Looking for cheap tyres for my XR5 Mondeo and found these instead. They will cost me $537.88 shipped to Brisbane, and local KMart Tyre and Auto can install + align for another $119.

Note that these are not the Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2s with updated compound and tread pattern. I would regard the Assymetric F1 (original), sold here, in the next tier of tyre.

This was one of the best tyres of its day.

They said the tyres are all sold within 2 years of manufacture.

Interestingly, they also sell the same size Michelin Pilot Sport 3 for $162.39 (shipped) which is also very cheap and easily worth the extra if you want the pefromance.

Apparently these will fit XR5 Focus, as well as some of the Commodores/Falcons.

          reckon i'm in the running

  • Some good prices on some other tyres as well. But you do have to contact your local tyre store to get a quote don't you?

  • Are there fees for credit card?
FAQ say direct to fitting shop?

  • I have been looking for this tyre a few years ago and was unable to find a supplier in Australia. It has good review.

The deal for PS3 in this size is marginal - Jax/Bob Jane are selling them for $197 fitted these days. All the mucking around to save $5-10 per tyre at best (assuming fitting and disposal of old tyre is $25-30 each).

I miss my Mondeo XR5, excellent cars.

Great price on the Michelin PS3's probably one of the best tyres you can possibly buy.

Kmart tyre and auto will price beat even online prices so you could have just gone to them for the lot instead of just the fitting.

    • then they will try to charge you more on something else in your car.

Got ripped once by Kmart Auto. Never again.

    • Do Kmart fit tyres for free if you buy a set from them?

      • +2

I guess it's included in the price like all other stores.
I just got some pirellis for my wife's xtrail a few weeks back. Bob Jane was some silly price, jax online was 267, I called the local store and they quoted 219, called Kmart and they were $245, I mentioned the $219 and over the phone they said ok, we'll do $215 fitted balanced and old tyres disposed. Didn't even have to prove the $219.

  • Yep, sometimes I miss my old XR5 Mondeo, sometimes I don't…
I spent over $1k on Assy 2's when there was a buy 3 get 1 free sale at Goodyear. Great grippy tyres and heaps better than the Bridgestone Potenzas.

IIRC, Focus XR5 were shod on 225/40/18, not 235.
