it is an old unit and is being sold for $19 (likley a large discount from the rrp) so a court might think think that a 6 month statutory warranty period if fine.

Yes 2 days is too short as it is unreasonable to need to purchase a $20 router every 2 days however i dont think a court would agree with you if you were trying to get compensation after more than about 6 months.

  • is it 2 days from time of purchase or from when u receive it lol!

  • It is more likely used item thus 2 day warranty

  • selling 2nd hand goods as new is in breach of fair trading

i'm sure GD wouldn't do that (LOL!)

  • +1

    GameDude is a PoS.
Unless you live in QLD not worth the hassle for out-of-staters.

  • Thats OK the BOSS just dropped them to $19, They are brand new just old stock… The comments about used items is silly.
Also StewBalls (Whoever you are) the BOSS does not know who you are but clearly you are out to stir trouble, moreso he does not deal with the customers directly the staff and the managers in charge do… Thanks anyway for your false posting :)

    • So, hang on a tic, this Dorian tool is your boss? ROFLMAO! :)

Now, use your head a bit, how the hell would I know his name if he doesn't deal with the public and if I've had no dealings with him directly? Of course I'm not gonna give you my real identity for fear of "Durian" threatening to sue or blacklist me (which as you know is his other fave threat); frankly, he probably behaves like this so frequently it would be hard to keep track of just who he insults! ;)

Nothing false here champ, and I'm not the only one in just this thread denigrating Gummydude; you guys have a pedigree for poor service and "bait & switch" that's well established, just ask around any local aussie IT forums, WP, OCAU etc, the Gamedude reputation has for years been trash! :)

But yes, I'm happy to freely admit I'm most definitely stirring trouble for you idiots, in the hope I can save someone else from the frustration and dissatisfaction of dealing with you knuckleheads! :)

      Have a nice day! :p

  • Dear StewBalls,
Anyone can find the name of the owner of a company, its freely available if you know where to look, plus since we have been around for 15+ years its bound to come out who the owners name is.. Whoever you are you are a child and its clear that you are difficult to deal with if your post is anything to go by

    • The truth does hurt sometimes Josh! ;)

BTW, you might want to look at your own behaviour here before you go casting aspersions on others' maturity! I suppose I can be difficult to deal with, but that's just because I don't suffer fools or the dishonest gladly! :p

Oh, and please learn to click the "reply" area to respond to comments, keeping the thread hierarchy makes the comments a bit neater and easier for others to follow, there's a good chap! :)
