if it makes you feel any better, I was on the toilet taking the dump of my life when I posted :^D

        • +9

          dump of my life

Is that the new album by One Direction?

  • -1

I wouldn't classify this as a "Bargain" as you have used Gift cards

    • Could you tell me how you can get the discount from gift cards? I am thinking about going to JB to get something and I don't know how that works… Thanks.

    • +3

No, the price printed on the receipt is the price negotiated prior to payment. It has nothing to do with the gift cards. Buying gift cards online through RAC or the like can nab you another 5% off, bringing the price down to ~$800

      • +1

        My bad. You're correct

  • +2

    3% saving…

  • Yeah that's right. The price on the receipt is the price dealed with JB. You can get 5% discount from buying them at woolworths use RACV benefit. Not sure the price I dealed with JB is the best price or not but it is the cheapest public price compred to big w and other stores.

    • so you got it for $842.93 just by going in and saying "what's your best price on a gold iPhone 6 16GB" ?

      • Yes, that's right. Of course match price to Big W

  • I thought the TRS was the full 10%GST back?

    • +3

      you get 1/11 back that's 9.09%

  • +4

Awfully expensive for a 16 GB model.

  • +1

so around $25 off on an over $800 purchase, geez they dont give you much do they.

I mean, it is a little cheaper but is it a bargain price?

    • Can you propose anywhere sell aus stock with cheaper price?

      • nah, that's not what I am saying.
I am saying it isn't a bargain seeing its only a tiny bit cheaper, its just cheaper thats all. All stores are miserable in their discounts.

Good onya for getting a new phone, enjoy it.

  • +3

I'm not entirely convinced how this is even value for money, let alone a bargain!

  • +4

Good luck with only 16gb, should have bought the 64gb.

    • Especially since Apple has increased the minimal app size to 4GB

      • what do mean, the smallest an app can be is 4GB now?

  • +3

    NOT A BARGAIN.

  • +1

Unless you plan to have very little of apps, music and just take photos else 16gb is not enough… Minimum get 64gb.

    • Yes what are you left with after the OS ? Something like 11GB

I guess if you stream all your music and keep your photos in iCloud you might get away with 16GB but the updates require quite a bit of free space now don't they

Personally it'd be the 64GB for me but I'm waiting for the 6S as the 6 still only has 1GB RAM

  • +1

    not even a bargain.

  • -4

Pretty ordinary price considering new lineup of phones are coming out start of March and iPhone 7 to follow, paying next to RRP is a pretty lousy deal.

    • +2

We'll all be back in 3 week's time calling you on this 'prediction'.

    • +2

iPhone 7 will be coming out in 2016, not anywhere close to March.

    • -1

new phones are always coming out, are you going to keep waiting?

      • -2

No mate. But I am willing to wait if it's less than a month away (eg. March 5). Also, that's actually not true - phones generally come out at the same times as each other, at the same times of the year.

        • -1

nearly every phone post there'll be that one guy posting about a new phone coming out. yeah, we get it already

        • -2

@tdw: Anyhow; read my original post and what I originally meant.

I never said to delay buying new phones because there will be newer ones coming out.

I said that since there is a chance that the iPhone 7 or iPhone 6c or s (whatever they want to call it) will come out this year, as rumoured, it is not worth buying near RRP. So my comment was more specific to this deal rather than a comment on phones in general. Next time, read what someone actually said - not what you want to think they said so you can have a nice whinge.

          Have a good day!

        • -1

@TassieJones14: new phones coming out all the time. RRP is never worth paying.
got something else to add that we don't already know?

if you want to have a whinge about people supposedly not reading what you wrote the way you intended, then feel free to communicate it effectively to begin with

        • -2

@tdw: Yes, but the difference is I never communicated that RRP is worth paying in any instance. The OP did, so I was merely correcting this - so, contrary to what you think I was doing, I was not saying something blatantly obvious. Sorry to disappoint.

        • -1

@TassieJones14: lol alright Reading Master, show me where the OP said anything about RRP, let alone that it was worth paying. all he's mentioned are the price he negotiated with JB, the 5% off from the gift cards method and the tourist refund scheme, if applicable.

but yeah, everyone else has crappy comprehension skills eh?

        • -2

@tdw: Common sense has it that when someone posts a deal on this site, they generally mean it's worth paying, Eistein. Also - no the OP never said anything about RRP. I did. And his price of $840 is quite near to the RRP of $869, for a phone released 1 year ago.

There we go, now go get educated.

        • -1

@TassieJones14: deducing something that isn't explicitly stated just so it suits you isn't a sign of common sense. wouldn't want to be "educated" by the same system that failed you

        • -2

@tdw: mate, think about it - would you post and buy something with a picture of a receipt if you didn't think it was a good deal?

Now stop being stubborn and accept you're wrong.after this,it's Time to get some "common sense"😅😅😅😰😰😰

        • @TassieJones14: lol "stop being stubborn".."good boy"? you gonna wave your condescending finger at me too and send me off to sit in a corner?

this is the OP's first post, too, in case you missed that. so of course it's hard for them to judge what a seasoned ozbargainer knows is/isn't a deal.

but hey, don't let that stop you trying to twist their words to suit your agenda while simultaneously accusing someone else of lacking reading comprehension.

you really that desperate to be "right" and get a pat on the head?

        • -2

          @tdw: Cool.

          Do you have two accounts?

        • @TassieJones14: ran out of insults did ya?

why would i need 2 accounts? you think no one else has noticed how laughable your behaviour is?

  • +4

You probably want to remove the IMEI number :)

    • Too late I already sold it for bitcoin

  • +3

    $800 plus for a 16GB phone a bargain?

    What a joke!

    • +1

I know.. the real joke is people bought 75 million of them and I am one of them…

      • What do you mean by this comment mate?, that we have 75 million people on this planet that have no grip with reality?, or that 75 million people were fooled by Apple?

  • If you think its not a bargain, pls vote it down.

    • +2

They need to provide a valid reason for a down vote, such as a cheaper price elsewhere (e.g. $815.50 at Big W with discounted gift cards)
