Vision direct is an online optical retailer claiming to have the BEST prices and the BIGGEST range of frames in Australia.

They stock 180 different brands and over 80,000 individual products in their catalogue (with 25,000 of them always in stock and available for immediate delivery). All designer frames are guaranteed to be 100% authentic.

They also offer FREE express delivery anywhere in Australia as well as cheap shipping to overseas destinations.

For the month of February, they are running a promotion offering the following discount coupons:

  • RX25AU – 25% off all lenses (frames not included)
  • VD10 – $10 off your order on all orders with a minimum of $150 spend

I wrote a detailed review about this retailer as well as one of their competitors which you might want to consider.

You can also face them against each other as both offer a 'Best price guarantee'.

Fair Disclosure: - we are an affiliate of this merchant and the links in our review are all affiliate links. The link provided here is a direct one.

Despite being an affiliate of this store, I'm not recommending them because they pay us but rather following extensive research we conducted on this company and the people behind it (which is provided in our review) as well as my own personal experience (yep, I bought a pair of Sunnies from them in the past).

I think this is a great example of an Aussie company doing the right thing by its customers and making us all very proud on the world stage. Its 3 Australian founders really seem like top blokes.

        I find your comment inflammatory

  • When you say 25% off lenses, do you include contact lenses? Looking for 4 boxes of optic Aqua 6 packs..

  • Thanks Op!

Their prices are the same as Costco (but much better range of frames) and with 25% off, wow. you've saved me a bucket!

  • I never buy sunglass online.I could not imagine that without physical wearing the glass ,how do you know the glass that you buy will be comfortable for you???any suggestion?

Yep. That is a well known problem that has stopped many people (including myself) from buying glasses online.

HOWEVER, this mob has created proprietary virtual 'try it on' technology which is the most advanced of its kind in the world today. This technology has been one of the primary reasons for their explosive growth and for becoming one of the biggest online optical retailers on Earth (if not THE biggest).

The way it works is that you can either upload a photo of your face or use a webcam to see in 'real time' how ANY pair of glasses in their range will look like.

This clip of an interview their CEO gave to Bloomberg TV discusses this issue and gives a demonstration of the technology.

      Here is another demonstration.

  • Firstly I wanted to say I have used Vision Direct a few times and have been more than happy.

I get an easy refund from my Health Insurance on prescription sunglasses, which you can't get on overseas sites like Zenni.

Having said that, they are sent from China. I've had two pairs of Raybans and I have to say I'm not sure whether they're fakes or not. Quality of the glasses seems pretty good, so no real complaint, but for example the case on the first pair completely fell apart after less than a year and the case on my latest pair has had the colour on the black press stud completely rub off after a few months, which suggests a strong liklihood of being a fake.
