    Where the picture at?

Was this stuff really made in 1999? How come they have it/ are selling it now, 15 years later? Did they just find a forgotten shelf in the warehouse? Maybe everyone just THOUGHT it was rare, cause Dimmey's lost Australia's entire national allotment of stock. Weird man.

    • They had around 200+!

      • +4

        *over 9000

      • Did you leave any? Quite a few on ebay

    • +6

Probably was a few hundred/thousand sitting in the back of a warehouse. Someone recently found it and flogged it off to Dimmys on the cheap to off load it.

      • +2

Having worked in logistics for a toy store, it was most likely sitting in a shipping container buried in the middle of the stack.

    • +2

It's being sold now as it's stationary apparently. It's been immobile on the shelves. This stock has not been running out the door.

  • +6

    Stylin'

  • +3

A bit off topic but this reminds me of when i was listing stuff for stocktake at work. I came across so many gems that have been circulating from store to store for ages (like pokemon figurines that were made well over a decade ago - i'm a collector myself so I had a decent guess lol) but year after year they are scanned and thrown back into a box to be stored away on a pallet. On extremely rare occasions they would slap a clearance sticker on old (forgotten) stock and sell it off for a tiny fraction of it's value.

Any pokemon cards? Think of all the potential unopened packs with mint charizards…

  • +4

Sorry, but apart from the novelty value of these being 16yo, why is this a bargain?

    • +5

I was wondering the same thing. People misuse the vote system. It's not meant to be used for likes/dislikes but a lot of people do anyway.

      • +1

Yeah people plus vote things with witty descriptions. it's deals like these that deserve to be moved to the forum.

        • +13

I think people misuse the federal electoral voting system.

    • +6

$2 for a licensed Nintendo item is pretty cheap.

      • Indeed. It's definitely cheaper than the US $25 I saw this on Amazon for the other day.

    • the novelty value of these being 16yo

That's probably enough for most people.

    • +1

      because POKEMON!

  • I doubt those erasers even work well anymore. Also, why is this tagged under Education?

The only people who'd want these are hardcore Pokemon merchandise collectors.

    • +1

I'm no hardcore pokemon collector but I would have bought one for $2 any day.

  • +19

C'mon, if you're going to flog it on Ebay for ~$20 at least use a different picture here so it's not bloody obvious.

    • -2

      Hahaha

    • -2

I'm not the one selling em, I just took their pic

    • -2

      I couldn't find a pic on google

I will post my recipet tommorrow

  • Lol Dimmeys-
First (and last) time I went into the Coburg store it was shocking- there were plates that were dirty and broken and lol

    • +3

Sure that wasn't the staff kitchen? ;-) Dimmeys is a lucky dip depending on stock they get in so I wouldn't write them off as a bargain shopper eg. I've bought several wool Van Heusen suits there that cost three times the price in Myer for the exact same item. I bought an Arrow dinner suit there for less than the cost to hire one (They had a shipment of suits in that time).

  • can someone independently confirm all these significant claims please

    • +5

      confirmed

    • Government committee will investigate once they have finished with the imported berries and greyhound racing…

    • many thanks.

  • What other things do Dimmeys sell? o.O

    • +12

"What other things do Dimmey's sell?"

I went there recently and they were selling penny bungers, flip-books and moon-pies. I grabbed a few and took them to the old bird at the register (it was one of those old-skool manual ones), and she told me it would be '3 and nine-pence'. I didn't know what that meant, and I was scared I'd somehow fallen through some sort of 'worm-hole' or sommat, into a previous time-dimension. Thankfully when I walked out, it was 2015 again.
      Whew, that was close.

        moon-pies

What a time to be alive

  • how does one acquire

  • Haha. The desperate is real in this one. Go on eBay and search '1999 pokemon stationary".

  • "I wanna be, the very best…."

    • +1

OH NO YOU DON'T. I know what you're up to, Mister!

Best pokemon theme song ever imo

      • +1

Best anything theme song ever :O

        • Captain Planet & Power Rangers are pretty good. Used both of them as ringtones and they are great except you don't want to answer your phone cause you are listening to the song.

    • Kiiiinda NSFW, but depends how strict your workplace is.

Basically how it feels trying to play the new ones ><

    • Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light…

I miss dimmeys at Richmond ;(

  • Not rare. Pretty safe bet that 99% of items like this made after 1980 aren't rare. This goes for trading cards, figurines, comics, novelty items etc. Obviously there is the odd thing, but this isn't one.

EDIT: However $2 is cheap. I'm merely arguing against the use of the word "RARE" in the bargain title.

    • +3

Yeah! Everybody knows that Pokemon is Game Freak, not Rareware!

      • Rareware was awesome back in the day though, every game they put out for the N64 was a classic

        • Rareware keep teasing that they'll release xbone sequels to their much-beloved Nintendo 64 games, but they fail to realize that Microsoft is hard-pushing the fan-base of the console to sport, shooting, and racing games, none of which would especially suit Rareware (They already effed up the racing attempt with Banjo and the shooting with Perfect Dark, both on 360).

Rareware just don't realize that nobody cares anymore. RIP the best game developers in the 90s, and long live Retro Studios.

  • WANT

  • I'm genuinely curious to know who has/will take advantage of this "deal".

  • No charmander - no deal

  • Any still at the store or any other Dimmeys in Vic for that matter ?

    • +1

Yes, lots. Unsurprisingly, they're not exactly 'running out the door'.
